Abstract

The rapid increase in population and urbanization has led to significant challenges in waste management, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. According to the World Bank, global waste generation reached 2.56 billion metric tons in 2022, and under a business-as-usual scenario, this figure is projected to rise to 3.86 billion metric tons by 2050. At Politeknik Negeri Medan, a growing concern has emerged over the inefficiency of traditional waste disposal systems, which often result in environmental pollution and ineffective sorting processes. This paper proposes the design of an IoT-based Smart Waste Sorting System tailored for campus environments as a pilot model for broader smart city implementation. The proposed system integrates IoT technologies such as sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless communication to automatically detect, identify, and sort waste into appropriate categories: organic, inorganic, and recyclable. Data from smart bins are transmitted in real-time to a central monitoring dashboard, enabling efficient waste collection scheduling and reducing overflow incidents. The system also includes a fire detection feature for safety and a data analytics module to forecast waste generation trends. By implementing this system at Politeknik Negeri Medan, we aim to enhance environmental awareness, optimize waste handling processes, and support sustainable campus initiatives. The results demonstrate that IoT integration in waste sorting contributes significantly to improving operational efficiency and can serve as a scalable model for smart waste management in urban areas.

Abstract

Problems that often occur in the world of spring bed sales business are frequent ups and downs in predictions, the difficulty of detecting patterns in what can increase sales from buyers makes spring bed sales business people often experience losses, this also happens because business people don't know the strategy. Certainly in increasing sales, it is necessary to make predictions with a high level of accuracy, one of which is with the help of the application of computer science data mining using the C4.5 method. The C4.5 method used in this research is able to produce an optimal decision tree, with the ability to sort out the most relevant attributes in predicting springbed sales. The use of this data mining algorithm is expected to provide insight to springbed business players in making strategic decisions, such as stock management, production planning and more effective marketing campaigns. The experimental steps in this research include collecting springbed sales data. Experimental results show that the Decision Tree algorithm using the C4.5 method is able to provide spring bed sales predictions with an adequate level of accuracy. This model can help Springbed sales business players in planning more appropriate business strategies based on estimated market demand to increase the ups and downs of sales

Abstract

Badan Kemakmuran Masjid (BKM) Baitul Ilmi Politeknik Negeri Medan mengelola informasi kegiatan dan keuangan secara konvensional melalui pengumuman fisik dan grup pesan, sehingga jangkauan informasi terbatas dan transparansi keuangan belum optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan merancang dan mengimplementasikan website berbasis Laravel sebagai media informasi digital dan sarana transparansi keuangan BKM. Metode yang digunakan adalah perancangan dan implementasi langsung melalui tahapan analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, pengembangan, pengujian, dan serah terima. Website mencakup fitur manajemen berita, jadwal sholat otomatis berbasis API, laporan keuangan transparan, donasi online, galeri dokumentasi, dan dashboard administrasi. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan website berhasil diakses publik dan mampu meningkatkan jangkauan informasi serta mewujudkan akuntabilitas pengelolaan keuangan masjid secara digital.
