Abstract

Abstract Stunting remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, including in Toba Regency. One of the efforts to prevent stunting is by improving mothers’ knowledge regarding the preparation of complementary feeding (MPASI) based on local food ingredients. This activity aimed to increase the knowledge of housewives through education and cooking demonstrations on MPASI in Sigapiton Village. The participants were 15 housewives with children under five years old. The methods used included health education, cooking demonstrations, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge scores after the intervention. The average post-test score was higher than the pre-test score. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, so the analysis was continued using a paired sample t-test. The test results showed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05). This indicates that the educational activity was effective in improving participants’ knowledge. In conclusion, education through cooking demonstrations of MPASI based on local food ingredients can be an effective strategy to improve mothers’ knowledge as an effort to prevent stunting. Similar activities are expected to be conducted continuously to achieve a broader impact. Keywords: education; complementary feeding; local food; cooking demonstration; stunting.

Abstract

Hospital healthcare plays a vital role in ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of national health systems. The implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) has become a strategic approach to improving service consistency, patient safety, and organizational performance. Hospital accreditation serves as an external evaluation mechanism that promotes compliance with established standards and continuous quality improvement. This study employed a qualitative descriptive literature review approach to examine the relationship between accreditation standards, QMS implementation, service quality, and patient satisfaction. A total of 48 articles were initially identified from relevant databases. After duplicate removal and title–abstract screening, 27 articles remained. Following full-text assessment based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 5 articles were finally selected for analysis. The findings indicate that accreditation strengthens structured procedures, documentation systems, patient safety culture, and internal monitoring processes. Accredited hospitals tend to demonstrate better procedural compliance and service delivery. Furthermore, service quality dimensions—reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles—are strongly associated with patient satisfaction. The novelty of this study lies in integrating accreditation standards, QMS implementation, service quality, and patient satisfaction into one analytical framework. In conclusion, integrating accreditation standards with continuous quality improvement and patient-centered strategies is essential to achieving sustainable service quality and higher patient satisfaction in hospitals.

Abstract

Indonesia’s National Health Insurance (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional/ JKN) has become a major policy instrument in expanding healthcare access and supporting the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of JKN in improving healthcare access and service quality through a literature review approach. Articles published between 2020–2025 were identified from relevant academic sources. A total of 48 articles were initially identified. After duplicate removal and title–abstract screening, 27 articles remained. Following full-text assessment based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 5 articles were finally selected for analysis. The findings indicate that JKN has significantly increased healthcare utilization, reduced financial barriers, and accelerated Indonesia’s progress toward UHC. However, disparities in healthcare utilization, regional access, and service quality remain important challenges. Strategic purchasing reforms through Performance-Based Capitation (KBK) have contributed to improving provider performance, while digital transformation through Mobile JKN has enhanced administrative efficiency and user satisfaction. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of these reforms depends on infrastructure readiness, human resource capacity, and monitoring systems. The novelty of this study lies in presenting an integrated perspective linking healthcare access, quality of care, strategic purchasing, and digital transformation in evaluating JKN effectiveness. In conclusion, JKN has demonstrated measurable progress in expanding access, but strengthening financing sustainability, provider capacity, monitoring systems, and equitable digital innovation remains essential to ensure that broader access consistently leads to high-quality health outcomes.
