Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a crucial foundation for children’s social and emotional development, which is strongly influenced by parenting practices, particularly those of mothers. However, the increasing number of working mothers presents challenges that may affect children’s developmental outcomes. This study aims to analyze the parenting patterns of working mothers and identify the inhibiting factors that influence the social-emotional development of young children at PAUD Mutiara Hati. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The primary informants consisted of five working mothers selected through purposive sampling, supported by five teachers as secondary informants. Data were collected through in depth interviews and naturalistic observations. The findings indicate that the dominant parenting style applied by working mothers is the authoritative or democratic style, characterized by warmth, two  way communication, and consistent guidance despite limited time. Some mothers also adopted situational approaches, such as authoritarian or responsive parenting, depending on the child’s condition. Furthermore, several inhibiting factors were identified, including limited time availability, physical and emotional fatigue, job demands, lack of social support, and economic pressures. In conclusion, working mothers can still provide effective parenting as long as they receive adequate environmental support, maintain work flexibility, and sustain consistent interactions with their children

Abstract

The digital era presents new challenges in parenting early childhood. Children are easily exposed to digital content that is not always appropriate, making the role of parents crucial in shaping positive behavior. This study aims to describe parental efforts in fostering positive behavior in early childhood during the digital era. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects were parents of students at RA Assyukron. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The results show that parents engage in active supervision, monitor media content, model good behavior, and instill moral values from an early age. The main challenges encountered include the uncontrollable influence of digital media and inconsistency in parenting within extended families. In conclusion, parenting in the digital era requires adaptive and reflective strategies to ensure that children grow up with strong and consistent positive behavior

Abstract

Gross motor development is an important aspect of early childhood education because it plays a role in supporting children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional readiness. However, in practice, gross motor stimulation in PAUD institutions is still not optimal and tends to be dominated by passive activities. This study aims to describe the implementation of the snakes and ladders floor game in developing gross motor skills of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Nurul Ihsan. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects were 13 children in group B consisting of 5 boys and 8 girls, and two class teachers as key informants. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of the snakes and ladders floor game was able to improve children's gross motor skills, especially in aspects of balance, motor coordination, large muscle strength, agility, body control, courage to move, and physical endurance. Children also showed increased self-confidence and social skills, such as waiting their turn and following the rules of the game. It can be concluded that the snakes and ladders floor game is an effective, fun learning medium, and in accordance with the principles of learning through play in PAUD. This game has the potential to be a holistic learning approach in optimizing the gross motor development of early childhood.

Abstract

Social-emotional development is a fundamental aspect of early childhood education, as it shapes children's ability to regulate emotions, interact socially, and develop empathy and responsibility. This study aimed to describe the social-emotional development of Group B children and analyze the role of teachers in supporting their social-emotional development at RA Al Fath. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with classroom and assistant teachers, classroom observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that children's social-emotional development falls into three categories: Beginning to Develop, Developing as Expected, and Developing Very Well, with differences in emotional regulation, turn-taking, cooperation, and compliance with classroom rules. The study also found that teachers play significant roles as educators, supervisors, managers, innovators, and motivators by providing positive role models, creating supportive classroom environments, resolving conflicts constructively, implementing play-based learning, and reinforcing positive behavior. The findings imply that strengthening teachers' competencies in social-emotional learning and fostering sustainable collaboration between schools and parents should become integral components of early childhood education programs to promote optimal social-emotional development among young children
