Abstract

West Aceh waters, one of the coastal areas across front the Indian Ocean. Fishermen generally catch various types of crustaceans. This research aims to identify crustacean types and determine the value of diversity as a determinant of the status of West Aceh waters. This research was conducted using a survey method in June - July 2022. Initial sample identification was by sorting crustacean groups from fishermen's catches landed at PPI Ujong Baroh. Data were processed using the Shannon-Wienner diversity index. The results of this study indicate that the composition of fishermen's catches includes Acetes indicus (18%), Harpiosquilla raphidea (10%), Litopenaeu vannamei (15%), Metapenaeus ensis (14%), Metapenaeus monoceros (11%), Metapenaeus rosea (8%), Penaeus indicus (10%), Penaeus monodon (2%), Portunus sanguinolentus (12%). The diversity value (H') of crustaceans is classified as moderate (2.11). So, it can be assumed that West Aceh waters are vulnerable to pollution and disturbance.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate a communication model in stakeholder collaboration for the sustainable implementation of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) events in Medan City. The MICE industry plays a crucial role in driving regional economic growth; however, its sustainable implementation still faces challenges related to weak synergy and coordination among stakeholders. The lack of communication strategies in collaboration has resulted in suboptimal implementation of sustainability principles across various economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This study uses a quantitative approach, with data analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The variables studied include social capital (consisting of cognitive, relational, and structural dimensions), stakeholder collaboration through communication strategies, and the sustainability of MICE events. Data were collected through a survey of MICE industry players in Medan City. The results show that cognitive capital and relational capital have a positive and significant influence on the effectiveness of stakeholder communication and collaboration, while structural capital has a positive but insignificant influence. Furthermore, communication in stakeholder collaboration significantly influences the sustainability of MICE events and is shown to mediate the relationship between social capital and event sustainability. The total effects analysis shows that stakeholder collaboration serves as a key link strengthening the contribution of social capital to event sustainability. The R² value for communication in stakeholder collaboration is 0.663 and for event sustainability is 0.655, indicating strong explanatory power of the model. Furthermore, the Goodness of Fit (GoF) value of 0.57 indicates good model fit.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen household food independence in Purwosari Village, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, through the implementation of an Integrated Farming system that combines poultry rearing and household-scale catfish cultivation. Integration is achieved through a circular nutrient flow mechanism, where poultry manure is processed into organic fertilizer for plants. At the same time, nutrient-rich catfish pond water is utilized as a fertilizer for home gardens. Home garden plants play a role as a nutrient-cycle connector, where crop residues and household organic waste are reused as alternative feed for poultry and catfish, thereby forming a zero-waste production system. Activities were carried out through socialization, technical training, and mentoring for 25 members of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) and 6 health cadres. Program implementation showed an improvement in participants’ understanding, as evidenced by a rise in average scores from 45% on the pre-test to 90% on the post-test. Additionally, this program successfully facilitated the availability of independent family protein sources and increased the efficiency of backyard waste utilization. Overall, the systematic integration of poultry and catfish demonstrates a practical model for strengthening food security and developing family economies at the village level.
