Abstract

Abstract : This paper aims to describe ethnocentrism issues as the consequences of Law on Regional Autonomy. Starting from the article that became the foundation of Regional Autonomy Law, including the issuing of Law number 22 of 1999, then the review of ethnocentrism phemomena due to implementation of Regional Autonomy Law. Abstract

Abstract : This paper aims to describe the factors that influence the conflicts in the mayor direct election in Makassar city of year 2013. The finding of this research there are two factors that influence the conflicts i.e. sociological factor and institutional factor. Abstract

Abstract : International migration has now become everyday phenomena that attract the attention of many countries in the world, either directly involved as sending countries, transit countries, recipient countries, and the combination of the three or is not directly involved. Indonesia is one of the countries directly involved in international migration issues that need to be addressed tactically and strategically. This study is based on a literature review, and interviews with relevant resource persons, including those directly involved in the ratification process. This research broadly finds that the Indonesian government to ratify the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers is above the economic interests and political considerations. From the economic aspect, the Indonesian government sought to show its commitment to maintain foreign investment in Indonesia through the protection of foreign workers (TKA) which is driving investment in order to maintain economic growth in Indonesia. As for the political aspect, Indonesia seeks to improve the bargaining position to the countries of destination placement of Indonesian workers (TKI) that these countries provide maximum protection for Indonesian workers overseas.Keywords: Indonesian Government, Indonesian Workers, Foreign Workers, International Convention, Protection of Migrant Workers rights.

Abstract

Abstract : This paper aims to describe about the conflict in Ambon, Maluku within the period of 1999-2004. Conflict resolution is done in addition to mediation through the Malino agreement, also carried out using local wisdom Pela Gandong which is the bond of two or three more villages that have pledged to work together irrespective of differences in ethnicity, religion and race. Abstract

Abstract : Many women in Makassar entered into a political party, either as a member or director. When the 2009 legislative elections, many women who run as a candidate member of the legislative. However, the 2009 elections have not been able to produce a large amount of women to sit as a member of parliament of Makassar. From the 50 legislators of Makassar, only 7 of them are women. The condition occurs for at least two factors. First, the women themselves who do not have high interest to enter into practical politics. Many incoming the participation of weomen in political parties and forward as a candidate just because of family or friends, not because of the desire and consciousness itself. Second, external factors or existing systems. Opportunities for women it has been awarded with the enactment of Law No. 10 Year 2008 concerning the election of members of DPR, DPD, and DPRD which contains 30 per cent quota for women. But the political parties as the main actor did not want to give women the opportunity to volunteer. In the management of such party, very few women who hold strategic positions. Likewise, in the process of pen-candidate’s, women only exist in the third. The condition is aggravated by the Election Commission which still pass political parties nominated women less than 30 percent.Keywords: Political Women, Quotas 30 Percent, Political Party

Abstract

Abstract : Paradiplomacy as a new phenomenon in international studies brings a large number of information, but it is very scarce in theoretical framework. Paradiplomacy as a part of transnational interactions grows rapidly around the world marking local awakening to face global affairs, and it offers opportunities and obstacles. Although this first symptom came from Europe, but nowadays, local governments in Indonesia also work in the same way. The problem is how Indonesian central government and local governments face that challenge.This article wants to explore paradiplomatic understanding, paradiplomacy’s experiences from several countries and paradiplomacy in Indonesia in the context of ASEAN Economic Community 2015.Keywords: Paradiplomacy, Local government, Sub-state, Transnational

Abstract

Abstract : The increase in Chinese military spending from year to year is part of security dilemma in Asia Pacific region. Such increase in defense and military spending of China indicates its concern (security dilemma) to regional countries like Japan. In addition, to maintain hegemony as a country that has influence in region as well as the fragility of regional conflict requires China to strengthen its military defense system. Security dilemma affects countries in the world and put them in the shadow of fear. Assumption that is built within security dilemma is that the world is in anarchist position. China has been undergoing significant change after the cold war in global dan regional security diplomacy that is based on perspective that view threats and opportunities arising from international structure in general, and regional structure specifically. Therefore, China began to formulate policies that pay attention to the future security and prosperity of his country.Keywords: security dilemma, military spending, international security

Abstract

Abstract : The dynamic of the United States foreign policy toward Southeast Asia is very much affected and influenced by the rise of China and the terrorism thread in 21st century. In the era of first Bush Administration, US foreign policy was focusing on the issue of terrorism after the 9/11 tragedy. In this issue, US was engaging Indonesia and Philippines in terms of military cooperation and security. Meanwhile, in the second Bush Administration the main focus of US foreign policy was flipped into the containment against China due to the influence of China into Southeast Asia in terms of economics (free trade agreement). In the era of Obama first administration, US eventually prioritized the SEA region both bilaterally and multilaterally, which is different from the Bush administration. However, the scope of the policy remains, the same to the previous one, on the containment against China and terrorism. U.S under Obama remains emphasis on the three main elements of the containment policy; economic, alliance/partnership and diplomacy with more concentration than the Bush’s. It can be concluded that this enhanced US posture in Southeast Asia is Washington’s recognition that ASEAN is the core of both regional security and economic activities and that the US must play a major role in regional affairs as well as continuing to strengthen bilateral ties.Keywords: US Foreign Policy, China, Southeast Asia, ASEAN, Terrorism, and Containment policy,
