Abstract

Humanistic education conceptually can build peace of mind and body to achieve the virtues of a learner's life. The perfection of this life can be directed to the development of personality that includes thinking, mental strength and creativity of students by developing patterns of individual human development. The results of this study indicate that the concept of humanization and the nature of education is the element that can best distinguish humans by using their thoughts because this is a gift of reason that has been given by the creator. In addition, humans are free to use it through the learning process. This research used a qualitative approach and literature analysis as a method of data analysis. Thus, to respond to virtual learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to prioritize and apply education and methods that are better able to understand the human condition as learners. It is expected that through this process, general educational goals can be achieved and specific learning objectives can be realized.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a domino effect to increase poverty rates. In Gresik Regency, the number of layoffs (PHK) and small businesses that went out of business added new poor people so the number of PMKS increased. This study intends to describe the poverty pressure experienced by PMKS during the COVID-19 pandemic and the appropriate handling strategy. The research method used is descriptive research by conducting structured interviews to 400 PMKS in Gresik Regency. The results of this study found that the poverty pressure carried out by PMKS during the COVID-19 pandemic was a reduction in savings and assets owned to meet their daily needs during the pandemic where they lost their jobs and the businesses they were engaged in experienced setbacks, difficulties in meeting the needs of life and family nutrition, increased debt to domestic disputes and the threat of children dropping out of school. The easiest survival strategy for PMKS is to make changes to consumption patterns, while help from relatives is relatively difficult to obtain and productive activities such as business diversification are also relatively difficult to do. The coping strategy that can be done is to empower PMKS, especially the productive age group, which aims not only to prevent the fading of PMKS' ability to help themselves but in the long term they can get out of the pressures of poverty they are experiencing.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the change of urban kampung space into a tourist destination with the thematic kampung program. These changes were explored using the concepts of abstract space and Henri Lefebvre's social space which had not been used in the study of thematic kampung programs from previous literature studies. This article uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research in three cities, namely Malang, Semarang, and Surakarta with the data source being digital paper. The results of the study of this article found that some thematic kampungs had not yet developed and might not be sustainable. Even though this program is expected to become a tourist destination, in reality there are still problematic thematic kampungs. The discontinuity of this thematic kampung refers to Lefebvre's concept of social space for residents where there are still residents who do not have awareness in developing their kampung, besides that the city government as an actor in abstract space in some cases still lacks support for kampung residents. So, if the city government wants to make thematic kampung a tourist destination, it is necessary to study each kampung further in seeing the potentials that exist in it, of course by combining ideas and concepts from residents.

Abstract

The Omnibus Law is one of the biggest polemics in the socio-political calendar in 2020. For its supporters, the ratification of the Omnibus Law is an entry point for investment in Indonesia, while the opposition believes that this policy has a negative impact on exploiting natural resources and labor. This study focuses on the network structure, both social and textual, that was formed during the Omnibus Law discourse and the work of Hashtags within the framework of digital activism. This research combines descriptive qualitative research with Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Textual Network Analysis (TNA) methods with Netlytic software in collecting data and Wordji and Gephi. Data collection was carried out during September 26 to October 3 and received 1521 tweets. The results of this study indicate that civil organizations and socio-political activists are the dominant actors in voicing the public interest. The Hashtag #batalkanomnibuslaw became the most dominant phrase. Various Hashtags that show rejection of the ratification of the Omnibus Law have also become phrases that dominate in several conversations. Influential actors state that Hashtags are reducing the information complexity and need to be combined with direct organization in the real world so that it can influence public policy.

To achieve this goal, the researcher used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design. The subjects in this study were those who were pro PT Dewandra (Head of Alam Permai Village and those who were anti PT Dewandra) and those who were anti PT Dewandra (Social activists, community lawyers and people who were against PT Dewandra). The selection of research subjects was carried out using the snowball sampling technique. The researcher used data collection techniques through participant observation, indepth interviews, literature studies and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the narrative of the PT Dewandra Indonesia company profile is a form of simulacra that gives rise to hyperreality in society. On the other hand, the community narrative reflects both positive and negative realities regarding the existence of PT Dewandra for the local community and environment. The results of this study are expected to provide benefits for all stakeholders who support large company investments in the community so that various negative impacts from the company are not experienced by the community.

Abstract

The language used in public spaces is closely related to the social identity of the community. This study examines the linguistic landscape of Meulaboh City by analyzing public signs and their connection to the local community’s identity. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data consisting of 121 photos collected from several streets in Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency, including government buildings, schools, billboards, and other notable features. The findings reveal three types of signage: monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual, with a dominance of Indonesian-English usage. These findings demonstrate that language in public spaces serves not only as a tool for communication but also reflects the local community’s social and cultural identity. English is more commonly used in business contexts, while Indonesian dominates formal domains such as government offices and schools. Regional identity is not strongly reflected in the linguistic landscape of West Aceh, except in traditional eateries and coffee shops that still use the Acehnese language.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the framing of mass media narratives regarding the alleged manipulation of the 2024 Election, revealed through the research data source, namely the documentary film Dirty Vote and the TV program Bocor Alus Politik titled “Hak Angket Kecurangan Pemilu VS Tawaran Kursi Menteri Prabowo-Gibran” and "Cerita Di Balik Pemilu Satu Putaran”. The research is drawn from the narrative quotes provided by sources in both media. The methodology used is Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis with a qualitative approach, along with Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis model. The analysis technique involves identifying framing categories, including problem identification, casual interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. The results indicate that both media frame the 2024 Election as an event full of fraud and organized manipulation. The emerging narrative emphasizes the need for public awareness and decisive actions by law enforcement to maintain the integrity of democracy. Additionally, both media criticize political manipulation that undermines the democratic process and suggest that the audience should have a higher awareness when choosing leaders.
