Abstract

St. Francis Junior High School Kayu Putih has the idealsin line with the goals of national education, the formation of character towards a dignifiednation of civilization. The age of students in junior high school is a transitional age, therefore,need a particular approach technique to bring out good charactersfor them. The purpose of this study is to analyze the basis of character education preparation, supporting resources, implementation of character educationand character educationachievementin St. Francis Junior High School.Kayu Putih, East Jakarta. This study is a CIPP model evaluation research that effectivefor making decisions forimproving the program. The subjects were principals, deputy principals of curriculum, teachers, parents, the graduates, and students. The primary data collected using observation and interviews, whereas, the secondary data was takenfrom the documentation. We use qualitative data to analyze. The results showthat: (1) the basis for the preparation of character education is well structured, but lacking for the aspects of school policy, (2) the supporting resources were sufficient,however,needtheteachers to assist students with special cases, (3) the implementation of the character education was still under-evaluated in each of its activities, (4) for the achievement of the character education, students less able to interpret events and actions related to moral feelings.Generally, this study is beneficial for schools, teachers, parents, governments, and researchers to create innovation in the implement and make policy regard to the program of character education, especially for religious-based schools.

Abstract

This study was based on the low ability of mathematical problem solving in students of SMK Negeri 1 Dukuhturi, Tegal. The purpose of this study was (1) analyzing the effectiveness of the PBL Model assisted by Interactive CD in improving the ability to solve mathematical problems reviewed from the cognitive style of Vocational students, (2) analyzing mathematical problem solving ability reviewed from the cognitive style of FD of Vocational students in the PBL model assisted by Interactive CD, (3) analyzing the mathematical problem solving ability reviewed from the cognitive style of FI Vocational students in the PBL Model assisted by Interactive CD. The study used sequential explanatory mixed methods which were combination research methods that combine quantitative and qualitative research methods in sequence. The results showed that the average value of Post-test on students with PBL learning models assisted by interactive CD was 76. Meanwhile, the average score of Post-Test of students with interactive lecture learning was 70. The increased of the mathematical problems solving of the students achieve the classical completeness with a significance level of 0.05 obtained zvalue = 0.9901 < ztable = 2.035. The results of data reduction showed that FI students with PBL models assisted by CD Interactive had better mathematical problem-solving ability than FI students with interactive lectures. FD students with PBL models assisted by CD Interactive have better mathematical problem-solving ability than FD students with interactive lecture learning. This research can be used as an alternative to answering the problem-solving ability that occurs in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Each student has his learning style in understanding, comprehending, until practicing his already owned knowledge. Specifically, in learning the English language, all students must have the potential motivation or dominant ability affected by surroundings, habits, and also science and technology. Learning English lesson for the eleventh grader of SMAN 1 Sumber still tended to use the conventional method without supporting the result of students’ speaking ability. This research has purposed to (1) analyze the effectiveness of PBL model through picture series media to improve students’ speaking ability seen from students learning style, (2) analyze the effectiveness of learning styles to improve students’ speaking ability, and (3) analyze the interaction between learning style of the students with PBL model to improve students’ speaking ability. It was a semi-experimental model by using treatment by level 2x2 factorial design. The population was XI grader of Senior High School 1 Sumber. The samples were two randomly chosen classes: XI MIA 4 and XI MIA 7. The data of the research were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 and Two Ways ANOVA. The findings showed improvement of English speaking ability seen from student learning styles and the learning styles were effective to improve the English speaking ability of the student. There was an interaction between learning style with the PBL model in improving the English speaking ability of the students. Seen from the elaboration above, it could be explained that the intervention could improve the English speaking ability of the student. The findings would help students and teacher to recognize student learning styles and the teachers could select appropriate media and learning method to improve student learning achievements.

Abstract

Curriculum evaluation needs to be carried out to examine the achievements of the program, supporting factors for the implementation of Curriculum 2013. This study investigated the implementation of Curriculum 2013 in high school English learning in South Buton District. This Evaluative study uses CIPP (Context, Input, Process, and Product) evaluation, model. The results showed that (1) Context (school environment) consisting of the book condition, teacher's understanding of Curriculum 2013 and Curriculum 2013 training had been fulfilled in South Buton district high school related to the implementation of Curriculum 2013, (2) Input (facilities and infrastructure) South Buton is include in the good criteria with percentage of 78%, (3) Process (learning process) which consists of Preliminary Activities, management of learning, application of learning approaches/models, implementation of assessment and closing activities include in good implemented criteria with percentage of 70%, (4) product (student response in learning and learning outcomes), most student responses in learning process is in very good criteria with percentage of 83%. On aspects of spiritual and social attitudes (CC-1 and CC-2), knowledge and skills (CC-3 and CC-4) also achieve the minimum completeness criteria, namely B (66-70). Based on the results, the implementation of Curriculum 2013 in South Buton district high school in terms of CIPP has been well implemented. The result of the evaluation study especially in curriculum evaluation would be beneficial for the improvement and the development of Curriculum 2013.

Abstract

Public Senior High School 1 Semarang is a favorite High School in Semarang City, Central Java. One of the ideal schools that is the further goal study for graduates of Junior High School in Semarang even from outside Semarang. One reason is this school is known to be successful in developing the academic and non-academic potential of students. Having students with academic abilities above average and diverse talents, the target of obtaining achievements is no longer oriented to the high value of national examinations but rather how many graduates can be accepted into college. This study aims to describe an innovative curriculum work plan related to further study programs as the development of graduate competency standards. This qualitative research uses a case study approach by analyzing the data in the form of detailed descriptions of the campus early recognition program through various data sources. Data sources were obtained from interviews, observations, and documents. The results showed that the early world recognition program had a positive impact on XII grade because they had the understanding and insight related to knick-knacks for college entrance competition by measuring their ability to compete in a university and can make a choice of majors according to their passion. The successful of this program shows that the government's effort to authorize the Education Unit to develop the Curriculum 2013 into a School Curriculum is an appropriate policy especially in developing Standards Graduates Competency for of the Education Unit Level.

