Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) urges all mothers to exclusively breastfeed until their babies are 6 months old. Breastfeeding alone without complementary foods until the age of 6 months has enormous benefits for the development and growth of infants and strengthens the affection between mother and child. However, the amount of exclusive breastfeeding coverage is still low. Data from the Health Service in 2018 only 46% received exclusive breastfeeding even though the national exclusive breastfeeding target was 80%. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Puskesmas which was carried out for one month. The crosssectional study design was conducted on 101 mothers with babies between 6 and 12 months who were selected by random sampling. The results of the chi-square analysis showed that there was an influence on age (p=0.001), parity (p=0.000), education (p=0.002), and knowledge (p=0.001). Conclusion: The percentage of failure to give exclusive breastfeeding is still high, with the factors of age, parity, education, and knowledge being very influential, so prevention efforts are needed that must be emphasized to mothers before giving birth.

Abstract

Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP) remain a major contributor to maternal mortality, particularly due to complications such as preeclampsia and eclampsia. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 585,000 maternal deaths occur annually, with more than half related to HDP. This study aimed to analyze the effect of effleurage massage on blood pressure in hypertensive pregnant women in Gorontalo City, Indonesia. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was applied. Sixty pregnant women aged 20–39 years, with gestational age 20–36 weeks and systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg, were recruited through purposive sampling. Participants received effleurage massage on the upper body for 20 minutes daily over five consecutive days. Blood pressure was measured before and after intervention. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests. The results showed significant reductions in mean systolic blood pressure (from 146.9 ± 3.7 to 132.0 ± 4.0 mmHg; p = 0.000) and diastolic blood pressure (from 88.3 ± 4.0 to 77.6 ± 4.1 mmHg; p = 0.000). Effleurage massage demonstrated a consistent lowering effect across all participants. This non-pharmacological intervention may serve as a safe complementary approach to antenatal care for mild HDP. Future randomized controlled trials are recommended to confirm its efficacy and to explore maternal–fetal outcomes.

Abstract

Breastfeeding mothers are one of the groups that are included in the nutritionally vulnerable group because breast milk is the main source that babies get from the mother. Therefore, mothers who are breastfeeding must pay attention to the nutritional intake they consume. Breast milk production is greatly influenced by the food the mother eats, even though a mother's regular and nutritious diet is very necessary to influence breast milk production, because the breastfeeding glands cannot work perfectly without sufficient food. To produce good breast milk production, the mother's diet must contain sufficient calories, protein, fat and vitamins and minerals. This research aims to determine the effect of kajauma (date nut) pudding on the production of postpartum women in Bone Bolango district. The type of research used was pre-testing with a pretest posttest control group design for 30 respondents. In this design there are two groups selected at random, one group is given green bean pudding and the second group is given kajauma (green date bean) pudding. From the difference in average breast milk production before and after the treatment, the biggest change in breast milk production was in the treatment group with kajauma pudding. The Independent T-Test obtained p=0.006 (<0.05), and the paired T Test carried out on changes in the two groups obtained p=0.000 (<0.05), so it can be concluded that the 2 treatment groups with kajauma pudding had an effect. which is better for breast milk production than treatment with green bean pudding.
