The purpose of this activity is to increase community knowledge about hypertension prevention through health literacy in Modayag Village community. The devotion method used is the pre-post test method through administering questionnaires about knowledge of hypertension prevention through health literacy. Respondents in this activity were 31 people from Modayag Village. The results of this service activity increased knowledge about health literacy towards the prevention of hypertension. Abstract

Hypertension in adults aged 45-55 years has a significant impact on heart health and morbidity. Hypertension is estimated to affect 1.56 billion people by 2025 and become a leading cause of death. In Indonesia, the prevalence is 18.7% in the 45-54 age group, with North Sulawesi ranking third highest. In Kotamobagu, hypertension ranks second among non-communicable diseases with 24,956 cases. This high number emphasizes the importance of prevention and control. A deep understanding of modifiable risk factors is needed to develop effective prevention strategies. This study aims to identify the primary risk factors that influence the prevalence of hypertension in the adult population of Kotamobagu City. This descriptive-quantitative study used an analytical observational study design with a cross-sectional technique. The study was conducted in Kotamobagu City, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, from July to August 2024. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional method, data collection using a digital sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure, an Easy Touch GCU Meter to analyze dyslipidemia and blood sugar levels, and a questionnaire to assess physical activity, diet, salt consumption, alcohol consumption, and smoking habits. The sample consisted of 388 hypertensive patients selected using the Slovin Formula, and the statistical analysis used was chi-square. The results showed that diet, dyslipidemia, obesity, high salt consumption, alcohol, and smoking were significantly correlated with hypertension. Based on the odds ratio, the factors that had the strongest relationship with the incidence of hypertension were poor diet (OR = 1.53), dyslipidemia (OR = 1.49), and excessive salt consumption (OR = 1.46).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between the implementation of the “healthy living community movement” (GERMAS) policy and compliance with a low-salt diet among hypertensive patients. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted at Ratahan Primary Health Center among hypertensive patients who participated in the GERMAS program. Data were selected through proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression to determine the relationship between program implementation components, program socialization, community participation, and health facility support, and adherence to a low-salt diet. The analysis revealed that program socialization (OR=2.34, p=0.005, CI: 1.29–4.18), and has the most significant relationship of the other variables; community participation (OR=1.95, p=0.021, CI: 1.11–3.35), and health facility support (OR=2.07, p=0.017, CI: 1.14–3.68) were significantly associated with adherence to a low-salt diet. Implementation of GERMAS through effective program socialization, active community involvement, and adequate health facility support significantly increases adherence to a low-salt diet among hypertensive patients. Strengthening intersectoral collaboration and continuous community empowerment is crucial to sustaining GERMAS outcomes in hypertension prevention and control.

Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and progressive β-cell dysfunction, leading to long-term complications that negatively affect patients’ quality of life (QoL). Various demographic, psychological, and clinical factors influence QoL. However, limited research has explored these associations within the sociocultural context of a rural regency in Indonesia, where variations in healthcare access, education, and economic conditions may uniquely affect QoL. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationships between clinical and demographic factors and QoL among patients with T2DM. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2024 to February 2025 with 1,030 adult T2DM patients recruited via purposive sampling. QoL was assessed using the Diabetes Quality of Life Scale (DQOL), and anxiety was measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Additional data on employment status, disease duration, age, and therapy type were collected via structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS 27 with univariate, bivariate (chi-square), and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: Descriptively, most participants were female (90.8%), aged 51–60 years (59.7%), and had completed senior high school (84%). Overall, 61.2% reported good QoL. Anxiety was mild in 73.3% and moderate in 26.7% of participants. Multivariate logistic regression indicated that moderate anxiety (OR = 2.78; 95% CI [1.48–5.25], p = 0.041), disease duration ≥5 years (OR = 10.24; 95% CI [2.13–12.40], p = 0.027), older age (≥50 years) (OR = 8.94; 95% CI [2.15–14.73], p = 0.032), unemployment (OR = 3.66; 95% CI [1.03–13.07], p = 0.030), and insulin therapy (OR = 11.3; 95% CI [2.80–12.60], p = 0.019) were significantly associated with poor QoL. The model showed good fit (Hosmer–Lemeshow χ² = 5.32, p = 0.72) and moderate explanatory power (Nagelkerke R² = 0.24). Conclusion: Longer disease duration, older age (≥50 years), unemployment, moderate anxiety, and insulin therapy were significantly associated with lower QoL among T2DM patients. These findings emphasize the need for integrated care strategies combining educational, psychosocial, and socioeconomic interventions. Nursing practice should prioritize holistic, patient-centered approaches incorporating psychological support, individualized education, and social empowerment.

Abstract

Malnutrition in the under-five years can result in failure to thrive due to chronic malnutrition, as well as impaired cognitive development that impacts learning ability and future productivity. Families play an important role in the nutritional needs of children under five. The approach taken is through improving family-based public health programs. The proposed solutions include an approach to improving family health education in the context of fulfilling toddler nutrition, monitoring and mentoring toddlers, and building partnerships with cross-sector support. The findings on the results of this activity are an increase in family knowledge and awareness about the importance of fulfilling balanced nutrition in toddlers as seen in the pre and post results conducted by the PKM team which provides an assessment through observations and assistance about knowledge and awareness of the importance of fulfilling balanced nutrition. Family involvement in monitoring the growth and development of toddlers through posyandu activities and family-based health programs has increased, which is clearly seen from visits to the posyandu. Recommendations for the government, in this case the West Amurang Health Center, to be more active in carrying out assistance activities for parents related to the fulfillment of toddler nutrition. It is necessary to develop family-based public health programs to improve the nutritional status of toddlers in the West Amurang Health Center Working Area
