Abstract

AbstractThis recent study discusses the role of the leader in improving librarian performance at the Library of MAN 2 Pontianak. This study aims to determine the role, efforts, and obstacles faced in improving librarian performance. The method used in this study was qualitative in the form of descriptive research. The data were collected using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The informants who took part in the study were the headmaster and the head of the school library. The findings showed that the headmaster plays a significant role in improving the librarians’ performances. The obstacle faced was that librarians are still lacking in discipline. Considering the problem, the alternative way to overcome it is to provide human resources with the educational background of library education to facilitate the processing and management of the library.  Keywords: Librarian roles, Performances, School Library

Abstract

AbstractHuman resource is one of the important parts of organizing a library. However, the human resources at the library of SMKN 1 Pontianak have not been well-organized in carrying out the given tasks. Therefore, human resource management is necessary for making the works are carried out maximally and systematically. Reviewing the implementation of management function on human resources management and difficulties in implementing it, this study aims to determine the implementation of the human resource management function in the library of SMKN 1 Pontianak. This study is descriptive research using the qualitative method. The data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Three informants participated in this study. Based on the results, the management function on human resource management has been ineffectively implemented for it was only applied based on needs at the library. In the practice, not all the plans made was able to execute since their capabilities were limited. If the management of human resources is not implemented, it will result in work activities in the library becoming unsystematic because they do not fully understand the system of the school library, the work planning, and the work division that is beyond their capabilities. Keywords: Management, Human Resources, School Library

Abstract

AbstractThe ineffective and time-consuming search of information in the library has caused many book collections being unused and it has been the researcher’s concern in this study. This study aims to account the efforts and constraints of librarians in conducting their role as educators in information search service. The study was conducted using qualitative method, in which the discussion was presented descriptively. The data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation to six informants. The findings show that the users are still confused in doing information search in the library. As the result, they must spend more time searching for the collection of books. This problem can be resolved by providing assistance to the users. Therefore, librarians as the educator take an important role in helping the users to find the relevant, correct, and accurate information independently. The constraints faced in providing library service are insufficient internet connection, limited facility, and lack of human resources. Keywords: Information Search, Library of Universitas Tanjungpura, Roles of Librarians.

Abstract

AbstractSearch behavior that is shown by someone when interacting with information systems so that information seeking behavior to meet their needs. Information seeking behavior begins when someone feels that there is knowledge they have when it is less than the knowledge they need. The purpose of this research is to describe students 'behavior in information retrieval at the STMIK library in Pontianak and to describe the students' constraints in information retrieval at the STMIK Library in Pontianak. This research is a field research (empirical). In this study, the type of research used is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. While the data collection method used is observation, interviews, and documentation. In this study, informants were STMIK Pontianak students. The results show that the user does not follow the search phase in accordance with Ellis's theory. Some students search directly into the bookshelf according to their needs, for some reason they already know where they want books. The problem faced by users is the absence of an information search tool. Keywords: information seeking behavior, information retrieval

Abstract

AbstractThe librarian is one of the activator elements and organization of service activities, without the librarian who organize and provide services, the library will not have services. The problem raised by the writer is “Librarian Performance in the Deposit Service of the Library and Archives Service of West Kalimantan Province”. The purpose of this research is to determine the performance of the librarian on deposit services, the factors that influence and the effort made to improve the performance of the librarian. The type of research that will be used is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection is by using observation and interviews, and documentation technique. A technique of data analysis is carried out with data reduction, data model and with conclusion. The result of study showed that a performance of librarian is good. It cause the given job to librarians is finished by responsibility and on time. A factor of influence performance are self factors and work environment factors. A conclusion to increase a performance of librarian is following technical guidance, workshop, traning for adding experience and science library. Keywords: Deposit Service, Performance Librarian, Province Library, West Kalimantan

Abstract

AbstractThis study discusses the evaluation of circulation services in the Office of Archives and Regional Library of Kubu Raya. This research is motivated by the lack of utilization of circulation services. This has an impact on the satisfaction of librarians in searching for information. The purpose of this study is to describe the evaluation of circulation services and find out the services applied to the Office of Archives and the Regional Library of Kubu Raya Regency. In this thesis, I?am using qualitative methods in a descriptive form. The way I collect data is through interviews, observations, and documentation conducted with 4 (four) informants. The results of this study explain that the stages of input, the stage of the process, and the stage of the output in the evaluation of circulation services, have met the needs of librarians and have been implemented well. But the satisfaction of the librarians must really be considered to improve the image of library services. The results of the evaluation of circulation services indicate the level of satisfaction of users of the services provided by librarians and managers, at the Archives Service and the Regional Library of Kubu Raya Regency.Keywords: Circulation Services, Libraries, Service Evaluation

