Abstract

One of the propositions of inkshedding was that it could broaden opportunity of everyone’s expressing their ideas in written form by inviting others to read and comment on the written ideas. These comments were supposed to assist the writers to improve their writing and to make their ideas easily ‘heard’. Therefore, I utilized the idea provocation technique - inkshedding in my research to see the improvement of the focus and content of the written ideas. Focus was the single controlling point made with an awareness of task (mode) about specific topic while content was The presence of ideas developed through facts, examples, anecdotes, details, opinions, statistics, reasons, and/or explanations. I collected the research data from the written comments made by 13 out of the 38 students joining my class who completed all the six inkshedding tasks. Their comments were posted online in the blog and mailing list. To validate my study, I invited my a senior colleague to be the investigator triangulator by examining the written ideas, in term of the quality of focus and content using the same assessment rubric as I did. My and his scores were then correlated using Pearson correlation coefficient and the result was 93.50% for focus and 94.30% for content, which meant there was high positive correlation between my scoring and the investigator’s. This was an indication of the validity of the scoring.

Abstract

Sebuah isu penting dalam sistem pendidikan di Indonesia saat ini adalah peningkatan kualitas sekolah. Namun, upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas masih menghadapi berbagai masalah, seperti fasilitas fisik yang tidak memadai dan kualitas guru. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi integrasi etika dalam kepemimpinan untuk mendukung pengembangan guru di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 4 di Kota Banjarmasin. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi untuk memahami strategi, karakteristik, dan dampak integrasi etika dalam kepemimpinan terhadap pengembangan guru. Informan penelitian terdiri dari kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, pendidik, dan siswa. Temuan penelitian termasuk strategi kepemimpinan yang melibatkan memberikan contoh bagi bawahan, mempertimbangkan konsekuensi jangka panjang, menetapkan standar etika agama sebagai norma budaya, dan mempertimbangkan aspek heterogenitas dalam mengembangkan budaya etika di sekolah. Karakteristik kepemimpinan yang ditemukan meliputi religius, kejujuran, keadilan, disiplin, ketegasan, dan simpati. Dampak dari integrasi etika dalam kepemimpinan terlihat dalam perilaku dan aspek akademik. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi etika dalam kepemimpinan dapat memiliki dampak positif. Proses ini memengaruhi orang lain dengan memimpin secara etis, sesuai dengan standar etika yang telah ditetapkan, dan meningkatkan kualitas guru dalam mencapai visi bersama institusi. Dengan demikian, nilai-nilai yang dianut oleh komunitas sekolah dapat dipertahankan sambil meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of the test: The Influence Between the Discovery Learning Model and Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic Learning Styles on Students' Interpersonal Intelligence in Social Studies. This experimental research and the subjects in this study were VII grade students of public schools in the city of Surabaya consisting of two classes, namely the Experimental class and the control class. The hypothesis of this study was tested using the ANOVA statistical test. Based on the results of the hypothesis testing and discussion, it can be concluded: There is a difference in the influence of the use of the Discovery Learning Model and the lecture method on Interpersonal Intelligence, There is a difference in the influence of different Learning Styles on Interpersonal Intelligence in Social Studies Class subjects, students with a tendency to use the Discovery Learning Model are visual and audio learning styles, while students with a tendency to use the lecture method are audio learning styles, and There is an interaction effect between the Discovery Learning Model and different Learning Styles on Interpersonal Intelligence, in this case different Learning styles as moderator variables strongly support a strong relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable. The effect of using the Discovery Learning Model with different Learning Styles can improve students' Interpersonal Intelligence Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hasil pengujian: Pengaruh Antara Model Discovery Learning dan Gaya Belajar visual, auditori dan kinestetik Terhadap Kecerdasan Interpersonal Siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS. Penelitian yang bersifat eksperimen dan Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Kelas VII sekolah negeri di kota Surabaya yang terdiri dua kelas yaitu kelas Eksprimen dan kelas kontrol. Hipotesis penelitian ini diuji menggunakan uji statistika ANOVA. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis dan pembahasan maka dapat disimpulkan Terdapat perbedaan pengaruh penggunaan Model Discovery Learning dan metode ceramah terhadap Kecerdasan Interpersonal, Terdapat perbedaan pengaruh Gaya Belajar yang berbeda terhadap Kecerdasan Interpersonal pada mata pelajaran IPS Kelas, siswa dengan memiliki kecenderungan gaya belajar yang menggunakan Model Discovery Learning yaitu gaya belajar visual dan audio, sedangkan siswa dengan memiliki kecenderungan gaya belajar yang menggunakan metode ceramah adalah gaya belajar audio, dan Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara Model Discovery Learning dan Gaya Belajar yang berbeda terhadap Kecerdasan Interpersonal, dalam hal ini gaya Belajar yang berbeda sebagai variabel moderator sangat mendukung hubungan yang kuat antara variabel bebas dan variabel terikatnya. Pengaruh penggunaan Model Discovery Learning dengan Gaya Belajar yang berbeda dapat meningkatkan Kecerdasan Interpersonal siswa

