Abstract

Housing and settlements developed very strong in suburban. Suburban developments also occured along Tun Abdul Razak street, currently there were 8 housing clusters built along Tun Abdul Razak street, one of them was Bumi Aroepala Housing. When rain falls, there were inundations at several points in this housing. This study aims to identified the development process of Bumi Aeropala Housing from 2008 to 2018, identified conditions of road and drainage networks integration in Bumi Aroepala Housing, and formulated direction for road and drainage network integration in Bumi Aroepala Housing. Spatial analysis wasused to determined the development of housing, quantitative qualitative analysis was used to identified the quantity and quality of road and drainage network integration in Bumi Aroepala Housing, and comparative analysis was used to compared the problems and directives that should be done. The results showed that the development of Bumi Aroepala Housing land area from 2008-2018 increased 91% or 95,256 m², while the number of buildings increased 98% or 527 units. In this housing there were no pedestrian way on the main residential road. There were several damaged roads and there were 3 roads that should be connected. Besides that there were no drainage network at 3 points in this housing and there were some drainage that not in the good conditions. Directions for this study were road repairs and the making of pedestrian way on the main residential roads, adding drainage networks at the location points that didin’tt have drainage and implemented the concept of sustainable drainage. There were 3 sustainable drainage concepts that can be implemented in this housing, they were rain garden, infiltration strip, and permeable surface.

Abstract

Factor of Community preference to stay in Sub district Somba Opu caused the high demand for settlement land, it triggered the occurrence of land conversion. This research aim to: 1) identify the coversion of agriculrural land into developing area in past 10 years (2008-2018); 2) identify community preference factors for living in Somba Opu District; and 3) arranging the direction of development in Somba Opu District in preventing land conversion. The primary data is obtained by using Landsat 7 ETM maps and secondary data obtained from interviews of people living in the research location. Spatial analysis was used to determine changes in spatial function change using arcgis applications, multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the most dominant factors in the occurrence of land conversion, and comparative analysis was used to compare problems and directives that should be done. The results showed that in the last 10 years (2008-2018) the conversion of agricultural land into development area in Somba Opu Disctrict initially in 2008 has broadly 15.29 Km2 reduced to 12,48 Km2 in 2018. In addition, In addition, the result is the most influential factor is the location of the land of Somba Opu District which is directly adjacent to the city of Makassar and is located on side of the road connecting Gowa Regency and Makassar City. So to control preference factor wich caused the high demand for settelemant land is the review of the RTRW and the completion of the Gowa Regency RDTR, the implementation of zoning, and the provision of incentives and disincentives must be done.

Abstract

The development of settlements in urban areas is inseparable from the rapid rate of growth of urban population. Maradekaya Kelurahan is one of 143 urban villages in Makassar City which is part of the slum area with a moderate category. (SK Slum Mayor of Makassar City, 2015). Water Sensitive Urban Design is a land planning concept and engineering approach that integrates urban water cycles, including rainwater, groundwater and wastewater and clean water management into urban designs to minimize environmental damage and increase aesthetic and recreational appeal. This concept is considered capable of being one of the solutions in handling slums in Maradekaya Kelurahan by utilizing appropriate measures against existing components. The purpose of this study is to identify opportunities for the application of the concept of Water Sensitive Urban Design in the study area and produce concept directions as an evaluation of slums. The method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods of existing WSUD components in Maradekaya Kelurahan. Based on the results of the study, found a variety of conditions varying from the two components of the Water Sensitive Urban Design starting from the conditions, extent, characteristics, potential, problems and availability of a variety of each component, this is used as an introduction to the analysis based on the characteristics of the components owned, policies and guidelines used the researcher. This research resulted in the direction of the concept of applying Water Sensitive Urban Design based on two components in Maradekaya Village to reduce the growth of slums in Makassar City.

The results showed that, (1) the number of buildings in the study site were 949 units, consisting of 518 permanent buildings, 220 semi-permanent buildings, and 211 semi-permanent buildings. The condition of facilities and infrastructure is inadequate, especially clean water and solid waste systems. (2) the level of public education is still low where 34.44% of respondents only graduated from elementary school, while community work is dominated in the service sector as much as 45.56% and laborers as much as 26.67%. Abstract

The annual increase in population in Parepare City has an impact on increasing the need for residential land, while there is limited land in the city center which causes the need for land to be directed to suburban areas which are in hill and mountainous areas. This study aimed to determine the land suitability for the development of residential areas in the Parepare highlands zone. The primary data was collected through filed observation, questionnaires and interviews, while the secondary data was gained from literature studies, visit to relevant local agencies, map interpretation and digitization. The analysis used descriptive qualitative, scalogram, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), scoring, and spatial analysis. This research was conducted from January to June 2022. The results showed that most of the existing residential areas that are supported by facilities are located in Bacukiki District where land suitability can be divided into three categories, i.e., high, moderate and poor. Based on the analysis, this paper suggested that the area that are highly suitable can be developed as residential area as well as the moderate however the latter must be preconditioned in order to meet minimum qualification, meanwhile the rest of the area that area poorly potential may be preserved as a conservation area instead of residential function.

Abstract

Floods are caused by several things, such as the lack of water catchment areas or the presence of obstacles in drainage so that they are no longer able to accommodate rainwater capacity. Berua Village is one of the areas in Makassar City that often experiences flooding when the rainy season arrives, this is due to the rapid development of settlements, causing a lack of water catchment areas. This study aims to identify flood and inundation conditions based on the factors that cause flooding, identify surface water flows and drainage channels, and formulate flood and inundation disaster mitigation directives in settlements in the Berua Village. This research lasted for 5 months, starting from February to June 2021. This research used spatial, hydrological and descriptive analysis. Based on the results of this study, it is known that the surface runoff discharge is equal to 38.81 m3/second and there are 25 drainage channels that exceed the capacity. , making infiltration wells, and using the concept of rainwater harvesting, and non-structural mitigation, namely in the form of classifying disaster-prone groups and determining evacuation points.

Abstract

The development of a city cannot be separated from the population that always increases every year. With the increase in population growth in a city, the problems that arise will also increase, such as a fire disaster caused by human negligence itself. This study aims to (1) identify the characteristics of settlements and residents against the risk of fire disasters located in Banta-Bantaeng village; (2) identify the availability of facilities and infrastructure to support firefighter activities in residents located in Banta-Bantaeng village; and (3) explaining direction on preventing fire hazards in residential areas. This research located in RW 001, 004, and 005, Banta-Bantaeng Village, Makassar City. The analytical technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis, comparative analysis, and spatial analysis. The results obtained are; (1) the characteristics of the settlements, indicates locations that are prone to fire; (2) the availability of infrastructure is still very less than they can hinder the extinguishing process; and (3) the right direction for preventing fire hazards to overcome fire disasters is by means of active protection, passive protection, and fire safety management.
