Abstract

Indonesia's population is the fourth largest in the world, around 273 million in 2020. And about 60% of them live in coastal areas. Most of them rely on the existence of coastal and marine natural resources. So it is not surprising that most of the daily activities and activities are always related to the existence of resources around the coast. One of the many threats to people living in coastal environments is coastal abrasion. Coastal abrasion is the process of coastal erosion caused by the destructive power of ocean waves and currents. The damage to the coastline is due to the disruption of the natural balance in the coastal area. Abrasion can be caused by nature but also human activities can be the main cause of abrasion. Coasts in various parts of Indonesia are known to have narrowed due to abrasion in recent years. At least 400 kilometers of Indonesia's coastline has been eroded by the disaster, according to data from the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs. Without immediate action, much of Indonesia's land is threatened with extinction in the coming years (Kompas, 2019). This disaster can have negative impacts such as damage to community settlements, pond land, and beach tourism, as well as damage to infrastructure or other facilities such as roads, houses, docks, trees, and electricity poles, socio-economic impacts, especially specifically to communities in coastal areas.

Abstract

Lakkang Island is a small island located in Tallo district, Makassar City, geographically located in the middle of the Makassar Urban Territory, its location is in the delta of the tallo river, so it is isolated from the mainland of Makassar. Access to Lakkang Island must be through water transportation lines by traditional boat (katamaran) as a means of crossing, this is due to the lack of bridge access towards Lakkang. To support the development of tourist areas and the needs of citizens for means of access to transportation. The port becomes the main facility as the suspension of ships that take off passengers, vehicles, goods. The lake islands are in a location on the tallo river and have close proximity to the lightning. The location and the surroundings make this harbour different from the river harbour in general. Analysis of the retreat into one of the parameters of the current, depth. The floating dock could be one of the applications on Lakkang Island. In the design of floating dock the thing to notice is that the size of the gates is small namum has a large capacity. Using load analysis using some material found the influence of the pelate thickness on draft and freeboard at the time of the planned full condition on the floating dock.

Abstract

Coral bleaching is a phenomenon in which corals or coral reefs lose their colour due to environmental stress. An example of coral bleaching that occurred in Indonesia is in the Bunaken marine park area, located on the island of Manado, North Sulawesi. The Bunaken marine park area is famous for underwater tourism and the many types of coral reefs that can be found. Based on data, coral bleaching cases have increased from year to year. This threatens the tourism industry, weakens the natural protection of the coast and harms the livelihoods of fishermen who depend on coral reefs, so special attention is needed to deal with the problems that are happening. The writing of this article was prepared using the literature study method. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the causes of coral bleaching and how the impact can be felt by local communities in the Bunaken National Park area, as well as explaining how efforts can be made to tackle coral bleaching that occurs. The impact of coral bleaching is very large on local communities in the Bunaken Marine Park area.

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness is still a very serious problem until now, even though cleanliness is something that must be considered for the government and the awareness of the citizens themselves. One small example is the cleanliness of canals and irrigation canals. The cleanliness of the place also affects the continuity of the system in the place, such as waterways which will have an impact on the marine ecosystem. If this happens to the marine ecosystem, it will certainly be very vital for coastal communities and fishermen who work as fishermen and seaweed farmers. Most marine debris consists of plastic. This waste can be found on the beach as well as in the depths of the sea. This marine debris also has different sizes: mega, micro, and nano. This can harm marine creatures and contaminate their habitat. This global problem is getting worse over time and it is predicted that plastic waste in the ocean will triple from 2015 to 2025. The accumulation of plastic waste has a major impact on the ocean from an environmental, economic, public health and wildlife perspective. For example, nanoplastics from seafood can enter the human body through the digestive tract to the circulatory system. However, the disadvantages are not directly linked to social benefits. To prevent the dumping of plastic waste, plastic products must be designed, used and disposed of more responsibly. In this paper, we will design an arduino nano-based garbage cleaning ship that can be monitored so that it can clean up marine debris but still on a small scale. The main feature of this ship's design is the FPV camera that can monitor the surroundings and the ship is driven using a remote control via wireless NRF24L01. With the creation of this tool, it is hoped that it can facilitate the performance of beach cleaners or anyone who wants to continue to maintain cleanliness, especially in the marine sector, and can foster a sense of responsibility for the cleanliness of the environment around where we live.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology designed to create computer systems that are able to imitate human intellectual abilities. As time progresses, the potential demand for sea transportation increases. Managing the increase in cargo and containers in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner is currently a major challenge for port operators and the logistic industry. In addition, port operators are not only facing an increasing increase in ship traffic. On the other hand, logistics distribution flow data is an absolute thing that must be managed well by maritime world stakeholders. The only solution to all these problems and challenges is to maximize the role of artificial intelligence-based technology and information systems in the maritime environment or what we often call Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, this research aims to analyze and explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support port operations in Indonesia.

