Abstract

Kitab Pembebasan is Eko Prasetyo’s first work in the field of interpretation contains the stories of prophets and friends in the Qur'an. For him, the stories of the prophets no longer have the power to change circumstances, then progressive logic brings Eko to an interpretation of the stories of the prophet to the surrounding social problems. When many commentators who interpret the Quran relate to the social community, then interpreting the Quran leads to social criticism being unique to discuss. So this paper is focused on discussing social criticism in the Book of Liberation. In this paper, there are indications of the content of social criticism Eko Prasetyo then grouped them into five fields, namely economics, religion, education, politics and society. Then explained based on the theme specifically. Then develop social criticism based on each theme. Among them is a criticism of the economic system of capitalism, interpretation of the meaning of Satan, tyranny, seditious and idolatrous, religious and financiers, criticism of Suharto and the New Order, the case of the murderous activist Salim deer. Also, Eko's other works were reviewed to develop his criticisms. The interpretation for Eko through the Book of Liberation is the contextualization of the problems that occur around him, Eko does not care about the interpretation of the interpretation, because for Eko, the Qur'an is a book of movements that must be practiced.Keyword: Eko Prasetyo, Progressive Interpretations, Qissah, al-Qur’an

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the role of religion in shaping social identity through Hadith learning in the violations of Malang Regency, East Java. This study analyses how the teaching of Hadith in these places of worship affects individuals' perceptions of themselves and their communities. The research methodology involves in-depth interviews with teachers and pilgrims and content analysis of the learning materials used. The results of this study revealed that the practice of Hadith learning in Malang Regency has a significant role in shaping individual social identity. This manifests itself in the influence of religion on social norms, values, and community solidarity. The research also highlights the critical role of teachers in conveying religious messages and how these messages influence individual understanding and identity. This research provides in-depth insights into the complexity of the relationship between religion and social identity in the context of local communities. These findings may contribute to a better understanding of the role of religion in shaping social identity and guide learning efforts, as well as a better understanding of religion in diverse societies. Abstract

The debate about the meaning of the term ahl al-sunnah wa al-jamā'ah in the iftirāq al-ummah hadith has not stopped until now. Each group has different views and claims to each other as the most deserving of that status. Al-Barbahari (d. 329 H), one of the figures of the Hanbali school of thought, tried to revive this understanding, but then tried to revive it haphazardly by modern Salafi-Wahhabi groups in order to legitimize the takfiri movement and anti-heresy sentiments. This article explains the views of al-Barbahari in the book Syarḥ al-Sunnah with several basic questions; first, what is al-Barbahari's view in interpreting ahl al-sunnah wa al-jamā'ah?, and second, what is the approach of manhaj wasaṭiyyah al-Azhar in explaining the same term? To analyze this problem, the writer uses descriptive-analytical method through the approach of manhaj al-Azhar al-Syarif and found the fact that Al-Barbahari has the characteristics of thinking that tend to be textual and pragmatic. Thus, there are many discrepancies in the discourse of aqidah, the use of reason in understanding the texts, and the methods of criticism and syarah of hadith are not appropriate.

Abstract

Gender injustice that seems to be legitimized by normative texts is seriously challenged by problems of interpretation. This research is a library research and qualitative. The author focuses on Femicide in the Perspective of the Qur'an: A Critical Hermeneutic Analysis and its Relevance to Islamic Religious Education. Femicide is a criminal act of sadistic murder based on hatred of women committed by men. In the Qur'anic perspective, it is substantially described in four verses, namely QS. al-An'am 6: 137, QS. At-Takwir 81: 8, QS. An-Nahl 16: 59 and QS. This is a historical fact as documented in several Prophetic traditions. Femicide behavior in pre-Islamic times should be reinterpreted according to the times. The word can be understood to mean sadistic behavior such as being mutilated, abused, burned, crushed, and so on. Femicide is relevant to discuss because PAI plays an important role in shaping human values and attitudes. PAI has the potential to be an effective tool in instilling aspects of humanity, justice, and respect for human rights, including women's rights.

Abstract

Recently, Israel has become a major topic of public discussion due to the renewed conflict with Palestine that has been ongoing for approximately 76 years. The Qur'an, as the holy book of Islam, mentions the words "Jews" and "Israel" in numerous verses and chapters. As one of the many subjects addressed in the Qur'an, the terms "Jews" and "Israel" form an inseparable unity, even though they have distinct and different meanings. In this paper, Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar serves as the primary reference for examining the terms "Jews" and "Israel" in the Qur'an. In line with Tafsir Al-Azhar as the reference, this paper specifically aims to answer three questions: (1) What are the differences between the terms "Jews" and "Israel" in Tafsir Al-Azhar? (2) How does Hamka describe the characteristics of the verses regarding Jews and Israel in Tafsir Al-Azhar? (3) How do the terms "Jews" and "Israel" in Tafsir Al-Azhar relate to recent phenomena? This research is a library study, employing thematic methods. The primary data source is Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar, while secondary sources include books, journals, videos, and discourses related to the topic. The research concludes that the term "Jews" is mentioned nine times in the Qur'an. The characteristics of the Jews in Tafsir Al-Azhar include claiming to be the children and beloved of Allah, lying about Allah, believing they are the most righteous, altering the scriptures, demeaning other nations, and hating Muslims. "Israel" is mentioned 42 times in the Qur'an. The characteristics of Israel in Tafsir Al-Azhar include being granted many blessings by Allah, the covenant between Israel and Allah, Israel with the prophets, Israel and Pharaoh, and the traits and behaviors of Israel within society.