Abstract

Abstract                 Searching for information can be done simply (basic) or complex. Its depends on the level of ability of the information seeker. The study was to describe the relationship between the ability to search and the relevance of search results on the e-resources portal of the National Library of Indonesia (PNRI) so that it can find ways to maximize the ability to search for scientific digital information sources on that portal. The method used was quantitative with descriptive statistics analysis. The technique of colleting data was questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. For  the population, there were 108 active students of  D-3 Library Science Study Program in the FKIP, while the sample was D-3 Library Science Study Program students who have accessed e-resources services of PNRI with the numbers 45 students who are considered representative in terms of search capabilities. The results showed that there was a relationship between the ability of students in searching and e-resources database of PNRI with the relevance of search results. It can be seen from the suitability of journal articles and electronic books that they were searching. 78,05% of students were able to search and got relevant results because they were influenced by the selection strategy of the search strategy. The effectiveness of strategy selection was also influenced by the ability to break down or formulate keywords. In these study, the ability to formulate keywords as the basis of search was in the low category, but the combination to get the needed information was in the high category.  Keywords: searching for information, e-resources, National Library of Indonesia

Abstract

Keberadaan Kampung Caping mulai ramai diperbincangkan karena keunikan dan pengembangan lingkungan kampung sebagai destinasi wisata berbasis kearifan lokal. Kampung Caping menyuguhkan beberapa edukasi menarik bagi para wisatawan yang berkenan mengunjungi. Perpustakaan Bahagia Mendawai merupakan salah satu unit yang berada di kawasan Kampung Caping yang berperan mengedukasi warga sekitar. Guna mendukung kemajuan kawasan tersebut, tim pengabdian bermitra dengan perpustakaan Bahagia Mendawai agar para pengelola perpustakaan maupun warga mendapat keterampilan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi, menjadikan warga lebih mandiri dan maju. Tim pengabdian masyarakat Prodi D-3 Perpustakaan berupaya berkontribusi memberikan keterampilan melalui program pelatihan keterampilan kreativitas digital di Kampung Caping. Dalam pelaksanaannya, tim berkolaborasi dengan mahasiswa dan mitra. Metode yang dipilih berupa workshop dalam bentuk tutorial dan project-based, dilanjutkan dengan diskusi mengenai pembuatan infografis dan e-book sebagai media publikasi produk dan kegiatan Kampung Caping. Masyarakat sasarannya terdiri dari pengelola perpustakaan Bahagia Mendawai, ibu rumah tangga, dan siswa sekolah di sekitar Kampung Caping dengan total peserta 31 orang. Hasilnya para pengelola Perpustakaan Bahagia Mendawai memperoleh pengetahuan pembuatan infografis dan memanfaatkannya untuk mendokumentasikan kegiatan perpustakaan, mendampingi warga untuk publikasi karya, dan meningkatkan minat berkarya sehingga kemampuan literasi meningkat. Ibu-ibu mendapat keterampilan memanfaatkan platform book creator untuk mendokumentasikan karya anak mereka menjadi buku digital. Siswa sekolah juga bisa memanfaatkan kedua platform tersebut untuk membantu mempermudah merangkum poin-poin inti pelajaran menggunakan infografis dan berkarya menulis cerita sederhana secara digital menggunakan book creator. Kata kunci: Literasi Digital, Infografis; Buku Digital

Abstract

The culture of literacy is currently being promoted massively because of its potential in building the quality of the nation. Literacy does not grow by itself, it needs support such as libraries that provides sources of information, therefore there is a role carried out by libraries in supporting literacy. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the Rosella Genematrik Library, obstacles, efforts to hdanling literacy problems in children in the North Pontianak, especially in Siantan Tengah. The research used qualitative methods with data collection techniques such as observations dan in-depth interviews with 6 informants, dan documentation. Data analysis techniques using reduction, presentation, dan then drawing conclusions. Data validity tests using triangulation. The results showed that the Rosella Genematrik Library acts as a source of information, a non- formal educational institution, as well as a facilitator, mediator dan motivator. The role of libraries in improving children's literacy has not been fully realized due to several obstacles such as human resources, insufficient medium, dan the attention dan interest of the surrounding community. The efforts made to alleviate the existing problems are to provide comfort dan satisfaction in finding the information they need dan promoting them to the local community.Keywords: Literacy, library role, reading culture
