Abstract

This study aims at examining the agreement level between clinical diagnoses by a senior psychologist in the hospital and diagnoses/screening on Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire conducted by parents. Using ICD 10 (Indonesian version) as the gold standard, a clinical child psychologist diagnosed 253 male and female elementary school children aged 7-14 years old. Parents of the same children were requested to fill-out the SDQ questionnaire (SDQ-PR).  Psychometric property of SDQ-PR was analyzed using Alpha Cronbach and Principal Axis Factoring Analysis. Screening quality of SDQ-PR was examined using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC), Likelihood Ratio (LR+ and LR-), and Chi-square. Reliabilities of SDQ-PR in all subscales were (α = 0.562 to α = 0.684) except subscale of peer-problem (α = 0.174). Different from the original version of SDQ-PR that consists of 5 subscales, this study revealed 8 subscales. LR and ROC analyses for hyperkinetic revealed LR+ = 1.84 and LR– = 0.51, sensitivity = 67.6% and specificity = 63.3% with cut-off score ≥ 6. For behavior disorder, the LR+ = 2.3, LR- = 0.42, sensitivity = 70.96%, and specificity = 69.15% with cut-off score ≥ 4. As for behavior disorder the LR+ = 1.07, LR- = 0.94, sensitivity = 50%, specificity 53.27% with cut-off score ≥ 4. Chi-square score indicated a significant correlation between SDQ-PR and the diagnoses from child psychologist for hyperkinetic and behavior disorder, but not for an emotional problem.

Abstract

When Muslims perform hijrah, they have transformed their lives, including their worship, from a life of wrongdoing to the path of righteousness (repentance/taubat). While research on Muslim samples has consistently demonstrated that worship increases life satisfaction significantly, few researches have been able to elucidate how worship can generate life satisfaction in Muslims. This research aimed to find out whether attachment to God is significant in mediating the influence of worship on life satisfaction. This research used quantitative research to collect 205 samples of Muslims who performed hijrah in Pekanbaru through snowball sampling. The statistical analysis using the structural equation model with partial least squares (SEM-PLS), revealed that attachment to God significantly mediates the impact of worship on life satisfaction (β = 0.07, T = 2.49, p-values = 0.01). The upsilon (v) value indicated that the mediating effect of attachment to God was still relatively modest. The results of this research contributed to the advancement of Islamic psychotherapy grounded in worship practices to strengthen the connection with God and feel more satisfied with life

Abstract

Biology teachers at MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru still rely on conventional learning resources that do not fully meet the needs of an Islamic-based curriculum. This limitation has an impact on students' ability to internalize Biology concepts within a holistic Islamic framework. Therefore, workshops and interventions are needed through the provision of flipbook-based Biology e-modules integrated with the values of the Qur'an and As-Sunnah to improve the quality of learning and student understanding. This community service aims to improve the capacity of biology teachers' skills at MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru by using flipbook-based biology enrichment e-modules integrated with the values of the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. The partner profile shows that most teachers at MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru have good pedagogical competence, but need to increase their capacity in utilizing digital technology-based learning resources integrated with Islamic values. This condition requires intensive training and mentoring programs for teachers so that they are able to optimize the use of flipbook-based e-modules that are in accordance with the needs of the curriculum and Islamic values. The results of the workshop showed that biology teachers at MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru were in the category of having quite good skills in using e-modules in learning, but they needed to get used to it so that they could become more skilled.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the level of academic hope among Patani, Thailand students studying in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. According to Snyder, hope is one of the key factors influencing academic success. Recent data shows that the dropout rate in Pekanbaru is 10%, caused by various factors such as difficulties in cultural adaptation, language barriers, financial problems, and academic pressure. This research uses a quantitative approach involving 52 Patani students at the Islamic University of Riau. The interventions implemented include psychoeducation training, mentoring programs, and psychosocial support. Academic hope was measured using Snyder's Adult State Hope through pretest and posttest. The pretest results showed that 11% of students had low hope, 78% had moderate hope, and 11% had high hope. After the intervention, posttest results showed a decrease to 6% in low hope, 33% in moderate hope, and an increase to 61% in high hope. The increase in academic hope is expected to significantly reduce the dropout rate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the pretend play method on sexuality knowledge in children with mild intellectual disabilities, while controlling for age, concentration, and verbal ability in special needs schools. This quantitative research uses an experimental approach with a pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 60 children, aged 11–14 years, with mild intellectual disabilities were selected through stratified random sampling and assigned to either the experimental group or the control group, each consisting of 30 participants. Data collection was conducted using modules and tests. The results revealed that the pretend play method significantly improved sexuality knowledge in children with mild intellectual disability, with an F value for the pretend play variable of 540.1 and a significance level of p=0.00 (p<0.01). Additionally, age, concentration, and verbal ability were positively correlated with sexuality knowledge, confirming their importance as covariates. These findings suggest that the pretend play method can serve as an effective educational strategy for enhancing sexuality knowledge among children with mild intellectual disability, highlighting the importance of integrating structured play-based learning into special education curricula to support their cognitive and social development.
