Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties experienced by students in understanding the double integral in polar coordinates advanced calculus courses and the factors that cause these problems. This research is qualitative. Subjects were students of the fourth semester of academic year 2015/2016 Mathematics Education, IKIP  PGRI Madiun totaling 3 persons. Data collection techniques have used that test, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis technique conducted with qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results were obtained five kinds of difficulties students in understanding the integral double the coordinates polar, namely 1) the difficulty in drawing a function in polar coordinates and determine the areas of integration, 2) the difficulty in converting the variable into polar coordinates, 3) difficulty in defining the limits of integration, 4) difficulty in writing a form of integration in polar coordinates, 5) difficulties in performing the calculations. Factors causing these difficulties is the ability to understand the matter is low, understanding in drawing a function in two-dimensional and three are still low, difficulties in visualizing the image of a function, do not understand the concept of comparison trigonometry, do not understand in determining the limits of integration in polar coordinates, less rigorous in setting limits of integration, not yet understand the concept of double integral in polar coordinates, lower integration calculation capabilities, yet integral mastered trigonometry.

Abstract

Geometri sebagai salah satu bidang kajian dalam materi matematika sekolah memperoleh porsi yang besar untuk dipelajari oleh siswa di sekolah. Dari distribusi penyebaran standar kompetensi untuk satuan pendidikan SMP, materi geometri mendapatkan porsi yang paling besar (41%) dibandingkan dengan materi lain seperti aljabar (29%), bilangan (18%), serta statistika dan peluang (12%). Namun demikian, penguasaan siswa dalam memahami konsep geometri masih rendah dan perlu ditingkatkan.Pengajaran geometri di sekolah diharapkan memberikan suatu sikap dan kebiasaan sistematik bagi siswa untuk bisa memberikan gambaran tentang hubungan-hubungan di antara bangun-bangun geometri serta penggolongan-penggolongan di antara bangun-bangun tersebut, untuk itu agar dalam pembelajaran geometri siswa dapat memvisualisasikan, menggambarkan, serta memperbandingkan bangun-bangun geometri dalam berbagai posisi, sehingga siswa dapat memahaminya dibutuhkan sebuah model pembelajaran berbasis software komputer dynamic geometry software yaitu GeoGebra. Dengan bantuan software ini siswa lebih memahami konsep-konsep dalam geometri. Pertimbangan tentang penggunaan dynamic geometry software seperti GeoGebra dalam pembelajaran matematika, khususnya geometri, diantaranya memungkinkan siswa untuk aktif dalam membangun pemahaman geometri.Pembelajaran geometri berbasis GeoGebra pada proses pembelajaran terbukti secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa, selaian itu sikap kritis dan kreatif selama pembelajaran ditunjukkan siswa. Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran geometri berbasis GeoGebra berada pada kategori sedang. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah mengalami peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis lebih baik dibandingkan hasil sebelumnya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how mathematical communication ability of students slow in learning to solve the problem of waking flat in SD Negeri 1 Sukamaju Abung semuli north Lampung. The research method used is descriptive research using qualitative approach. The result of the research can be concluded is that the students write communication is slower to learn better than oral communication, it can be seen from the result of the answer of the student who answer the correct bigger than the student answer that correct answer in oral communication. It is said that students are slow to learn to have limitations to talk or convey ideas so they are more silent or even just smiling.

Abstract

Meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis sejalan dengan paradigma baru pembelajaran matematika. Berdasarkan pra survey penulis melakukan wawancara dengan salah satu guru matematika kelas VIII  MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung dan guru tersebut mengatakan bahwa dalam proses pembelajaran  masih melakukan pembelajaran yang bersifat ekspositoris atau yang berpusat pada guru. Peserta didik terlihat kurang aktif, cenderung mendengar atau mencatat yang disampaikan oleh guru sehingga pembelajaran hanya berjalan satu arah saja. Keadaan ini sangat memperlihatkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan komunikasi peserta didik masih rendah. Dengan standar kriteria ketuntasan minimum (KKM) yaitu sebesar ≥ 70, hanya 8 dari 26 siswa kelas VIIIA yang tuntas dan 8 dari 25 siswa kelas VIIIB yang tuntas. Hal ini dapat disebabkan oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis peserta didik dan komunikasi matematis peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran yang belum berjalan dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pembelajaran dengan strategi heuristic vee terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik kelas VIII MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung.Metode penilitan ini menggunakan posttest-only design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran dengan strategi pembelajaran heuristic vee terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didikkelas VIII MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung. Hal ini juga terlihat pada hasil belajar matematika siswa yang diterapkan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan strategipembelajaran  Heuristic Vee lebih tinggi dari pada rata-rata hasil belajar matematika yang tidak menggunakan strategi pembelajaran  Heuristic Vee.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan tingkat berpikir kreatif matematis siswa MAN 1 Pesisir Barat dan hasil belajar yang kurang optimal, dan masih banyak guru yang menerapkan pembelajaran yang konvensional dan juga lemahnya penggunaan bahasa pada buku matematika serta ilustrasi yang tidak komunikatif dan interaktifsehingga tidak berhasil menyampaikan pesan inti buku.Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka perlu dikembangkan pembelajaran matematika yang dapat memberikan keleluasaan peserta didik untuk belajar berpikir secara aktif dan kreatif dalam memecahkan masalah yang dihadapi, salah satunya pembelajaran dengan menggunakan modul.Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengembangkan modul matematika dengan strategiproblem solvinguntuk mengukur tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa kelas XI MA pada materi statistika. Penelitian yang penulis lakukan merupakan penelitian pengembangan modul dengan beberapa tahap yaitu tahap analisis produk yang akan dikembangankan, tahap pengembangan produk awal, tahap validasi ahli dan tahap uji coba dan revisi, pada tahap revisi yaitu memperbaiki modul yang belum memenuhi standar uji kelayakan modul, sesuai dengan ide dan saran dari para ahli.Dalam uji coba produk, pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan menggunakan instrument tes dengan materi statistika, insrumen berbentuk essay tes kemampuan tingkat berpikir kreatif matematis siswa.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pengolahan data didapatkan hasil nilai belajar pre-testdengan nilai rata-rata 20,0645, sedangkan nilai belajar post-test memiliki rata-rata nilai 39,6774, dilihat dari nilai tersebut diketahui bahwa terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dengan selisih rata-rata kelas 19,6129. sehingga modul matematikadengan strategiproblemsolving dengan materi statistika dapat mengukur tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa.