Abstract

In contemporary secondary EFL (English as a Foreign Language) education, formative assessments play a critical role in enhancing students' language proficiency. This research explores the perceptions and experiences of EFL students in Sidoarjo regarding formative assessment practices. The central research question focuses on how students' perceptions and experiences with formative assessments influence their engagement and language development. Employing a phenomenological approach, qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations with 25 secondary EFL students. Thematic analysis identified recurring patterns and themes, providing a comprehensive understanding of how these students perceive and experience formative assessment practices. Findings reveal that students perceive their experiences with interactive tools like Kahoot! and Quizizz as highly engaging and motivating, which they believe contributes to a more dynamic and participatory learning environment. Additionally, students' experiences with timely and constructive feedback were pivotal in helping them recognize and correct mistakes, thereby improving their language skills. Peer assessment and self-reflection were also seen as fostering a more student-centered learning environment, though some students encountered challenges in consistently understanding and applying these methods. These challenges underscore the need for better support and resources to ensure effective implementation. The research concludes that well-designed formative assessments, when aligned with students' perceptions and experiences, can substantially improve engagement and language proficiency. Recommendations include integrating interactive tools, emphasizing constructive feedback, and promoting peer assessment and self-reflection. Future research should explore the long-term impacts of formative assessments on EFL learning outcomes. This study underscores the transformative potential of formative assessments in EFL education and advocates for continuous support to enhance their effective implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Google Sites learning media for Social Studies Class VIII on the material of Ocean Exploration, Colonialism, and Imperialism in Indonesia that is suitable for use in learning. The product is a web. The development model used is ADDIE which consist of five interrelated stages, namely Analyze. Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used in data collection are questionnaires, namely closed questionnaires and open questionnaires. Data alaysis techniques use qualittive descriptive analysis techniques and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. This research was conducted at a public junior high school in Surabaya with 100 students as participants. Media, material and design experts as validators in order to validate the web. The results obtained are that the Google Sites learning media for Social Studies Class VIII on the material Ocean Exploration, Colonialism, and Imperialism in Indonesia is suitable for use for learning. Positive responses from learners in individual trials, small groups, and large groups. Abstrak Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan mengembangkan media pembelajaran google sites mata pelajaran IPS Kelas VIII pada materi Penjelajahan Samudera, Kolonialisme, dan Imperialisme di Indonesia yang layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Produk berupa web. Model pengembangan yang digunakan yaitu ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap yang saling berkaitan yakni Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data berupa angket yakni angket tertutup dan angket terbuka. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitaif dan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu SMP Negeri di Surabaya sejumlah 100 siswa sebagai responden. Ahli media, materi dan desain sebagai validator dalam memvalidasi web. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah media pembelajaran google sites Mata Pelajaran IPS Kelas VIII pada materi Penjelajahan Samudera, Kolonialisme, dan Imperialisme di Indonesia layak digunakan untuk pembelajaran. Tanggapan positif dari pebelajar baik uji coba perorangan, kelompok kecil, maupun besar.

