Abstract

The advancement of educational technology has driven innovation in the delivery of learning materials, including the development of biology e-modules at the high school level. This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to identify research trends, key topics, keywords, and collaboration patterns related to high school biology e-modules, as well as to map research gaps and future development directions. Articles were selected using the PRISMA method, followed by bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer, which revealed five main clusters: development of instructional materials based on PBL and HOTS, technology integration (AR, VR, Smart Apps, QR Codes), quality validation based on R&D, innovative learning models (PjBL, POGIL), and impact evaluation on student engagement and knowledge retention. The findings indicate that high school biology e-modules are not merely digital materials, but rather a multidisciplinary solution that integrates innovative pedagogy, technology, and contextualized content, including local wisdom such as the Baduy tribe's culture and environmental studies. Collaboration among biologists, educational technologists, and practitioners is essential to address implementation challenges and strengthen education quality. This study recommends the need for continuous development based on longitudinal research and inclusive implementation to ensure long-term impact in supporting education.

Abstract

Abstract

Sea turtles are protected animals that are threatened with extinction due to natural and anthropogenic factors such as coastal erosion and illegal trade. This study aims to analyze the genetic diversity of sea turtles in Buleleng using mitochondrial DNA from unhatched egg samples. Samples were collected from two nests at several breeding sites to determine genetic variation within a single conservation area. Molecular analysis was conducted on the control region locus with a sequence length of 869 bp. The results of the identification showed that the samples originated from three species: green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), olive ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea), and hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata), with sequence similarities of 99.44%–99.77%. The phylogenetic tree formed four clades with bootstrap values of 79–100%, supporting the classification and kinship relationships between species. Low intraspecific genetic distance (0–0.2%) and interspecific genetic distance (16.4–21.4%) indicate high similarity within a species and significant differences between species. The results of this study can be used to strengthen effective genetics-based sea turtle conservation programs in the Buleleng region of North Bali.

Abstract

Feeding management is crucial in the care of orangutans in captivity, particularly the understanding of individual feeding preferences as a key factor in animal welfare. This study aims to review feeding management, identify preferences, and analyze the feeding behavior of Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) at Gembira Loka Zoo, Yogyakarta. Observations were conducted on four accommodation individuals and two display individuals from May to July 2025, focusing on feeding position, technique, timing, and activity. The method used was descriptive observational with scan sampling from 08:00 to 15:00 local time, along with recording of feed types, weights, and leftovers. Preferences were analyzed using Jacobs’ Index (Di), categorized as highly preferred, preferred, less preferred, and not preferred, along with palatability assessment. Results showed that the main diet consisted of vegetables (64.90%), fruits (18.47%), and tubers (15.32%), with melon, tubers, and corn being the most preferred foods, while pumpkin and bok choy were less favored. Feeding behavior varied according to age, sex, social status, and activity level, dominated by sitting positions and techniques that demonstrated fine motor skills as well as adaptation to artificial environments. These findings are particularly beneficial for feeding management at Gembira Loka Zoo to minimize leftovers based on individual preferences, while also serving as a reference for improving animal welfare and the effectiveness of other ex situ conservation efforts.
