Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning motivation of students in accounting subjects. The study aims to develop Android-based learning media using MIT App Inventor that is feasible, practical, effective, and can improve learning motivation of grade XI AKL students at SMK Negeri 1 Medan. This development research used the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) and involved 32 students of class XI AKL 1 in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The media was validated by material experts (98%), media experts (90%), and practitioner experts (95%). Student responses showed the media was effective (82%). Motivation improvement was proven through a t-test, with t-count = 29.149 > t-table = 2.0395 and Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05. The developed media includes interactive content accessible via Android, facilitating independent and engaging learning. The results confirm that the Android-based learning media assisted by MIT App Inventor is feasible, effective, and significantly increases students' motivation in learning financial accounting, particularly on fixed asset material

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Android-based learning application called AiC: Accounting in Companion integrated with Gemini AI to assist vocational students in understanding Financial Accounting. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. Research instruments included expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test). The research subjects consisted of 30 students from class XI AKL SMKN 7 Medan. The results showed a material feasibility level of 93% (Very Feasible) and a media feasibility level of 75% (Feasible). The practicality test by students obtained an average score of 91% (Very Practical). The effectiveness test using N-Gain analysis resulted in a score of 0.41, which falls into the Medium improvement category. The primary feature, AI-driven smart recommendations, successfully provided personalized guidance and automatic material navigation for students experiencing difficulties in quizzes. The conclusion of this study is that the AiC application is very feasible, practical, and effective as an innovative adaptive learning medium in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of punishment and learning motivation on learning outcomes through learning discipline as a mediating variable among tenth-grade Accounting students at SMK Negeri 7 Medan. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design involving 209 students selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results showed that punishment did not significantly affect learning outcomes, indicated by a coefficient value of 0.106 and p-values of 0.150. In contrast, learning motivation had a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes with a coefficient value of 0.276 and p-values of 0.000. Punishment and learning motivation also had positive and significant effects on learning discipline, with coefficient values of 0.436 and 0.350, respectively. Furthermore, learning discipline significantly affected learning outcomes and mediated the relationship between punishment, learning motivation, and learning outcomes. The novelty of this study lies in the placement of learning discipline as a mediating variable in explaining the relationship between punishment, learning motivation, and learning outcomes among vocational high school students, particularly in accounting education.