Abstract

The phenomenon that occurs in students is the difficulty of them in detailing and sorting out the division of inheritance. In Islam everything is set up but its application in daily life has not been done with that should be. After the authors delve deeper into this material is indeed difficult to understand, especially in the details of each received by the heirs very closely related to the learning of mathematics in sub-material fractions. Lack of time allocation used in this material, resulting in them not getting examples of varied questions. The method used is qualitative descriptive method. This method tries to describe and interpret what is in accordance with the growing conditions in the ongoing process. Based on the phenomenon that occurred in the field can be concluded that the difficulties experienced by students is to determine the parts that must be accepted by the heirs that have been set in the Qur'an difficult to apply in everyday life, Islam has set clearly in the Qur'an But this has not been done properly. Another difficulty is also experienced in the learning of mathematics is on the equalization pemyebut of fractions obtained by heirs who are too many are entitled to receive inheritance.Keywords:

Abstract

SMPN 1 Batanghariin the second semester of the academic year 2012/2013.  They were two students who had field dependence cognitive style and two students who had field independence cognitive style. The subjects were taken by using the purposive sampling technique. The data of this research were gathered through think aloud method. The data were then analyzed by using the technique with the procedureas follows: (1) the data were classified on the basis of the indicators of mathematical communication after the data had been obtained from the first and the second collections; (2) the data were presented in table form; and (3) the conclusions were drawn. The validity of the data was conducted by using time triangulation. The result of this research were analyzed by using constant comparison in which subject in i (i= 1, 2) with the j (j= 1, 2) cognitive style which was already valid as well compared with subject in k (k= 1, 2) with the the j (j= 1, 2) cognitive style which was already valid as well. The equal ability of mathematical communication was made the main finding wheares the different ability of mathematical communication was made the other finding. The result of this research valid because of the dependability proved. The ability of mathematical communication of the students with the field dependence cognitive style is different from that of those with the field independence cognitive style. The students with the field dependence cognitive style can communicate the ideas in written way well but they have difficulties in communicating ideas in spoken way as well as inclination to receive information without reorganizing it in such a way that the problem-solving ideas presented cannot reveal the actual problem solution. Meanwhile, the students with the field independence cognitive style can communicate the ideas well in both spoken and written ways and process as well as reorganize information in such a way that the problem-solving ideas presented can reveal the actual problem solution.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the modification of learning models Gerlach and Ely through the integration of Islamic values can improve the ability of mathematical representation of learners. This research uses Pre-Experimental Design method with one-group pretest-posttest type. The prerequisite analysis test was performed by Liliefors test for normality and F test for homogeneity, then the data were analyzed by using N-Gain test and correlated t-test. The results of the analysis show that the mathematical representation of learners increases after using modified Gerlach and Ely learning models that are integrated with Islamic values rather than the mathematical representation of learners before using modified Gerlach and Ely learning models through the integration of Islamic values.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative research with the qualitative descriptive method. The technique of research subject taking in this research use purposive sampling technique. The subjects of this study amounted to 9 students. Data collection techniques used were questionnaire perception and disposition of students' mathematical creative thinking, observation, interview and documentation of mathematics learning. Data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The validity of data in this study using the content validity, construct validity and reliability and triangulation techniques. According to the results of the study and discussion, the conclusion of this study is Based on the gender and disposition of mathematical creative thinking, the perception of mathematics learning that is produced, that is for high DBKM and positive perception is only found in male students, for high DBKM and medium perception, Male and female students, for medium DBKM and medium perception, female students tend to be more than male students, for medium DBKM and negative perceptions of male students tend to be more than female students, for low DBKM and perception is being Only in boys, and for low DBKM and negative perceptions are only found in female students. The disposition of high mathematical creative thinking and positive perception is very influential on learning mathematics because students who have high DBKM and positive perception will be better in learning mathematics than students who have DBKM and perceptions other than high DBKM and positive perceptions of mathematics learning.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to look at the development of students' critical mathematical thinking skills of IMPROVE learning methods. This research is quasi-experimental research with a population of a student of class VII SMP PGRI Kec. Sukarame Kota Bandar Lampung for the academic year 2015/2016, while the sample in this research is the students of class VII, which come from two classes in each class chosen at random. The instruments used in this study. Data analysis using a different test. Two-way ANOVA test and test. Based on the results of data analysis resulted in mathematical learning group of students who gain learning better than students who obtain conventional learning. Students who have received IMPROVE learning, upper category students have improved mathematical critical thinking skills than middle and lower category students, while improving students' mathematical thinking skills under category is better than middle category students. There is an interaction between the learning factors with the category of students' ability there is an increase in critical thinking skills mathematically.
