Abstract

The emergence of digital technologies, particularly financial technology (FinTech) and blockchain systems, has transformed the landscape of Islamic social finance, offering new opportunities to strengthen the effectiveness of zakat management in the era of Zakat 4.0. Persistent inefficiencies in conventional zakat collection and distribution—such as limited outreach, administrative delays, and lack of transparency—continue to hinder its potential for sustainable poverty alleviation. The digitalization of zakat institutions presents a promising pathway to enhance accountability, expand access, and ensure that zakat reaches eligible beneficiaries in a timely and equitable manner. This study aims to examine how FinTech and blockchain-based platforms contribute to optimizing zakat collection and distribution within contemporary socio-economic contexts. The research focuses on identifying the technological mechanisms that improve data accuracy, enhance donor trust, streamline verification processes, and support evidence-based targeting of mustahiq populations. The analysis also evaluates how digital platforms align with sharia principles while addressing operational challenges faced by zakat agencies. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining systematic literature review, analysis of secondary data from digital zakat platforms, and semi-structured interviews with practitioners from zakat institutions in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Quantitative indicators—such as collection growth, transaction transparency, and distribution efficiency—were triangulated with qualitative insights to produce a comprehensive understanding of digital transformation in zakat management. The findings show that FinTech and blockchain significantly increase zakat collection rates, improve traceability, and reduce administrative leakages through smart contracts and automated reporting. The results suggest that digital zakat systems strengthen institutional credibility and foster greater participation among donors, ultimately enhancing the poverty alleviation impact. The study concludes that Zakat 4.0 represents a transformative model capable of establishing a more transparent, inclusive, and data-driven zakat ecosystem.

Abstract

Creative technology has emerged as a transformative element in social infrastructure, offering innovative pathways to enhance community engagement, inclusivity, and sustainable development. Traditional social entrepreneurship models often face limitations in scalability, accessibility, and equitable participation, highlighting the need for integrated technological frameworks that support systemic impact. Digital platforms, collaborative tools, and virtual innovation provide mechanisms to facilitate co-creation, resource mobilization, and participatory decision-making within entrepreneurial initiatives. This study aims to examine how creative technology functions as social infrastructure to enable sustainable and inclusive entrepreneurial models. Specific objectives include identifying mechanisms through which technology enhances community engagement, evaluating its impact on measurable social outcomes, and developing a conceptual framework to guide practitioners in designing effective interventions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys of 60 participants with qualitative interviews and case study observations. Data analysis incorporated descriptive and inferential statistics alongside thematic coding to explore patterns of engagement, skill development, and social impact. Findings indicate that technology-mediated social infrastructure significantly increases engagement, co-creation, and empowerment. Abstract

Background. The coral reef ecosystems of Kepulauan Seribu National Park, crucial for marine biodiversity and local livelihoods, face severe anthropogenic pressures from coastal development and tourism. Community-Based Conservation (CBC) has emerged as a vital strategy to counteract this degradation, yet its specific impacts in this high-pressure marine area require rigorous evaluation. Purpose. This research evaluates the ecological efficacy and socioeconomic contributions of established CBC programs in Kepulauan Seribu. The study investigates the key factors influencing successful community participation and the resulting impacts on coral reef health. Methods. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative ecological surveys with qualitative socioeconomic analysis. Ecological data were collected via Line Intercept Transects (LIT) at multiple CBC-managed sites and non-CBC (control) sites. Socioeconomic data were gathered through semi-structured interviews (n=120) with community members, program managers, and local stakeholders. Results. The findings indicate that CBC-managed reefs exhibited significantly higher live coral cover and greater reef fish biomass compared to control sites. Socioeconomic analysis revealed enhanced community stewardship, supplementary income streams, and increased environmental awareness. However, institutional challenges, particularly funding instability and policy conflicts with tourism development, were identified as persistent obstacles. Conclusion. Community-based conservation demonstrates tangible success in mitigating reef degradation in Kepulauan Seribu. This study concludes that while CBC is effective, its long-term sustainability hinges on strengthening institutional support, resolving resource-use conflicts, and ensuring equitable benefit sharing for participating communities.

Abstract

Social media marketing has become a powerful tool for shaping brand image and influencing consumer behavior, particularly in the context of halal products. As the global demand for halal products continues to grow, understanding how social media marketing impacts brand image and purchase intention is critical for businesses targeting Muslim consumers. However, limited research has explored this relationship, especially in emerging markets where halal product consumption is rapidly increasing. This study aims to examine the influence of social media marketing on brand image and purchase intention for halal products, providing insights into how businesses can leverage social media to enhance consumer engagement and drive sales. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing survey data collected from 300 Muslim consumers in Indonesia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the relationships between social media marketing, brand image, and purchase intention. The findings reveal that social media marketing significantly enhances brand image (? = 0.52, p < 0.001) and purchase intention (? = 0.48, p < 0.001). Brand image also mediates the relationship between social media marketing and purchase intention, indicating its pivotal role in influencing consumer decisions. This study highlights the importance of social media marketing in building a positive brand image and driving purchase intention for halal products. The results suggest that businesses should prioritize engaging and authentic social media strategies to attract and retain Muslim consumers.

Abstract

Islamic inheritance laws, derived from Shariah principles, play a critical role in shaping wealth distribution and economic behavior in Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia. However, the implementation of these laws often faces challenges due to the coexistence of customary (adat) laws and national legal frameworks, leading to disputes and inefficiencies in wealth management. This study examines the legal and financial implications of Islamic inheritance laws in Indonesia, focusing on their impact on wealth distribution, family welfare, and economic development. The research aims to identify gaps in the current legal framework and propose recommendations for harmonizing Islamic inheritance laws with national regulations to enhance their economic effectiveness. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study analyzes legal documents, court rulings, and financial data, complemented by interviews with legal experts, religious scholars, and families affected by inheritance disputes. The findings reveal that while Islamic inheritance laws promote equitable wealth distribution, their implementation is often hindered by legal ambiguities, lack of public awareness, and resistance from customary law practitioners. These challenges result in prolonged disputes, unequal asset distribution, and reduced economic productivity. The study concludes that harmonizing Islamic inheritance laws with national legal frameworks and enhancing public education on inheritance rights are essential for maximizing their economic benefits.

Abstract

Sharia economic dispute resolution is a critical component of Islamic finance, with varying institutional frameworks and procedural approaches across Southeast Asia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. Differences in tribunal specialization, arbitration adoption, and procedural codification create both convergence and divergence in dispute management practices. This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of Sharia economic dispute resolution mechanisms in Indonesia, Malaysia, and selected GCC countries, identifying patterns of regulatory alignment, institutional effectiveness, and procedural standardization. A qualitative-dominant research design was employed, combining doctrinal legal analysis, evaluation of tribunal guidelines, review of case law, and semi-structured expert interviews. Data were synthesized to assess tribunal specialization, resolution duration, arbitration use, and procedural compliance across jurisdictions. Results indicate that Malaysia and GCC states exhibit higher tribunal specialization, faster case resolution, greater adoption of arbitration frameworks, and more standardized procedures compared to Indonesia. Indonesia demonstrates longer case durations, lower procedural codification, and limited tribunal specialization, highlighting areas of regulatory divergence. The study concludes that regulatory convergence is partially evident between Malaysia and GCC, while Indonesia represents a divergent model, emphasizing the role of institutional design, procedural codification, and arbitration mechanisms in effective Sharia dispute resolution. Findings offer implications for harmonization initiatives, capacity building, and cross-border policy coordination in Islamic finance.
