Abstract

Abstract

Fraud remains one of the most persistent and systemic risks confronting conventional commercial banks worldwide. Despite significant regulatory reforms, advancements in governance frameworks, and the adoption of sophisticated digital control systems, fraudulent activities continue to undermine bank performance, financial stability, and public trust. This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles published in Scopus-indexed Q1–Q2 journals between 2019 and 2024, focusing exclusively on conventional commercial banks. Guided by the PRISMA framework, the review synthesizes existing evidence on the determinants of bank fraud, fraud detection mechanisms, and the impacts of fraud on bank performance and stability. The findings reveal that fraud in conventional banks is primarily driven by governance weaknesses, behavioral and ethical failures, regulatory and institutional gaps, and emerging digital risks. While internal controls, auditing, forensic accounting, and advanced analytics significantly enhance fraud detection, their effectiveness varies across institutional contexts. Fraud is shown to exert substantial adverse effects on profitability, solvency, and reputational capital, with implications that extend beyond individual banks to the broader financial system. This review contributes to the literature by integrating fragmented findings into a coherent analytical framework and by identifying critical research gaps and policy implications for regulators and bank management.

Abstract

The proliferation of social media has revolutionized activism, particularly in Global South countries, where traditional forms of protest often face significant constraints. This research examines the rise of digital movements facilitated by social media platforms, focusing on how these tools empower marginalized communities and amplify their voices. The study aims to analyze the strategies employed by activists and the impact of social media on mobilization and advocacy efforts in these regions. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, combining quantitative surveys of social media users involved in activism with qualitative interviews of key activists and organizations. Data were collected from several Global South countries to provide a comprehensive understanding of the digital activism landscape. Findings indicate that social media not only enhances the visibility of social issues but also fosters community building and solidarity among diverse groups. Activists reported increased engagement and reach through digital platforms, which have allowed them to bypass traditional media gatekeepers. The research concludes that social media plays a pivotal role in the resurgence of activism in the Global South, enabling grassroots movements to flourish. While digital tools offer unprecedented opportunities for mobilization, challenges such as misinformation and state repression remain prevalent. This study highlights the need for ongoing research into the dynamics of digital activism, particularly in understanding how social media can be leveraged to sustain movements and promote social change in the Global South. The insights gained contribute to the broader discourse on the evolving nature of activism in the digital era.

Abstract

Background. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a systematic review of Scopus-indexed journal articles on fraud prevention published between 2021 and 2025. An initial search using targeted keywords yielded 4,283 articles, which were refined through specific filters, resulting in 24 articles for full-text analysis. Purpose. The findings confirm that well-designed internal controls enhance governance, reduce fraud risks, and improve organizational performance across diverse contexts such as China, France, Jordan, and Egypt. Method. The effectiveness of internal controls is shaped by institutional ownership, audit quality, digital transformation, and IT integration. Anti-fraud strategies are closely tied to transparency, monitoring, and risk management, while institutional factors like mandatory audits and ownership reforms strengthen control systems. Results. These insights suggest that managers should invest in robust, technology-supported internal controls tailored to their institutional context.   Conclusion. Future research should examine the evolving impact of digitalization and governance changes on internal control effectiveness, particularly in emerging markets and high-risk sectors.

Abstract

Background. This research explores global studies on crypto asset audits in Decentralized Finance (DeFi) from 2021 to 2025 through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach, highlighting technological advancements like machine learning and hybrid analytics that enhance audit accuracy, fraud detection, and scalability. Purpose. Auditing practices have expanded to include smart contracts, compliance, security, and environmental audits. However, challenges persist, such as the lack of global regulatory standards, decentralized control, security risks, and instability within DeFi protocols. Method. Despite advancements, effective audits in DeFi require aligning technological innovation with adaptable regulatory frameworks to ensure sustainability and trust. Results. Managerially, DeFi platforms should integrate emerging technologies into auditing practices and collaborate with regulators to address compliance gaps, particularly in anti-money laundering (AML) and transparency.   Conclusion. Future research should focus on developing global DeFi regulations, exploring decentralized auditing methods, and investigating the impact of new financial systems like the metaverse on auditing practices.

Abstract

In today's digital era, Augmented Reality (AR) technology is increasingly gaining attention as an innovative tool in marketing and consumer experience. AR offers interactive experiences that combine virtual elements with the real world, giving consumers new ways to interact with goods and brands. This study aims to determine how the use of augmented reality (AR) technology impacts consumer engagement and brand loyalty. Specifically, this research wants to know how interactive experiences with AR affect consumers' level of engagement with a brand and how much that engagement contributes to the formation of brand loyalty. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach and was designed as a survey. AR apps from various brands deploy questionnaires to collect data. The goal of this questionnaire is to measure consumer engagement, user experience with AR, and brand loyalty.  Studies show that the use of augmented reality (AR) significantly increases consumer engagement with brands. Consumers say that interactive and immersive AR experiences make them more interested in the goods and brands. The study found that augmented reality (AR) technology increases consumer engagement and brand loyalty.