Abstract

Islamic scholars have endeavored to address the spread of unauthentic traditions transmitted by unreliable narrators. The science of al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl plays an important role in the study of hadith criticism as it helps determine whether the narrators are trustworthy or have a bad track record. In this context, Sunan Ibn Mājah has several narrators who have very bad reputations, and some of them are even known to have lied or fabricated traditions. This study investigates these narrators using the al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl approach. The sources of data are books on biographical dictionaries of narrators, books on fabricated traditions, and books on hadith commentaries. The study identified thirty-one narrators who were accused of lying in the name of the Prophet. Among these narrators was Ibn Mājah’s direct teacher, ‘Abd al-Wahāb b. al-Ḍaḥāk (245/859), from whom Ibn Mājah narrated six traditions. Meanwhile, the narrator with the most narrations is Jābir b. Yazīd al-Ju'fī (128/750), who has sixteen narrations. Therefore, it is important to be cautious in looking at the traditions in Sunan Ibn Mājah because some of the narrators are liars. Researchers should continue to apply al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl to maintain integrity and ensure that Muslims are protected from misleading traditions.

Abstract

The Hadith, as Islamic teachings, gave rise to a multitude of social interactions and understandings. The epistemology of the hadith has been established by hadith scholars, and the ulama of today are enhancing them with several kinds of innovative techniques that may be used to comprehend and apply them. However, in the contemporary era, these various methods continue to provide textual interpretation and a limited comprehension of hadith. This is analogous to realizing that women are not allowed to travel without a mahram. When the hadith is interpreted following the social context of the society, it will be fully understood and serve its intended purpose. To fully comprehend this article, we must have a contextual knowledge of hadith that incorporates several kinds of scientific disciplines. The context of Muhammad's prophetic message or other traditions should be taken into consideration while interpreting hadiths. The hadith will be able to bring out the principles of Islam itself, salihun likulli zaman wa makan, by thorough research and by referencing other scholarly works.

Abstract

Al-Qur’an serta penafsirannya yang relevan dan kontekstual menjadi kebutuhan mendesak dalam menghadapi tantangan modernitas. Salah satu karya tafsir yang menonjol di Indonesia adalah tafsir al-Mishbah karya Quraish Shihab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis relevansi dan kontekstualisasi yang ditawarkan tafsir ini bagi masyarakat modern Indonesia. Metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan library research akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yang melibatkan analisis mendalam terhadap tafsir al-Mishbah dan relevansinya terhadap isu-isu kontemporer, seperti perhatian terhadap isu lingkungan, keadilan gender, dan juga antisipasi terhadap berita hoax. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Quraish Shihab mampu menghadirkan penafsiran yang sesuai dengan konteks masyarakat Indonesia, penekanan pada nilai-nilai universal al-Qur’an seperti mengedepankan nilai-nilai toleransi dan moderasi, serta konteks ke-Indonesiaan yang tercermin pada musyawarah dan mufakat, serta kekayaan tradisi dan budaya lokal yang dapat dilihat dari konsep pakaian serta gotong royong dan saling memberi yang sudah menjadi kebiasaan masyarakat Indonesia. Melalui pendekatan yang moderat, inklusif, dan dialogis menjadikan tafsir al-Mishbah sebagai rujukan penting bagi masyarakat Muslim modern yang ingin memahami al-Qur’an dalam konteks kekinian. Selain itu penyertaan contoh-contoh konkret dalam kehidupan sehari-hari memperkuat daya tarik dan relevansinya.

Abstract

Abstrak Kajian living hadis tradisi Malapeh Kawua Padi di Kenagarian Aia Manggih berlandaskan metode kualitatif berdasar teori gagasan Alfred Schutz dalam konsep in order to motif (tujuan) serta becauce of motiv (sebab) sebagai obor Fenomenologi tradisi malapeh kawua padi masyarakat Aia manggih pada masa bercocok tanam dimulai. Praktek tradisi malapeh kawua padi berangkat dari adanya nilai sunnah yang hidup dan menyatu dalam ruang tradisi. Hadis nabi terkait niat/nazar rujukan teologis riwayat Imam Ad-Daruqutni nomor 4273 menjadi landasan utama hadirnya tradisi Malapeh Kawua padi di tengah peradaban masyarakat Aia manggih. Tradisi Malapeh Kawua padi menawarkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan agama yang terus dilestarikan masyarakat hingga era Dewasa ini bersamaan dengan peran setiap elemen masyarakat. Pengaplikasian tradisi malapeh kawua padi menempatkan motiv tersendiri sebagai kursus pelestarian tradisi luhur, penyelarasan visi yang sama, pengaruh kondisi wilayah, serta membudayakan tradisi keagamaan sekaligus momentum dalam mendekatkan diri kepada Allah swt.   Kata Kunci: Living Hadis, Tradisi, Malapeh Kawua Padi, fenomenologi, Kenagarian Aia manggih   Abstract The study of the living hadith of the Malapeh Kawua Padi tradition in Kenagarian Aia Manggih is based on a qualitative method based on Alfred Schutz's theory in the concept of in order to motif and the cause of motivation as a torch. The practice of the Malapeh Kawua Padi tradition departs from the existence of sunnah values that live and are integrated in the tradition space. The prophet's hadith related to the theological reference intention/voice of Imam Ad-Daruqutni's history number 4273 became the main basis for the presence of the Malapeh Kawua padi tradition in the midst of the civilization of the Aia Manggih people. The Malapeh Kawua Padi tradition offers life and religious values that the community continues to preserve until today's era along with the role of every element of society. The application of the Malapeh Kawua Padi tradition places its own motivation as a course in preserving noble traditions, aligning the same vision, influencing regional conditions, as well as civilizing religious traditions as well as momentum in getting closer to Allah swt.   Keywords: living hadith, tradition, Malapeh Kawua Padi, phenomenologi, Kenagarian Aia Manggih
