Abstract

Problem-solving skills are essential for achieving optimal learning outcomes. However, student participation in activities that develop these skills remains low, with only about 9% of students actively involved. This indicates a lack of self-confidence and a reluctance to express opinions or participate in discussions, which hinders the development of their problem-solving abilities. The Learning Cycle 9E instructional model is considered effective in enhancing these skills due to its clearly structured learning stages. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the model in increasing student learning engagement at SMA Negeri 15 Bandar Lampung. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving class XII F1 as the experimental group and class XII F2 as the control group, both of which were randomly selected using the simple random sampling technique. The results of the normality test showed that the data in both groups were normally distributed (significance values of 0.077 for the experimental group and 0.647 for the control group). The t-test revealed a significance value of 0.590, indicating no significant difference between the two groups. However, students who were taught using the Learning Cycle model demonstrated better problem-solving abilities, were more engaged, and were more capable of applying their knowledge in real-life situations compared to those taught using direct instruction

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the internalization of religious moderation values and the spiritual quotient (SQ) of students, with a particular emphasis on the role of local cultural accommodation as a key element. Religious moderation values such as tawasuth, tasamuh, tawazun, and i'tidal are internalized through educational practices and school culture, and are assumed to play a role in shaping the spiritual dimensions of students, including the meaning of life, self-awareness, and transcendental relationships. The study employs a correlational quantitative approach with parametric testing to ensure the validity and significance of the relationship. The results indicate a significant and linear relationship between the internalization of religious moderation values and the students' spiritual quotient. Local cultural accommodation emerges as a strong indicator in bridging religious values with contextual spiritual experiences. The internalization of values through local religious cultural experiences helps students develop a spirituality that is non-dogmatic, yet reflective, inclusive, and transformative. The study recommends the integration of religious moderation values with local culture-based education in the development of religious and character education curricula.

Abstract

This study examines the role of religious moderation in Islamic character education among Madrasah Aliyah students, comparing urban and rural contexts. Religious moderation, which emphasizes balance, tolerance, and inclusivity, plays a crucial role in shaping students' character by preventing extremism and promoting peaceful coexistence. Through a qualitative approach, this research explores how students in urban and rural areas internalize and apply religious moderation values in their daily lives, particularly within the framework of Islamic character education. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis from students, teachers, and headmasters in both urban and rural madrasahs. The findings show significant differences in the understanding and application of religious moderation: students in urban areas, exposed to more diverse social and cultural environments, tend to adopt a more inclusive approach to religious moderation, while students in rural areas, with more traditional environments, exhibit a narrower yet committed understanding. Despite these differences, both groups emphasize the importance of religious moderation in promoting tolerance, empathy, and social responsibility. The study also identifies challenges in implementing religious moderation in both environments, particularly the limited exposure to diverse perspectives in rural areas. These findings contribute to the development of more contextual and equitable Islamic education policies and curricula, tailored to the social and geographical context of students, to ensure that religious moderation can be effectively integrated into character education.

Abstract

This study examines the reception and symbolic meaning of 'Salawat' within the context of the A.M Assembly in Wonokromo Pleret Bantul, using the Living Hadith approach. Salawat, as one of the main practices in Islam, is not only understood as the recitation of phrases but also as an expression of love, respect, and spiritual attachment to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). While traditional Hadith studies focus more on textual analysis, this research highlights how the Hadith regarding Salawat is understood and practiced as a living tradition within the community. This study reveals that the practice of Salawat in the A.M Assembly is more than just a theoretical or textual understanding; it is internalized and expressed through ritual actions, symbolism, and collective experience. The study also demonstrates that Salawat serves as a social and religious bond, reinforcing community cohesion and affirming ethical values among the participants. Using a field-based qualitative research method, including interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, this research investigates how the symbolic meaning of Salawat develops and resonates within the community, reflecting the dynamic integration of religious teachings within the local cultural context. This study contributes to a broader understanding of Living Hadith as a methodological approach and offers new insights into how Islamic traditions are adapted and internalized in local practices, while enriching the relevance of Hadith in contemporary religious life.
