Abstract

The development of beef cattle production requires social interaction in the context of space and time. The development of beef cattle areas cannot be separated from the dynamics of social change that occur at the microlevel in the rural areas, making it interesting to study. This research aims to analyze the factors that played a role in the development of the beef cattle population in Jayakarta Village, Talang Empat Subdistrict, Central Bengkulu Regency, between 1972 and 2022. Data was collected through in-depth interviews involving key informants using the snowball method and then analyzed using an interactive method with a social change theory approach to aspects of structural and cultural change in rural communities. The research results show that the development of beef cattle is caused by the gradual production and reproduction of various cattle-rearing systems. The development of the beef cattle population is encouraged through the Government Livestock Program and the massive expansion of oil palm plantations, especially by private plantations that provide a source of cattle feed in plantation areas. Structural changes led to the formation of a semi-intensive rearing system starting in 2010 and an extensive rearing system that started in 2013, causing a change in the culture of rural community beef cattle rearing system, which was initially only intensive.

Abstract

The sugar palm is one of the most important commodities in the Rejang Lebong Regency. Sugar palms have not been widely processed into value-added products because the community solely produces brown sugar. The goal of this study is to identify potential challenges and propose product diversification strategies that will boost the value added and sustainability of sugar palm firms in the Rejang Lebong Regency. This study was carried out in the Rejang Lebong Regency during August to October 2023. Data were gathered through observations, focus group discussions, and in-depth interviews. A fishbone diagram was used to identify potential and map product diversification challenges, while palm product diversification plans were developed using a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) matrix. The research results indicated that the diversification of sugar palm products is hindered by limited human resources in using technological innovations, restricted use of agricultural machinery, insufficient business partnerships, and local government programs that are not yet integrated into the development of product diversification. The strategy for sugar palm product diversification can be implemented by developing market alliances and improving processing technologies for MSMEs, with government program assistance and access to funding. Abstract

Peternak pada wilayah perkebunan kelapa sawit di Kabupaten Seluma telah banyak memanfaatkan potensi solid limbah sawit sebagai sumber pakan sapi potong. Kelompok Ternak Tunas Harapan, Desa Sumber Arum, Kecamatan Sukaraja, mulai menggunakan pakan solid pada tahun 2009 sampai dengan tahun 2017, namun saat ini sudah banyak peternak yang tidak lagi menggunakannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor penghambat penggunaan solid pada Kelompok Ternak Tunas Harapan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juli sampai dengan Agustus 2020. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara (FGD) melibatkan empat orang informan, yaitu tiga orang pengurus kelompok tani dan penyuluh pertanian lapangan. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah hasil identifikasi faktor-faktor teknis, ekonomi, dan sosial terkait dengan pemeliharaan sapi potong. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor teknis menjadi penghambat utama penggunaan solid dengan nilai sebesar 63,7%, diikuti oleh faktor ekonomi (25,8%), dan faktor sosial (10,5%). Penurunan skala pemeliharaan ternak dari 4-5 ekor menjadi 1-2 ekor merupakan faktor teknis yang dominan menghambat keberlanjutan penggunaan solid di lapangan.

Abstract

Peran Penyuluh Pertanian sangat ditentukan oleh situasi yang dihadapi di lapangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Penyuluh Pertanian dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan pada saat wabah pandemi covid 19. Data dikumpulkan dari hasil penelusuran informasi berita media online sejak bulan Maret – Juli 2020. Informasi yang dikumpulkan berupa konten kegiatan penyuluhan yang terkait dengan ketahanan pangan dari sumber media online yaitu situs berita online dan situs pemerintah tentang peran penyuluh dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan pada saat wabah pandemi covid 19. Informasi yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa peran penyuluh dalam melakukan kegiatan Penyuluhan pada saat wabah pandemi covid 19 yaitu peran penyuluh sebagai pendukung kebijakan program pemerintah, motivator bagi petani dan fasilitator dalam mendukung kegiatan usahatani. Secara khusus, peran penyuluh lebih banyak di arahkan pada upaya dalam rangka mempertahankan ketahanan pangan (71.15%) terutama untuk komoditas padi yakni sebesar 54 % dengan cara metode penyuluhan langsung menggunakan protokol covid 19 sebanyak 79 %. Kata kunci : peran penyuluh, ketahanan pangan, pandemi covid 19, media online.
