Abstract

The digital transformation of education in Indonesia has evolved from basic service digitization toward data-driven governance increasingly reliant on artificial intelligence. While the integration of artificial intelligence in educational governance promises administrative efficiency and optimized decision-making, it simultaneously raises ethical concerns related to algorithmic bias, accountability, transparency, and the potential erosion of humanistic educational values. This study aims to critically analyze the ethical implications of artificial intelligence deployment in Indonesian educational governance and examine its relevance to strengthening religious moderation as a strategic national education agenda. The research employs a qualitative approach using a critical literature review design combined with policy analysis. Data were drawn from reputable scholarly publications, international policy frameworks, and national regulations concerning digital transformation and religious moderation. The analysis proceeded through thematic identification, normative evaluation grounded in principles of algorithmic justice and human-centered governance, and contextual synthesis within Indonesia’s plural socio-religious landscape. The findings indicate that without a robust ethical framework, artificial intelligence-driven governance risks reproducing structural inequalities and narrowing pluralistic dialogue. This study proposes a conceptual ethical governance model aligned with religious moderation, emphasizing risk mapping, ethical design protocols, meaningful human oversight, public accountability mechanisms, and continuous evaluation. The model offers a normative and operational reference for policymakers and educational institutions to ensure that digital transformation remains aligned with justice, inclusivity, and social cohesion.

Abstract

Weekly religious study activities are one form of religious programs that function not only as a means of enhancing Islamic understanding but also as an effective medium for strengthening social solidarity among youth. This study aims to describe the implementation of weekly religious study activities, analyze their impact on improving social solidarity, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors of these activities among the youth of Jami’ Al-Falah Mosque in Pragaan, Sumenep. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of the head of the mosque youth organization and five youth members. The results show that the weekly religious study activities are conducted regularly and systematically with a series of religious and social activities. These activities have a positive impact on enhancing social solidarity, which is reflected in indicators such as mutual cooperation, mutual assistance, cooperation, and brotherhood. Supporting factors include support from mosque administrators and parents, strong collective spirit among members, and a friendly and comfortable atmosphere during the activities. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include members’ busy schedules, weather conditions, and transportation limitations. Overall, weekly religious study activities play a significant role as a religious and social development medium in strengthening social solidarity among mosque youth.

Abstract

Mobile Legends is a game that is widely popular among all demographics, particularly teenagers, and can lead to dependency or addiction. The impact of this online game also affects children’s academic performance and behavior, potentially leading to social deviance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Mobile Legends on students’ social attitudes. This study is an ex post facto study. The target population consists of all students at SMP Islam Nurul Iman. The sampling technique used was saturation sampling. Data collection methods included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis employed simple linear regression using SPSS software. The results revealed a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.429 with an R-squared value (coefficient of determination) of 0.184, indicating that Mobile Legends has an influence on students’ social attitudes. Changes in social behavior include rarely socializing with peers, becoming easily emotional toward the surrounding environment, reduced interaction with parents, and decreased study time. Efforts to prevent these impacts can be undertaken by parents, teachers, and the adolescents themselves. These include managing playtime and parental guidance in technology use

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) has become increasingly important in addressing complex global challenges affecting national resilience, including environmental crises, technological disruption, and social transformation. However, its implementation in social studies learning remains limited, particularly in integrating advanced technology with local wisdom values. This study aims to conceptually examine the strengthening of ESD through the integration of artificial intelligence within an ethnopedagogical approach in social studies education. The research employs a literature review method with an analytical-critical approach, drawing on relevant and reputable scientific sources published over the past decade. The findings indicate that artificial intelligence enhances learning through improved accessibility, personalization, and data-driven instruction, while ethnopedagogy reinforces contextual relevance by embedding local cultural values. The integration of these dimensions within the ESD framework offers a comprehensive learning model that is adaptive, contextual, and oriented toward developing students’ critical awareness of sustainability issues. This study highlights the importance of constructing an integrative conceptual framework that combines technology and local wisdom as a strategic approach to strengthening sustainable national resilience.

Abstract

Religious institutions are not limited to being a place to internalize religious values, another vital function is to participate in improving the quality of education for the better with or without assistance from the government. One of the religious institutions that has a contribution to improving quality education is the Muhammadiyah religious institution. This study examines Muhammadiyah religious institutions in Pamekasan. The methods used in this study are qualitative by conducting in-depth observations and interviews. This study interviewed the caregivers of orphanages and administrators of the Pamekasan Muhammadiyah Education Institute and analyzed from a sociological perspective. The contribution of Muhammadiyah Education Institutions can be seen in three aspects; first, striving for quality education for the lower middle class, in order to empower the lower middle class to have equal opportunities to access education. This effort supports SDGs point 4. Second, strengthening soft skills with various programs in orphanages and schools. In addition, it provides free housing and food clothing for students living in orphanages who are on average from the lower middle class, supporting SDGs point 1. Third, providing opportunities for social mobility for the lower class by providing soft skills in the form of book reading skills, memorizing the Qur'an above 10 juices, Arabic and English skills so that they can compete for free S2 and S3 scholarships.

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) has become a strategic approach in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the integration of environmental, social, cultural, policy, and technological transformation aspects within education. This study aims to analyze the trends of ESD research in Indonesia, Singapore and Japan based on several major themes, namely Culture and Social, Environmental and Energy, Policy and Regulation, and Technology and AI for Supporting ESD. The study employed a literature review approach by analyzing scientific articles from various national and international universities. The findings reveal that the implementation of ESD has evolved toward a multidisciplinary approach emphasizing the integration of local culture, ecological literacy, character education, educational policy, and digital transformation. Previous studies demonstrate that experience-based learning, inquiry learning, ethnopedagogy, and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can enhance students’ critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, social awareness, and environmental responsibility. Furthermore, the successful implementation of ESD is strongly influenced by the synergy among educational policies, local cultural values, technological innovation, and active community participation. Therefore, ESD should not merely be understood as environmental education, but rather as a process of social transformation that supports holistic and contextual sustainable development.

Abstract

Interfaith social interaction in the workplace represents a crucial yet underexplored dimension of religious tolerance in plural societies. This study examines the social interactions between Muslim workers and non-Muslim visitors at the Avalokitesvara Temple in Pamekasan, Indonesia, a Buddhist place of worship that employs workers from diverse religious backgrounds. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through non-participant observation, in-depth interviews with Muslim workers and non-Muslim visitors, and documentation. The findings reveal that social interactions within the temple environment are predominantly associative, characterized by cooperation, accommodation, and mutual respect. Initially driven by economic motives, these interactions gradually developed into broader social relationships grounded in trust, tolerance, and respect for religious differences. Muslim workers demonstrated adaptive strategies, including professional conduct, respectful communication, and boundary awareness during religious rituals, while institutional openness and family support strengthened their sense of comfort and belonging. This study contributes to the literature on interfaith relations by highlighting how everyday workplace interactions can function as a practical arena for fostering religious tolerance and social harmony in multicultural societies.