Abstract

For countless junior high school students, the world of mathematics remains a daunting labyrinth, with many struggling to navigate its complex pathways· This research aims to develop, validate, and implement an Interactive Mathematics e-Textbook designed to enhance student engagement in mathematics learning, with a specific focus on number operations for seventh-grade students· The e-textbook is built upon the innovative WISE Habits Model, which incorporates four key stages: Wondering, Investigating, Synthesizing, and Expressing· These stages are strategically integrated to create an interactive and engaging inquiry-based learning experience that promotes active participation and deep understanding of mathematical concepts· The study employs a comprehensive Research and Development methodology, utilizing the ADDIE model to systematically develop and refine the e-textbook· The validation of the e-textbook involves a panel of highly qualified experts in mathematics, instructional design, and educational media to rigorously assess the e-textbook's content accuracy, pedagogical effectiveness, and technical quality, providing valuable feedback for refinement· The results of this study indicate that the developed interactive mathematics e-textbook is a highly valid and effective instructional tool to enhance student engagement in learning. Abstrak Pelajaran matematika masih dipandang sebagai suatu labirin yang menakutkan sehingga menjadi momok bagi banyak siswa SMP· Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan, memvalidasi, dan mengimplementasikan e-Textbook Matematika Interaktif yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika, dengan fokus khusus pada operasi bilangan untuk siswa kelas VII· E-Textbook ini dirancang berdasarkan Model WISE Habits yang inovatif, dengan empat tahap utama: Wondering, Investigating, Synthesizing, dan Expressing· Tahapan-tahapan ini secara strategis diintegrasikan untuk menciptakan pengalaman belajar berbasis inkuiri yang interaktif dan menarik, yang mendorong partisipasi aktif dan pemahaman mendalam konsep matematika· Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi Penelitian dan Pengembangan yang komprehensif, memanfaatkan model ADDIE untuk secara sistematis mengembangkan dan menyempurnakan e-Textbook· Validasi e-Textbook melibatkan panel ahli yang berkualitas tinggi dalam bidang matematika, desain pembelajaran, dan media pendidikan untuk menilai akurasi konten, efektivitas pedagogis, dan kualitas teknis e-Textbook· Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa e-Textbook matematika interaktif yang dikembangkan merupakan alat pembelajaran yang valid dan efektif, dan dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam belajar.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has required every element of education, especially educators, to adapt, such as changing teaching methods from face-to-face (offline) learning to distance learning (online). Educators for all subjects, including English. Therefore, this community service program aims to contribute to the English Language Teachers' Association (MGMP) of State Senior High Schools and Vocational High Schools in Surabaya in the process of teaching English, particularly reading, during the COVID-19 pandemic by utilizing the Canvas Instructure platform through technical guidance for educators/teachers at State Senior High Schools and Vocational High Schools in Surabaya. The objectives of this technical guidance are: 1) to introduce the Canvas Instructure application platform as one of the Learning Management Systems (LMS) for teaching reading skills in English language classes; 2) to provide technical guidance to educators/teachers in developing English language teaching materials using the Canvas Instructure LMS learning platform; 3) to provide technical guidance to educators/teachers on practicing online learning using the Canvas Instructure LMS for the developed teaching materials; and 4) to monitor the implementation of Canvas Instructure in English language subjects, particularly reading skills, using the teaching materials developed by the school.

Abstract

The “Real Action” features within the PMM are designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. These features encourage teachers to engage in reflective practices, collaborative learning, and continuous professional development. This study employs a descriptive qualitative-methods research design to explore the implementation of “realaction” features in Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) aimed at enhancing English teachers’ pedagogical competence. The qualitative data from interviews and focus group discussions. The participants in this study were English teachers from various educational institutions across East Java, specifically those who are active users of the PMM platform. A total of 200 teachers were selected through a stratified random sampling technique to ensure representation from different areas, school types (public and private), and teaching experience levels. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of “real action” features in Merdeka Mengajar Platform has had a profound impact on enhancing English teachers’ pedagogical competence.
