Abstract

This study aims to determine the productive pedagogies skills of prospective teachers in implementing learning in the pandemic era. These skills indicate the professional level of a teacher in carrying out their duties. Ideally the teacher should be able to show every dimension of productive pedagogies during the learning process. Productive pedagogies of a teacher can be seen from three dimensions, namely intellectual quality, relevance, and mastery of the classroom environment. The implementation of this descriptive research is carried out in the implementation of teaching by biology education teacher candidate students who do Field Experience Practices. Productive pedagogies are measured using a Likert scale questionnaire and observation sheets on the implementation of learning. The data obtained were analyzed on the conversion of values with the low to high category, and then the comparison was carried out using the scheme to provide a description of the productive pedagogies' domination. The research findings show that the productive pedagogies of biology teacher candidates based on a questionnaire (85.75) and the implementation of learning (93.00) are in the very good category. The rating of each dimension of productive pedagogies is in the very good category. It can be concluded that prospective biology teachers are considered ready to face learning situations both offline and online with good learning strategies.

Abstract

The research was conducted at SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang in XII IPA 5 class which aims to describe the steps, learning results and positive impact of STEM-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) model implementation in biology class on growth. This research was conducted from July 12, 2020 to October 30, 2020. The results obtained from this study are the Implementation of STEM Based Learning Project, which can improve the skills of students making experimental reports on learning about Growth of Plants. Based on the data from 2019, the average class score was 63,02. After implementation of STEM-based PjBL in cycle 1 the average class score increase from 75,71 to 83,84. The number of students who didn’t pass the task from cycle 1 are 10 students and the number decreased in cycle 2 to 2 students. The number of students who completed the task increased from 25 to 33 students. The percentage of students who pass the task also increased from 71,42% to 94,28%. Thus, STEM approaches can improve student skills and their understanding of STEM concepts and priciples that can be used integratedly to develop products, processes, and systems that benefit human life.

Abstract

Students are part of community who will participate in social interactions. Mastery of social skills is expected to be able to equip graduates to interact in more complex societies. One of social skill is cooperation. Therefore, ability to cooperation is important. Student interaction in completing assignments when practicum activities become a means of building cooperation between group members. Practicum subject at Biology Education of FTK UIN Antasari Banjarmasin are presented in the third semester. Student cooperation should have been well developed because so far they have become accustomed to interacting in class. Facts in the field apparently show that the level of student ccooperation is still low. Plant morphology practicum is expected to play a role in increasing the level of cooperation between students. This study aims to describe the profile of cooperation between students in practicum activities. Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews with students. Practicum can facilitate students to build cooperation in their groups. In general, the percentage of cooperation increased from practicum 1 to practicum 9. If viewed on group basis, group cooperation ranges from fairly good to good. The group with the lowest average cooperation was obtained by group 1 and the highest group 6.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the correlation between General Pedagogy Knowledge (GPK) and teaching practice with Self Efficacy of pre-service biology teachers. One of the most essential knowledge to provide pre-service biology teachers General Pedagogy Knowledge (GPK). This knowledge is a significant component of teacher knowledge. GPK will be reflected when pre-service biology teachers practice teaching in the classroom, and they will be supported by good Self Efficacy. In this research, self-efficacy is a pre-service biology teacher's beliefs in her ability to choose the right learning strategy when teaching practice (microteaching). The research used is the descriptive correlation method with a multiple regression approach. A total of 30 pre-service biology teachers were selected as the research sample used the purposive sampling technique. The research instruments used the RPP assessment rubric, teaching practice assessment rubric and self-efficacy questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 26. Based on the test results by comparing the value of r (table) using a 5% significance level of 0.453 and r (count) obtained 0.673, there is a significant correlation between General Pedagogy Knowledge and teaching practice with Self Efficacy of pre-service biology teachers. It can be concluded that mastery of General Pedagogy Knowledge and good teaching practices can increase the Self Efficacy of pre-service biology teachers.

Abstract

Abstract

TPACK maturity is an important quality of a modern professional teacher, especially in the current state of the pandemic which requires certain level of technological mastery from teachers. There remain questions as to what variables contributed to TPACK maturity of teachers. The research objective was to examine TPACK maturity among teachers along different tenure lengths and gender. The research was conducted in Tanjungpinang City with a sample of 32 science junior high school teachers consisting of 26 female teachers and 6 male teachers. Data was collected through a questionnaire, assessing 7 aspects of teacher’s TPACK. The results show that teachers with less than 12 years tenure length scored higher in TPACK maturity than teachers with 12 to 24 years tenure length, while teachers with more than 24 years tenure length score the lowest. We suggest this result is moderated by the age group variables from the samples. Based on genders, there is no significant difference in TPACK maturity between male teachers and female teachers. The conclusion is that there are differences in the teacher’s TPACK maturity based on tenure lengths, but there is no significant difference based on gender.
