Jurnal Ilmu Budaya (JIB) adalah jurnal ilmiah yang diterbitkan oleh Departemen Sastra Prancis Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Hasanuddin. JIB terbit secara berkala dua kali dalam setahun, periode Juni dan Desember. JIB memuat hasil-hasil penelitian dan kajian dalam bidang ilmu bahasa dan budaya Prancis, kajian bidang Bahasa dan Budaya Frankofoni, kajian linguistik, kesusastraan , kajian budaya, dan pengajaran. JIB menerima artikel, hasil penelitian, review artikel, dan editorial dalam bahasa Inggris, bahasa Prancis dan atau dalam bahasa Indonesia.

<![CDATA[This scientific paper discusses the perception of Makassar students on the application of Hangeul script in the Ciacia language. This study aims to try to explain the views of students from the Ciacia tribe who are studying in Makassar City. The results of the analysis show that Makassar students' perceptions of the application of Hangeul script in the Ciacia language are not uniform, but in general there are two opinions, namely the positive and negative. Negative perceptions came from students at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar who viewed the application of Hangeul script in the Ciacia language as an unwise decision because it was considered to be detrimental to society, eliminating the identity of the Ciacia tribe, causing language interference, the forgotten language of the ancestors.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to identify strategies used by students in paraphrasing. The sample of this study was 25 students in the fifth semester in the faculty of literature at the Muslim University of Indonesia. The benefits of this research are expected to be a reference for lecturers to develop the material being taught and for students to recognize their abilities in paraphrasing so that they can practice more. Therefore, qualitative descriptive was applied to this study, while the data obtained was a paraphrasing test. This study indicates that most of the students use synonyms followed by condensing the original text. However, not infrequently, students substitute synonyms with the same meaning but different usage, thus making the meaning of the paraphrasing text ambiguous.]]>

<![CDATA[In English, there are five essential speaking's aspects that need to be mastered by English learners such as content, fluency, coherence, grammar, and pronunciation. Unfortunately, it is difficult to be reached by EFL students. Due to this, the English teachers are required to find appropriate teaching strategies to help EFL students improve their speaking skills. The aims of this study were 1) to develop the implementation of the talking chips strategy in teaching speaking skills, 2) to improve student’s speaking skills through the talking chips strategy. The results showed that there was an improvement in students’ speaking skills after implementing the talking chips strategy. It was proven by the significant different scores of students’ speaking skills between cycle 1 and cycle 2. ]]>

<![CDATA[Tour guides are guidelines used by guides in providing services to tourists. This paper aims to discuss the register of city tour scouting programs, the use of French vocabulary, phrases and conversation in the tourism profession. The method used in this paper is a case study through tourism scouting training activities by tourism stakeholders. The source of the research data is the text of online tourism promotion media and examples of the results of the city tour program preparation exercise. The conclusion of this paper shows that tour guide is a professional field of tourism that has its register of French that must be understood and mastered by tour guides. With the use of a tour guide register, communication between guides and French tourists can be well established.]]>

<![CDATA[The Studi aims to the forms of violence the occurred in the novel Di Tanah Lada by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie and to do with the social life. The method of collecting data used in this study, which is the method of study library. The library to read a number of books and writings that have to do white objects that will be investigated. This type of data used in this study is divided into two, namely the primary and the secondary. The results showed there was a picture of the violence experienced by the child and wife conducted by the character’s father as head of the family has to do with reality. ]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to explain the commodification of Songket Silungkang in the tourism development of Sawahlunto Town. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from field observations, recorded interviews, and documentary studies of Songket Silungkang. The data obtained were processed using ethnographic methods. The results of this study found that the commodification of Songket Silungkang occurs from the production process to consumption. Factors that influence the commodification of Songket Silungkang are changes in the social structure of society, education level, media and globalization, tourism, and creative industries. SISCA implemented by the Town Government of Sawahlunto is a step to promote tourism. The positive impact of the commodification of Songket Silungkang adds to the value of Songket and improves the economy of the community, while the negative impact of the commodification of Songket Silungkang loses the meaning of the Songket Silungkang motif. ]]>

<![CDATA[This research is based on the use of the euphemism style by President Jokowi as head of state. The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the establishment of the euphemism language style used in President Jokowi's official statement for the period 2014-2019 and (2) to explain the reasons for the use of euphemism style in President Jokowi's official statement. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive language research. The results showed that President Jokowi used a style of euphemism in his official statement in the period 2014-2019. The formation of euphemism style is carried out in the form of figurative expression, flippancy, circumlocution, and hyperbole. The reason for President Jokowi's use of euphemisms is for the function of protecting oneself, presenting imagery, insinuating or subtly criticizing, avoiding panic, and the desire to retain power.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to reveal the ideological representation of Kompas news about the 2019 presidential and vice-presidential elections through text forms, discourse practices, and socio-cultural practices. The data collection techniques used are documentation techniques, text observation techniques, and note-taking techniques. The data were analyzed based on Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis. The results of this study indicate that the ideology of Kompas media represents the alignment of the presidential candidate pair Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin by looking at the form of the text which is dominated by news that strengthens the position of the presidential candidate pair Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin. ]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to reveal the morphophonemic rules of peng prefixes in Indonesian. This research is a type of qualitative research using a morphophonemic approach. The data in this study are words that use the prefix {peng-} obtained from digital track records. The method used is the listening method followed by observation and note-taking techniques. In the data analysis, the distribution method was used with the Direct Element Sharing technique. The results showed that there were three morphophonemic processes: (1) phoneme changes occurred in the prefix {peng-} which was nasalized to /pem-/, /peny-/, /pen-/, and /peng-/; (2) the addition of phonemes occurs in the affix {peng-} which is nasalized to become /penge-/; and (3) the omission of phonemes occurs in the prefix {peng-} to /pe/, and basic morphemes with initial phonemes /k/, /t/, /s/, /p/. ]]>
