This study aims to examine hadith as a source of Islamic law, its role and significance. This study uses a library research type. The data analysis technique used in this study is the content analysis method, which is a technique used to identify each word, sentence in a text or series of texts, concepts, or themes. Researchers use data sources from books and analyze components related to the formulation of the problem. The results of this study explain that hadith is everything that comes from the Prophet Muhammad, both the words, actions, or approvals of the Prophet Muhammad, which are prescribed to humans. Hadith also has an important role as the second source of law and a guide to life for Muslims, after the Qur'an. Not only that, some important aspects of hadith in the lives of Muslims include providing explanations and details of the Qur'an, as a guide to morals and ethics, can strengthen a person's faith, and can build social harmony. Therefore, understanding hadith is very important for Muslims to build a life that is in harmony with Islamic teachings and create a harmonious and civilized society.

Abstract

This study examines the Islamic’s phenomenon acculturation and local beliefs among the Banjar people. Although Islam entered through political channels and was accepted collectively, the animistic and dynamic traditions of their ancestors remain strong. This situation prompted scholars of the past to Islamize these traditions, especially those influenced by Hinduism-Buddhism. The objective of this research’s to analyze the background, methodology, and systematic writing of the Sanjata Mukmin tafsir book by Husin Qudri. This study is a literature review with sociology as the main approach in the data presentation process. After reviewing the existing literature, this research identified two main findings. First, this book was written as Husin Qudri's effort to Islamize the conservative views of the Banjar community, who still believe in the power of spirits and objects as sources of salvation. Second, the book is divided into 72 interconnected discussions, using the bil-ma'tsur method of interpretation. It’s evident in Husin Qudri's frequent quotations of the Prophet's hadiths that are relevant to the talks he presents. Finally, this research is essential because, in addition to enriching the intellectual heritage of Islamic interpretation, it also provides insights into Nusantara interpretation books that are rarely exposed to the general public.

Abstract

This study analyzes the model of interaction between Islam and science in the Tafsir Ilmi by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia through Agus Purwanto's typological framework, which categorizes the relationship into the Islamization of Science, the Scientification of Islam, and Islamic Science. Using a literature study method with a descriptive-analytical approach, the results of the study indicate that the Tafsir Ilmi by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia predominantly applies the model of Islamic Scientification, in which the verses of the Qur'an are positioned as a priori truths that are then verified using modern scientific facts. This finding is concretely identified through the explanation of physiological phenomena in the story of the Companions of the Cave and the role of soil elements in human creation, which are correlated with biochemical data to legitimize the narrative of the sacred text. Although this approach successfully proves the relevance of the Qur'an to the development of science, its apologetic-defensive nature and focus on compatibility are considered less productive for the development of an independent scientific paradigm because science only functions as an instrument supporting the truth of revelation. Consequently, this study recommends the need for further comparative and ethnographic studies to comprehensively understand the integration of religious authority and science in state-sponsored tafsir.

Abstract

A work of Qur’anic exegesis cannot be separated from the cultural locality surrounding it. Kiai Haji (KH.) Ahmad Yasin Asymuni is one of the Nusantara’s mufasir whose work is Tafsir Petuk Semen, Kediri. Until now, no research has specifically examined the local aspects of this Qur’anic exegesis, especially through the approach of modern hermeneutic theory. This study aims to identify aspects of locality in the Nusantara context contained in the Tafsir Petuk Semen, Kediri. This study uses a qualitative method (literature study) and analysis using Gadamer's hermeneutic horizon theory and the theory of living Qur'an reception. The results show that the Tafsir Petuk Semen, Kediri, has four local aspects. First, the interpretation is equipped with a Javanese translation. Second, the use of the method of grammatical translation of meanings is typical of Islamic boarding schools. Third, the use of Jawi script (Arabic Pegon) in the translation. Fourth, the many mujarobat practices with extraordinary efficacy from the interpreted verses. These findings contribute to the study of Qur’anic exegesis globally by showing how local Javanese Islamic traditions integrate language, script, pesantren methodology, and spiritual practices in Qur’anic exegesis, thereby enriching the discourse on knowledge transmission and epistemological plurality.
