The data analysis techniques included interactive analysis models. The results of study which was located in apublic elementary school and two private elementary schools showthe tendency of certain grouping pattern in the learning processes. The background, interest, and arts potential are the factors that influence the grouping. The integrative thematic approach in arts learning can cause the teacher to become less focused, the frequency of meetings is not constant, and material staging is rather difficult to do. In general, the learning processes were generally textbook oriented.

Abstract

Absurdism in drama script is different from the concept of absurdism in drama performance. In the performance, the absurdism can be firmly differentiated. In the script, this concept is still very confusing. Such issue will be worked out in this research by solving the following problems. 1) How is the form of absurdism in Noer’s texts of the drama tetralogy? 2) How is the characteristic of Indonesian typical absurdism in Noer’s tetralogy? 3) How is the redefinition of Indonesian distinctive absurdism based on the characteristic of Indonesian typical absurdism in Noer’s drama scripts? The method used is hermeneutics with a semiotic approach. Based on the discussion, the following conclusions are obtained. 1) Absurdism in the tetralogy Noer’s drama appears in the form of themes, characters naming, and plot or storyline. 2) The typical absurdism of Indonesian drama written by Noer is as follows. First, absurdity in drama actually appears from the belief in God. Second, human life is considered irrational, meaningless, worthless, or even playful. 3) The Indonesian distinctive absurdism redefinition based on the characteristic of Indonesian typical absurdism in Noer’s Orkes Madun is as follows. The typical Indonesian absurd drama text is a drama text that tells of the human life that is considered irrational, less meaningful, worthless, meaningless, or even considered to be playful, and arising out of trust in God.

Abstract

This study aims at developing multiple-intelligences (MI)-based materials for teaching English in elementary school. It applies the research and development method. In the exploration stage, a needs analysis and a document analysis were carried out. Thirty public elementary school teachers in Semarang filled out a questionnaire. The document analysis was meant to find out to what extent the English learning materials used by most of the teachers addressed the MI theory. In the development stage, the prototype of the model was developed, evaluated by experts and tried-out in one school. In the last stage, a pre-experimental study was carried out in three schools. The results indicated that learning materials which have variations of tasks were needed. The analysis of the learning materials showed that some intelligence types were very rarely represented. As for the prototype of the model, some revisions were required. The result of the t-test indicated that the model was effective for improving the students’ English mastery. This study suggests that the model of MI-based materials developed is appropriate for teaching English to elementary school students.

The data were validated using the credibility and research tests that are focused more on triangulation and checking. The results show that 1) ABA Kindergarten teachers have not been able to implement NNK as a basis in learning; 2) four management functions have not been fully implemented in the management model for the ABA Kindergarten teachers; 3) the NKK-based instructional training is urgent to be given and mastered by the ABA Kindergarten teachers.

Abstract

This article is a result of research on the development of multicultural character-based curriculum management model in the Islamic Boarding School (henceforth: Pesantren) Khalafiyah. The education pattern in Pesantren  Khalafiyah is a boarding school pattern. Pesantren khalafiyah is unique compared to other school types. The schools curriculum is an integrative one that combines the formal school curriculum and the pesantren curriculum. In addition, because learning patterns incorporate habituation to form multicultural characters, the curriculum development model is typically relevant to the typology of Pesantren Khalafiyah. This research was conducted at Pesantren Khalafiyah Assalam Kudus and Pesantren Muhammadiyah Kudus. The data were analyzed using the  Research and Development approach. This study aimed to develop multicultural character-based curriculum management models and procedures. The results show that the boarding school-based Pesantren Khalafiyah has special features seen from the school governance, specialty outputs, curriculum loads, and evaluative models of learning. In addition to applying the formal school curriculum, Pesantren Khalafiyah also applies non-formal charges and hidden curriculum. The cost incurred in this type of school is the overlapping between subjects - the number of subjects is more than that in regular schools - and the evaluation model of learning. The provided solution to the problems of the boarding school requires the development of integrative curriculum, which combines the madrasah, pesantren, and habituation curriculum. The integrative curriculum development design contains curriculum formulation procedures by integrating the formal school curricula with the non-formal curricula (pesantren), including the preliminary evaluation procedures.

Abstract

Early childhood education (PAUD) is an education at the level prior to the primary education that has a very important role in preparing future generations. One of the activities undertaken in an effort to improve the professionalism of early childhood education teachers is supervized by supervisors and principals. However, the academic supervision approach used currently is not in accordance with the needs of the early childhood education teachers. This study aims to (1) describe and analyze the current supervision model in Semarang Municipality; (2) describe and analyze the hypothetical model of collaborative supervision for PAUD teachers. This study uses a modified vrsion of Borg and Gall’s research and development (R & D) approach. The subjects of this research were PAUD supervisor and principal as well as PAUD teacher in Semarang Municipality. Data were drawn using interview techniques, questionnaires, documentation, and forum group discussions (FGD). The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique which included an analysis of the experts and practitioners’ validation sheets. The preliminary study yielded a factual model which shows that the supervision carried out by the PAUD supervisor has not been routine; the supervision program that he/she created is still a combination of kindergarten and elementary school programs; there has been no collaboration between supervisor and teacher; the results of the supervision have not been discussed with the teacher; there has been no follow up to the results of supervision. The conceptual model in this study was designed in accordance with the collaborative academic supervision theory that there is an agreement between supervisor and teacher therough which the supervision stages included planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow up. The results of the model development include the addition of the follow-up stage that includes monitoring the results of the supervision and guidance on a regular basis to improve the professionalism of the PAUD teachers.
