Abstract

To determine the effect of supportive psychotherapy and video-directing observed therapy interventions on family compliance in assisting patients with mental disorders in the working area of the Kabila Health Center, Bone Bolango District, Gorontalo City. Research design quasi-experimental design with a one group pre- and post-test design, where the variables to be measured are family adherence in providing treatment assistance, which are included in the dependent variable. The independent variables in this study were supportive psychotherapy and video-directed observation therapy. The sampling technique used was a total sampling technique with a sample size of 39 respondents. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis, namely descriptive analysis (frequency, percentage, median, minimum value, and maximum value) and bivariate analysis (Wilcoxon test), with a significance level of <0.05, which was performed using SPSS version 25 software. Supportive psychotherapy and video-directing observed therapy increased family compliance accompanying the treatment of patients with mental disorders (p-value of x1=0.020, x2=0.000, p<0.05). Supportive psychotherapy interventions and video-directed observed therapy have been proven to increase family compliance in treatment assistance, which can improve the quality of life of patients with mental disorders.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by insulin deficiency, if not controlled properly can cause various complications one of which is peripheral artery disease (PAD). This condition can worsen and cause wounds that are difficult to heal, gangrene and even amputation. Acupressure is useful in increasing the ankle-brachial index (ABI) value by improving the circulation of qi (vital energy) in the body. At the same time, DM gymnastics foot exercises can help strengthen the legs' muscles, improve artery function, and reduce the risk of peripheral artery disease. This study aims to identify the increase in the ankle-brachial index (abi) value by providing acupressure and foot exercise interventions in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test design approach on 60 respondents, and sample selection using purposive sampling. They were divided into 3 intervention groups, namely the Acupressure group (n = 20), the DM Exercise group (n = 20) and the Acupressure and DM gymnastics group (n = 20). They test each group's average ABI value difference using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed a significant difference in ABI values between the acupressure group (p = 0.000), DM exercise (p = 0.001) and the combination of acupressure and DM gymnastics (p = 0.000). Acupressure and DM gymnastics are effective interventions for increasing ABI values in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Acupressure and DM gymnastics can be recommended as one of independent complementary therapies in nursing care services for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Every pregnancy carries risks to the quality of birth outcomes, such as low birth weight (LBW). Interventions such as increased maternal knowledge, supervision, and intensive assistance are required, which can be performed by health cadres. The study aimed to examine the impact of knowledge on the incidence of LBW in pregnant women accompanied/assisted by cadres during pregnancy. This method combines descriptive research with a quasi-experiment. The study included 30 pregnant women who fulfilled the following criteria: single pregnancy, 30 weeks gestation, not a high-risk pregnancy, and no comorbidities. The study lasted three months, and the independent variable was the knowledge of pregnant women assisted by cadres, while the dependent variable was the incidence of LBW. Pregnant women's questionnaires and observation sheets were employed as instruments. T-Test and Yates' Correction were utilized during data analysis. The findings revealed a p-value of 0.031 increase in knowledge of pregnant women before and after being assisted by cadres during pregnancy, and the incidence of LBW was 3 cases (10%). With a p-value of 0.041, the results of Yates' Correction statistical test revealed that knowledge of pregnant women assisted by cadres is one of the determinants of the occurrence of LBW. It is critical to increase cadre involvement and role in assisting pregnant women.
