Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of inclusive schools through Structural Functional Theory in senior high schools in Surakarta City. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research focuses on two inclusive schools, SMAN 8 Surakarta and SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta, as its subjects. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving school principals, teachers, and educational staff as key informants, and the collected data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which encompasses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.. The findings reveal that the two schools employ distinct strategies: SMAN 8 Surakarta prioritizes structured policies, regular teacher training, and facility development, whereas SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta adopts a community-centered approach by engaging parents and the local community, despite facing infrastructural limitations. By applying the AGIL framework (Adaptation, Goal, Integration, and Latency), this study highlights fundamental challenges, including inadequate teacher training, restricted resources, and the absence of formal policies. Consequently, the study suggests enhancing governmental support, fostering stronger partnerships between schools and communities, and ensuring continuous professional development for teachers to create a more effective and sustainable inclusive education system.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to examine the strategic role of teachers in determining meaningful and contextual Sociology subject matter in the Solo Raya and Central Java regions. Research data was obtained through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of learning planning and implementation documents. The research population is all active Sociology teachers who are members of the Sociology Teacher Conference (MGMP) of Greater Solo and Central Java, while the sample includes 13 teachers from four public and private high schools in Surakarta City, Sukoharjo Regency, Sragen Regency, and one aliyah madrasah in Surakarta. Data collection techniques include passive observation of the learning process from March 4-28, 2025, in-depth interviews with teachers, MGMP heads, and two students from each school, and document collection in the form of lesson plans, teaching modules, syllabi, and other teaching materials. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawn, and continuous verification. The results of the study showed that teachers applied three main strategies in the selection of essential materials, namely the relationship with students' social lives, continuity between materials, and strengthening literacy and numeracy. These findings confirm that teachers' autonomy and pedagogical capacity greatly determine the success of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in meaningful Sociology learning, so systemic support, continuous training, and collaboration between teachers through MGMP are needed.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the educational landscape around the world, forcing schools and educational institutions to shift from offline to online and back again. This research explores the strategies implemented by smart education tutoring in an effort to increase student learning motivation after the pandemic using a qualitative descriptive approach with case study research. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total of 7 informants consisting of owners and tutors of Smart Education tutoring. The strategies discussed include using technology-based learning media, building pleasant relationships with students, providing encouragement, providing rewards in the form of prizes, grades and praise, and strengthening collaboration with students' parents. The research results show that these strategies have been successful in increasing students' learning motivation which has decreased. This research uses structural functional theory by Talcott Parsons with the four functions of AGIL, namely adaptation, goal achievement, integration, and pattern maintenance, to analyze the role of tutoring in responding to changes in the education system. The results underline the important role of tutoring in helping students overcome learning difficulties and maintaining their motivation in learning. This research provides valuable insights for tutoring and other educational institutions seeking to address post-pandemic educational challenges.

Abstract

One of the educational transformations in the current era is emphasized on the formation of student character. Internalization of character in students can be formed through the P5 program. The P5 program is an initiative designed to integrate Pancasila values into project-based student character education. In character development, character formation habits are needed which include habitus, capital, arena, and practice. The aims of this research is to examine the habituation of student character formation through the P5 program theme in educational units. Qualitative method with a case study-based approach is used in this research. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, observations, and document analysis. This study was conducted at three school levels with the aim of comparing the implementation patterns of character formation in the P5 program on students at SD Negeri Joglo No. 76 Surakarta, SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta, and SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. The Miles, Huberman, and Saldana models, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions is used to analyse data. The data findings in this study indicate differences in the implementation process of the P5 program at three levels of schools in Surakarta City and that habituation is needed in internalizing the six dimensions of the Pancasila student profile based on the P5 project.
