Abstract

This article examines and compares Western and Islamic perspectives on work motivation. Western theories, such as those by Maslow, McGregor, and Herzberg, emphasize secular factors and do not account for worship as a motivation, whereas Islam views worship as the primary driver for work. This suggests that Islamic work motivation stems from a different worldview compared to Western models. The study, a literature review using content and comparative analysis, adopts a philosophical approach with worldview theory as its framework. It consists of two stages: de-westernization, which reviews Western motivation theories, and integration, comparing these theories with Islamic concepts. The findings reveal that Western theories are rooted in secularism, humanism, materialism, and atheism, while Islamic work motivation is based on a non-secular worldview, with God at its center. These differing worldviews result in distinct motivational frameworks in Islam and the West. This study aims to enhance human capital management, particularly in diverse business organizations with heterogeneous workforces.

Abstract

Digital transformation in healthcare creates structural and cultural challenges, especially in institutions prioritizing interpersonal service. Hospital X has implemented limited digital services, such as WhatsApp teleconsultation, despite increasing patient demand—mainly from pre-elderly individuals—for digital accessibility. Using an exploratory qualitative approach, this study interviewed seven employees from clinical, administrative, and IT functions. Findings reveal limited digitalization due to strong humanistic values, low digital competency, the absence of a structured transformation plan, and minimal employee involvement in innovation. Resistance stems not only from technical issues but also from cultural and emotional factors. To address this, a five-pillar integrative model is proposed: (1) recontextualizing values, (2) engaging employees in innovation, (3) gradual digital literacy training, (4) transparent communication, and (5) feedback-driven evaluation. This model offers a practical framework for balancing human-centered values with digital advancements in healthcare institutions.

Abstract

Objective: Cyberloafing Behavior (CB) has emerged as a major concern in the workplace. Apart from causing decreased performance, cyberloafing also carries the risk of hacking or data breaches. This study seeks to explore how role stressors influence Cyberloafing Behavior among healthcare professionals. Methods: This study employed a quantitative research design, utilizing accidental sampling to collect data from 109 respondents at Sinar Kasih Hospital, Purwokerto. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. Result: The results of this study reveal that role stressors, which include Role Ambiguity (RA), Role Conflict (RC), and Role Overload (RO), have a statistically significant and positive impact on Cyberloafing Behavior (CB) among healthcare employees. High stress from unclear roles, conflicting duties, and heavy workloads increases the likelihood of non-work internet use. Addressing these stressors can help reduce counterproductive behavior and improve focus in healthcare environments. Novelty: This study recommends that healthcare organizations provide clear work guidelines to prevent role ambiguity, monitor workloads to reduce stress, and address role conflicts among employees. These strategies can help to reduce role stressor factors to prevent cyberloafing behavior among employees in order to avoid the risks arising from such behavior. The novelty of this study lies in its application of varied research subjects and a distinct methodological approach, setting it apart from previous studies. By focusing on the healthcare sector and employing SEM analysis, it offers new insights into the relationship between role stressors and Cyberloafing Behavior.

Abstract

Optimal employee performance is a crucial aspect in the banking industry, which is characterized by high pressure, demanding targets, and complex service processes. Bank Mandiri, as one of the largest banks in Indonesia, faces ongoing challenges in maintaining superior human resource performance within an increasingly dynamic and competitive environment. In this context, leadership and work systems play a vital role in supporting both individual and organizational performance. This study aims to examine the role of transformational leadership in enhancing employee performance through the implementation of a high-performance work system (HPWS) and the facilitation of knowledge sharing as mediating variables. The study adopts a quantitative explanatory approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to employees of Bank Mandiri in Semarang City. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the support of AMOS software. The findings indicate that transformational leadership positively influences employee performance and the implementation of HPWS. HPWS is also found to have a positive effect on employee performance and knowledge sharing, while knowledge sharing contributes positively to employee performance. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that HPWS plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance. The combined mediation of HPWS and knowledge sharing further strengthens this relationship. Overall, these findings highlight the importance of effective leadership, well-designed work systems, and a strong knowledge-sharing culture in optimizing employee performance within the banking sector.
