Abstract

This study aims to examine the transformation of Social Sciences (IPS) learning in Indonesia, from the citizenship transmission approach to contextual learning in the 21st century. Using the literature study method, this study analyzed various sources such as books, journals, and articles related to the development of social studies education. The results of the study show that social studies in Indonesia has evolved from simply delivering civic values to more integrative and skill-based learning in the 21st century, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This change was influenced by the dynamics of the national curriculum, starting from the 1975 and 1984 Curriculum to the Merdeka Curriculum. The implementation of social studies learning now emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, character development, and the use of innovative methods such as Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Inquiry-Based Learning. However, challenges are still found, including limited teacher competence, limited resources, and resistance to changes in learning methods. Therefore, it is necessary to increase teacher professionalism and strengthen innovation in learning to realize the goals of social studies education that is adaptive to the needs of the times. This study affirms the importance of social studies in shaping a generation that is critical, ethical, and ready to become agents of change in the midst of global complexity.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of government policy on the success of education digitalisation in developing countries. The study uses a literature review method. The results show that government regulation and investment play an important role in improving the accessibility of educational technology, especially in remote areas. Policies that focus on providing adequate infrastructure, such as internet access and hardware, are key factors in facilitating the digitalisation of education. In addition, teacher training and competency development are important aspects that need attention to ensure that technology can be effectively integrated into the learning process. The importance of inclusive policies is also emphasised to reduce the digital divide through device subsidies and internet fee assistance programmes to ensure equal access for all students. In conclusion, comprehensive and well-planned government policies can encourage the successful digitalisation of education and improve the quality of education in developing countries.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze cross-cultural education strategies in fostering multicultural awareness among junior high school students from the perspective of Legal and Citizenship Education. This study uses a qualitative library research approach, reviewing various scientific literature, accredited journals, and relevant educational policy documents. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model of thematic analysis. The results of the study indicate three main themes: (1) the integration of multicultural values in PPKn learning, (2) cross-cultural dialogue as a means of internalizing values, and (3) inclusive school culture and multicultural leadership as a foundation for strengthening national character. These findings confirm that cross-cultural education contributes to the formation of legal and social awareness among students, while expanding the function of PPKn as an instrument of democratic character education. This study recommends the integration of cross-cultural strategies in the national education curriculum and policy.

Abstract

This study examines the ethical foundations of Islamic banking management through the integration of the values of amanah (trust) and 'adl (justice), the main moral pillars of Islam. Despite the rapid growth of the Islamic banking industry, a gap remains between the ideals of Islamic principles and the reality of managerial implementation, where profit-oriented practices often override ethical considerations. Using a qualitative literature research approach, this study systematically reviews the academic literature to explore how the values of amanah (trust) and justice are operationalized within the strategic and managerial frameworks of Islamic banks. The analysis reveals that previous studies tend to discuss these two values separately without highlighting their synergy and interdependence in forming an integrative ethical governance model. Amanah (trust) is embodied in transparency, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility, while justice is reflected in proportional profit sharing, equal treatment, and fair financial inclusion. The integration of these two values within the framework of Sharia governance and stakeholder theory forms a distinctive managerial ethic that distinguishes Islamic banks from conventional systems. This conceptual synthesis provides theoretical contributions to the study of Islamic management as well as practical recommendations for strengthening ethical sustainability in Islamic financial institutions.
