The subjects of the study were social class elevnth graders at SMAN 15 Kota Bandung, Indonesia which is the experimental site as well. On class (social class 2) was selected to an experimental group and the other class (social class 4) served as a control group. The instrument used is a multiple choice test. The analytical technique used is Kolalogov-Smirnov. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the development of GIS-based geography learning media can be developed as a geography learning media by designing an easy and simple application interface to be used by teachers and students as well as databases that are in accordance with the curriculum. GIS-based learning media developed showed significant influence on learning achievement of learners. The experimental class performed higher learning achievement than the control class.

Abstract

This research attempts to highlight the symbiotic relationship between the conservation of geopark natural resources and the competitiveness of ecotourism destinations. While the intrinsic environmental reasons for land protection are losing their appeal due to environmental damage. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative analysis techniques. The results of this study explain that ecotourism can provide greater benefits for the quality of natural resources in an area than considering the use of natural resources based on other factors such as local economic conditions. Through ecotourism visiting sensitive areas such as geoparks, local communities can be provided with additional economic incentives to protect their natural resources that might not exist in the absence of tourism.

Abstract

The Palabuhanratu Bay area is a tourist-intensive area and the administrative center of Sukabumi Regency, so it has a very high threat of earthquake and tsunami disasters. This disaster risk assessment will form the basis of disaster management management. This research method uses a qualitative research approach with data analysis methods used are risk analysis in the form of hazard analysis, vulnerability and capacity analysis. In this study, it was found that there were 10 affected villages including Cibuntu, Cidadap, Cikakak, Citarik, Citepus, Jayanti, Palabuhanratu, Loji, Sangrawayang, and Tonjong. The tsunami risk in the affected area is classified as medium and high, meaning that the vulnerability in the 10 villages has not been efficiently balanced with regional capacity.

Abstract

Langsa City is a city on the east coast of Aceh that has the fastest growth compared to the surrounding area. However, this has a significant impact on land conversion which reduces environmental quality. Analysis of changes in land use in Langsa City needs to be carried out as a basis for determining development policies. This study aims to analyze changes in land use in Langsa City from 2013 – 2021. The data used in this study are Landsat 8 OLI-TIRS imagery in 2013, 2017, and 2021. These images were analyzed using a supervised classification technique based on band combinations for each land use. The classified land uses are settlements, paddy fields, ponds, mangrove forests, and mixed vegetation. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the settlement area in the center of Langsa City. Meanwhile, other land uses have changed but not consistently. This study concludes that a significant increase in settlement area is due to rapid population growth. The increase in settlement area also has an impact on changes in other types of land use. The researcher recommends that a population growth study be carried out as a basis for determining regional spatial planning.

Abstract

The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have seventeen global goals for the sustainability of human life on planet Earth. One of these goals is to ensure access to water and sanitation for all. This article aims to formulate a grand design of Geography learning as part of social studies taught in the school. The context of the research is the east coast of Aceh Province. The research method used in this paper is a systematic literature review through books, scientific journals, and reports from several community-based water development programs. The grand design is formulated within ten years with three phases, namely (1) Acceleration; (2) Evaluation, and (3) Sustainable Education. The results of this literature review are expected to contribute to the management of water resources in the coastal area of East Aceh while at the same time increasing the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar (Independence Learning) policy at every level of education that is oriented toward local natural resources.
