Abstract

The prevalence of overweight (obesity) has increased significantly in the world. During this decade, obesity will become a health problem. Even today, obesity is referred to as the New World Syndrome, where it is continuity increasing the number of events almost all over the world. Based on Riskesdas in 2010, the prevalence of adult obesity in Indonesia had reached 21.7%, significantly increasing if it was compared to the previous Riskesdas in 2007 which were 10.3%. Obesity in the younger people was associated with the increased of the incident risk of coronary heart disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and metabolic disorders. Obesity has a strong correlation with morbidity and mortality, and received serious attention on the causes, prevention and treatment efforts. Until now, there has been no specific drugs used for weight loss. People saw fitoterapi as a weight loss (besides diet)drug, because it has been considered relatively safe and without significant side effects. Jamu consisting of Jati Belanda, Kemuning, Kelembak and tempuyung was used in Saintifikasi Jamu Clinic. The results in this jamu showed that capsule weight loss has gave lower Body Mass Index (BMI) for 2 months but it has not lowered the BMI category of overweight to normal. The jamu could significantly reduce the weight of research subyek after administration for 28 days, with an average decline of 3.9 Kg and a highly significantly decrease after 56 days administration, with an average decrease of 6.7 Kg, compared to the initial weight. Medicinal herb could reduce the waist 41.1 cm, after 56 days administration. The herbs could not reduce the upper arm circumference, after 56 days administration.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a degenerative disease with a reasonably high prevalence and requires long-term treatment. Clinical research has been conducted to test the efficacy and safety of herbal medicine for hyperuricemia. The research involved 30 subjects who had fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria and conducted with a pre-post test research design. Subjects were treated with herbal medicine for hyperuricemia three times a day for 28 days. From the research, jamu for hyperuricemia was effective in reducing blood uric acid levels from 7.43 mg/dL to 5.72 mg/dL, raising the quality of life score (SF-36) from 78.06 to 81.50, and disappeared of clinical symptoms. Use of herbal medicine for hyperuricemia for 28 days in subjects had no symptoms of severe side effects found and did not interfere with liver, kidney, and blood function.

Abstract

Background: Given the number of patients failing to achieve control of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), it causes an increase in the incidence of DM complications. Along with the rapid development of technology in this era, this study aimed to prove the effectiveness of technology-based health management compared to usual treatment for levels glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.Subjects and Method: This was a meta-analysis using a randomized controlled trial. Articles were obtained from PubMed, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate databases. The articles used in this study were those published from 2012-2021. The search article was carried out by considering the eligibility of the criteria determined using the PICO model. Population: type 2 DM patients (HbA1c>7%), Intervention: health management-assisted technology, Comparison: usual care Outcome: HbA1c levels. There were 10 articles used with a sample size of 1693 people who were divided into two groups (845 people in the health management-assisted technology group and 848 people in the group usual care). Articles were analyzed using Review Manager 5.3 Application to determine the Standard Mean Difference (SMD) and heterogeneity of the study sample. Results: From 10 articles that were processed using RevMan 5.3, significant results were obtained, this is indicated by the overall effect (diamond) which does not touch the vertical line H0 (d= 0) and can also be seen from the 95% CI range of -0.62 to -0.13 which shows significant because it does not pass the number 0 (SMD= -0.37; 95% CI= -0.62 to -0.13; p= 0.003). The heterogeneity of the research data shows I2 = 82% so that the distribution of the data is very heterogeneous (random effects model). Conclusion: Using technology to help health management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus can reduce HbA1c levels compared to usual care. Keywords: Health management, technology, diabetes mellitus, HbA1cCorrespondence: Fajar Novianto. Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 is the most common type of diabetes caused by insulin resistance and relative deficiency of insulin secretion. Several studies have shown inconsistent results regarding the effect of Zingiber officinale powder in patients with type 2 DM. As a result of these inconsistencies, researchers are compelled to prove the effect of Zingiber officinale powder on fasting blood sugar (GDP) and HbA1c levels in type 2 DM patients through a meta-analysis study.Subject and Method: This study is a meta-analysis of a number of randomized controlled trials. The articles were obtained from the PubMed, Science Direct, Springerlink and Google Scholar databases published in 2012-2022. The search articles were carried out by considering the feasibility of the criteria determined using the PICO model. Population: type 2 DM patients, Intervention: Zingiber officinale rhizome powder, Comparison: placebo, Outcome: GDP and HbA1c levels. The keywords used are “Zingiber officinale” OR “Zingiber” OR “Z. officinale” OR “Ginger” AND “Fasting blood glucose” AND “HbA1c” OR “A1c” OR “Glicemic” OR “Glucose” OR “Diabetes Mellitus” OR “type 2 diabetes mellitus” AND “Randomized Controlled Trial”. Article selection with PRISMA flow diagram. Analysis of articles using the Revman 5.3 application. Results: A total of 11 articles were reviewed in this study. Analysis of 11 articles showed that administration of Zingiber officinale rhizome powder could significantly reduce GDP levels in type 2 DM patients (Standardized Mean Difference (SMD)= -0.79; 95% CI= -1.32 to -0.26; p= 0.004). Analysis of 10 articles showed that administration of Zingiber officinale rhizome powder could significantly reduce HbA1c levels (SMD = -0.38; 95% CI= -0.55 to -0.22; p<0.001).Conclusion: Zingiber officinale rhizome powder can significantly reduce GDP and HbA1c levels in type 2 DM patients. Keywords: Zingiber officinale, diabetes mellitus tipe 2, GDP, HbA1cCorrespondence: Fajar Novianto. Abstract

Increasing stakeholder demand has driven firms to integrate environmental sustainability into their business strategies. Green accounting, encompassing environmental performance and green investment, has become a key approach to achieving these goals. This study examines the effect of green accounting on financial performance, with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a moderating variable. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted using quantitative data from financial and sustainability reports of publicly traded Indonesian firms (2021–2023). The findings indicate that environmental performance significantly enhances financial performance by improving legitimacy and operational efficiency. However, green investment does not directly influence financial performance, nor does CSR moderate it. While CSR independently strengthens financial performance, its moderating role in environmental performance negatively impacts short-term financial results, suggesting that CSR costs may outweigh immediate benefits. The study underscores the need for firms to optimize cost management and effectively communicate sustainability efforts to enhance stakeholder trust and long-term financial performance.