Abstract

Ocean waves are a more predictable resource with a higher energy density compared to the sun and wind. Wave energy is also a type of renewable energy and is the largest estimated form of global resource from Ocean Energy. One of the Renewable Energies is the reduction technique, which is a floating device that moves effectively following the direction of the waves. This technology will be combined with Floating Breakwater. Floating Breakwater is an advanced level of Breakwater that is built by floating or floating using mooring ropes or mooring as a barrier so that the building is not carried away by the current. With various similarities that exist in both of them are the same floating, so this Floating Breakwater can generate electrical energy using ocean wave energy, therefore this attenual Floating Breakwater is considered effective because on the other hand it can be a beach protection building by reducing wave energy and converting wave energy into electrical energy through generators that are at the bottom and bottom end of the mooring or mooring rope. With this type of technology, it will be easier to adjust to the characteristics of the sea that will be used.

Abstract

The blue economy has recently become an important issue because healthy oceans provide jobs and food, support economic growth, regulate climate and support the well-being of coastal communities. The blue economy concept of marine and coastal resources is seen as a vital asset that can deliver long-term economic benefits if managed wisely. In the context of sustainable development, the blue economy concept offers sustainable and comprehensive solutions in the management of marine and coastal resources. However, implementing this concept requires strong commitment from all stakeholders, as well as full policy and regulatory support to ensure success. One of the key elements that has emerged as a solution to realizing the concept of a green economy is Big Data technology. Big Data technology allows the collection, storage, analysis and use of very large amounts of data at extraordinary speeds. In the marine and fisheries context, the use of Big Data technology opens up great opportunities in many different aspects of implementing the blue economy concept. The collection and analysis of big data enables more sophisticated monitoring of the marine environment, climate change, fish movements and other maritime activities. This research uses a descriptive approach with a literature study research method used to collect relevant and significant data by detailing information from various literature sources. The data obtained from this desk research method includes books, reports, documents, and research results that have been published in journals that have gone through a peer review process. These data sources include reports and documents published by government agencies and national and international organizations. This approach focuses on the sustainable use of resources, taking into account relevant environmental and social aspects

Abstract

Coastal and marine geohazard threats can occur in coastal tourism areas in Makassar City. Several coastal tourism sites in Makassar City are managed by the community, namely by the Tanjung Merdeka Community Empowerment Agency (LPM) and acts as a partner for socialisation activities. Tourism managers are still ignorant of the potential for coastal and marine geohazards, such as the lack of information on geohazard signs and the potential for accidents that lead to disasters for tourism visitors. Socialisation of coastal and marine geohazards in Makassar City's coastal tourism areas has been carried out with an increase in the average knowledge of participants by 45.3%. The increase in partner knowledge includes awareness, preparedness, and disaster response attitudes about coastal and marine geohazard phenomena in coastal tourism activities, which can ultimately encourage and realise partners as community-based tourism managers who implement early warning of disaster risk and occupational safety. Strengthening partners is realised by handing over coastal and ocean geohazard signs as an early warning of disasters that can occur at tourist sites.

Abstract

Makassar is one of the cities in Indonesia that is unlikely to be free from natural disasters. The problem is that the community, especially school-age children, is not yet responsive and alert and does not understand disaster preparedness's importance. Low knowledge, lack of information provision, and disaster risk management can increase the number of victims. Athirah Islamic School, one of the partners in this service, provides facilities for Psychoeducation activities for students. From this problem, a solution for disaster risk reduction is needed by giving psychoeducation (disaster mental health) and disaster preparedness around general reactions (behavior, emotion, cognition, and physical). Psychoeducation materials will be delivered by the Bosowa University psychology team, also partners in this Service activity. The implementation method of this service program includes mentoring and disaster preparedness training from a psychological perspective. The research method used in this service is experimental with a pretest-posttest design approach. The statistical analysis results showed a difference in student knowledge regarding disaster preparedness before and after participating in psychoeducation with a sig <0.05. This service concludes that the training provided to Athirah Bukit Baruga Islamic Middle School students positively impacts students' disaster preparedness knowledge.