Abstract

Information technology began to be used in solving problems that exist in the education field, especially in the learning process. The existence of information technology is increasingly developing the conventional learning process that has various weaknesses. One of the information technology products used in the learning process is Electronic Learning: E-Learning. This study aims to develop E-Learning facilities at Pelita Harapan Bangsa Tegal Middle School. The use of the Flipped Learning approach, or it can also be called an inverted class now became popular when E-Learning is applied in teaching development and learning activities. This research includes the type of development research concerning the opinion of Borg and Gall. Products developed based on initial research is Schoology learning management system (NGOs) using the Flipped learning approach for class VII students Mail Merge eye containing materials on ICT subjects. The subjects in this trial were the subject matter of research development experts items, namely materials experts, learning media experts, and teachers, as well as subjects of class VII of Pelita Harapan Bangsa in Tegal City Middle School as potential users of the product. The technique of the data collection was done by questionnaire. This questionnaire was used to assess products that were developed in terms of product feasibility. Data were descriptively analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the tests that had been carried out, it can be assumed that the Schoology-assisted Flipped Learning approach is Appropriate to use and can increase student activity and interest in learning. The use of flipped learning helped by Schoology can be beneficial to the development of education as a whole such as long-distance learning and can be more efficient and effective in terms of collection and delivery of tasks.

Abstract

Improvement for educational quality Indonesia is continually realized by the issuance of various policies, one of them is Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 23 of 2017 on School Day. This regulation stipulates that school days begin on Monday to Friday. Hence, the review of this policy is important to identify how extent the effectiveness of its implementation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of five days school program in terms of psychological aspects and academic aspects. Also, this research is conducted using a mix method design with sequential explanatory data analysis model. Results indicated that the effectiveness of five days school program implementation could be observed from its purposes and impacts. Based on the findings at the psychological aspect indicator, there are five indicators that have not met the standards of Minister of Education and Culture Regulation thus 5 days school has not been effective to develop psychological students, meanwhile from the academic aspect, overall research indicator is in accordance with expected standards hence 5 days school has been effective in supporting the academic development of students. This research serves as a reference for a stakeholder to make regulation and how to make an effective learning process that can solve students’ psychological during five days of school.

Abstract

Semarang is one of the big cities in Indonesia that owns many popularities, such as culture and education. Semarang as the capital city of Central Java, experiencing some developments in sectors. Instead, the coffee industry also developed in Semarang. This was appeared by a lot of cafes of coffee spread on every side of Semarang. The aimed of this research was to analyze the existence of barista education in Semarang indeed. The research method applied is a qualitative method. Through applying the method, would be found comprehensive results about the existence of education of coffee barista in Semarang. The technic of collecting data was done by interview, and deeply barista coffee education in Semarang existed because of the development and need for a competent barista for the coffee industry. This research implied to reinforce the theory of education, especially for barista coffee education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of teacher training, teacher competence and school facility and infrastructure partially and simultaneously to teacher readiness in implementing Curriculum 2013 at Public Senior High School (SMAN) in Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara. The study included qualitative research using ex post facto design approach and used proportional cluster random sampling technique to collect the subjects. Total subjects in this research were 169 teachers from 807 teachers as research population at senior high school in Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara. The technique of collecting data used questionnaire and Likert scale was applied in measuring each variable. The analysis method employed multiple linear regression analysis and applied for the SPSS program. The results of this research are: (1) The quantity of the effect of teacher training to teacher readiness in implementing Curriculum 2013 was 30.20%, (2) Teachers competence to teacher readiness in implementing Curriculum 2013 was 47.40%, (3) The quantity of the effect of facilities and infrastructure to teacher readiness in implementing Curriculum 2013 was 17.20%. Teacher training, teacher competence and facilities and infrastructure to teacher readiness in simultaneously in implementing Curriculum 2013 in public school of senior high schools in Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara was 63.50% and remaining 36.50%were influenced by other factors. Teacher training, teacher competence, and facility and infrastructure have a positive and significant effect on teacher readiness in implementing Curriculum 2013 at senior high schools in Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

The implementation of the learning model is an important matter to develop students’ skills. Among them is writing – the most difficult skill. Innovation in managing learning management is a solution to improve students’ wiring skill. This research aims to find out the effectiveness of mind mapping and think pair share to improve fantasy story writing skill, to analyze the differences of male and female writing skill, and to analyze the interaction of learning model and sex types of seventh graders of Bulu 02 Primary School, Rembang City. It is a factorial (2x2) experimental research. The sample is taken by proportionate stratified random sampling. The data is analyzed using Two-way ANOVA. The findings show: (1) different effectiveness between mind mapping and think pair share aided by audiovisual media to improve fantasy story writing skill, (2) different learning achievement of male and female toward fantasy story writing skill, (3) no interaction between mind mapping and think pair share aided by audiovisual media to male and female in improving fantasy story writing skill. Based on the findings, it can be concluded: there is a difference of effectiveness of both model; there is a difference of learning achievement between male and female students, but there is no interaction between those two models to sex types of the students. This study contributes to the latest novelty of mind mapping learning model and thinks pair share in learning Indonesian language and contributes scientifically to education by providing innovation in learning the Indonesian language.
