Abstract

The availability of nutrients in the soil, whether in low, medium, or high conditions, is very vital. Knowing the chemical properties of the soil such as nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus is important because this is the basis for determining the type and dosage of the right fertilizer for sorghum plants. This study aims to identify primary soil macronutrients in the sorghum cultivation area in Patawang Village, Umalulu District, East Sumba Regency. The study was conducted from April to June 2024. The method used was a survey with a descriptive quantitative approach, using a purposive sampling method in the Sorghum development area. Soil samples were taken based on the position and area of the land, then analyzed in the laboratory for chemical properties such as N, P, K, and soil pH. The results of soil analysis from soil samples showed that the content of N nutrients ranged from 0.12-0.48% (low to moderate status), P ranged from 23.97-99.04 pmm (low to very high status), K ranged from 0.36-0.92 me/100g (moderate to very high status), and soil pH ranged from 6.90-7.97 H2O (neutral to slightly alkaline status). Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the Nitrogen element is lacking in the soil. Based on this study, it is recommended to consider adding Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium fertilizers through plant residues and animal waste, as well as using chemical fertilizers with appropriate doses to support the agriculture of the farming community in Patawang Village, Umalulu District.

Abstract

Locust pests are one of the most critical pests in almost every region of Indonesia. This pest phenomenon occurs because biological and environmental factors influence it. The significant use of chemical pesticides can cause environmental damage. One of the alternatives in controlling locust pests is using biopesticides Metharizium sp. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Metarhizium sp. biopesticides against locusts. The method used in the study was a complete randomized design (CRD), with four treatments, repeated four times to obtain 16 experimental units M0: Without biopesticide Metarhizium sp.; M1: biopesticide Metarhizium sp. 20 ml + 80 ml distilled water; M2: biopesticide Metarhizium sp. 40 ml + 60 ml distilled water; M3: biopesticide Metarhizium sp. 60 ml + 40 ml distilled water. The study results showed that Metarhizium biopesticide significantly affected mortality and feeding activity at a dose of 60 ml Metarhizium biopesticide liquid + 40 ml distilled water (M3). The observations on day three show that Metarhizium biopesticide can kill the locust pests by slowly beginning to paralyze the power of movement and the power of eating activity, causing the locust pests to experience death. Symptoms on the body of dead pests range from blackish, black hardened, and white spots. This shows that Metarhizium fungus with a dose of 60 ml is the most effective treatment in controlling locust pests.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the physical and chemical properties of soil on agricultural land in Wairara Village, Mahu sub-district, East Sumba district. The research was conducted in January-March of 2024. The methods used in this study were survey method and laboratory sample analysis. Determination of sampling locations was carried out by purposive sampling method (determination of samples is done intentionally by looking at land use in the research location). Sampling was conducted at a depth of 0-20 cm and in 12 different locations with 4 different land uses (rainfed rice fields, gardens, fields and shrubs). Research variables include soil pH, organic matter, cation exchange capacity (CEC), soil texture, permeability, and porosity. The results showed that soil texture included sandy loam, sandy clay loam, sandy clay and sandy clay. Permeability is in the category of moderate, fast, rather fast and very fast. Porosity includes areas with very porous porosity. pH at the research site is neutral, slightly alkaline and alkaline, while the category is moderate to very high. CEC values vary from 2.39-41.92 m.e./100g with low to very high categories.

Abstract

Penggunaan lahan yang beragam di suatu wilayah dapat mempengaruhi sifat fisik dan kimia tanah yang ada di daerah tersebut. Berbagai tipe penggunaan lahan seperti sawah tadah hujan, kebun, ladang, semak belukar serta padang memiliki dampak yang berbeda terhadap karakteristik tanah. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Laimeta Kecamatan Kambata Mapambuhang, Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Waktu pelaksanaan pada bulan Januari-Maret tahun 2024. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survey dan analisis sampel laboratorium. Penentuan lokasi pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive. Parameter penelitian meliputi pH tanah, Bahan organik, Kapasitas Tukar Kation (KTK), Tekstur Tanah, Permeabilitas, dan Porositas. Sampel tanah yang telah diambil di setiap titik dikering anginkan dan dianalisis di Laboratorium Terpadu Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana Sumba. Data hasil penelitian kemudian dideskripsikan hasil dan dipaparkan atau disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan grafik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sifat kimia tanah seperti nilai pH di lokasi penelitian dalam kategori Netral dengan kriteria bahan organik tanah mulai dari rendah, sedang tinggi sangat tinggi. Nilai kapasitas tukar kation (KTK) dalam kategori rendah hingga sangat tinggi. Sedangkan sifat fisika tanah seperti tekstur tanah memiliki kelas tekstur lempung berpasir dan liat berpasir. Permeabilitas termasuk dalam kriteria lambat dan cepat, sedangkan porositas tanah semua dalam kriteria sangat porous.

Abstract

Tanaman sawi merupakan tanaman yang paling digemari masyarakat serta kandungan yang kaya akan sumber gizi. Peningkatan produksi tanaman sawi dapat ditingkatkan dengan meningkatkan ketersediaan unsur hara dalam tanah melalui pemberian pupuk pupuk organilk cair. Pupuk yang di aplikasikan ada pupupk organic cair daun kirinyuh yang mempunyai kandungan unsur hara N,P DAN C- Organik. Hal ini dilakukan penggunaa aplikasi pupuk cair daun kirinyuh pengaruh pertumbuhan tanaman sawi. Penelitian di laksanakan pada bulan juni-juli 2024 di kelurahan prailiu, kecamatan kambera kabupaten sumba timur. Penelitian ini susun dengan mengunakan Rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri ats 6 perlakuan dosis POC (P) dengan 3 ulangan dan terdapat 18 unit tanaman sawi. Hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa pemberian POC dengan dosis berbeda tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman sawi, tetapi pemberian pupuk dengan dosis P4 memberikan nilai tertinggi pada tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun dan berat basah

Abstract

Mustard greens are the most popular plants in the community and are rich in nutritional sources. Increasing mustard greens production can be increased by increasing the availability of nutrients in the soil through the provision of bokashi fertilizer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bokashi fertilizer on the growth and yield of mustard greens. This research was conducted in a plastic house in Padadita, Prailiu Village, Kambera District, East Sumba Regency. This research was conducted from June - July 2024. This research was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments with 4 replications. So there are 20 experimental units. The treatments tested were: P0 (without fertilizer), P1 (5 tons of bokashi/ha), P2 (10 tons of bokashi fertilizer/ha), P3 (15 tons of bokashi fertilizer/ha), P4 (20 tons of bokashi fertilizer/ha). The observation variables in the study were plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, and wet weight. The data were analyzed statistically with the F Test, then a further test was carried out by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at a significant level of 5%. Based on the results of the study, it showed that the bokashi dose fertilizer made from sawdust, goat feces, gamal leaves and rice washing water had a significant effect on the height of mustard greens, the longest leaves were found in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of observation and the wet weight of mustard greens. The best treatment that gave an effect was P1 (5 tons / ha) with the highest value.

Abstract

Tanaman cabai yang dikenal dengan nama latin Capsicum frustescens L. Dalam peningkatan pertumbuhan tanaman cabai secara maksimal maka dilakukan pemberian pupuk kompos kotoran kambing. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan serta diulang sebesar 4 kali sehingga diperoleh 20unit percobaan. Setiap perlakuan di tanam di bedengan dengan ukuran 1x1 meter. Hasil analisis data penelitian berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman di minggu ke 4, 6 serta 8. Sedangkan di minggu 2 pengaruh pertumbuhan tumbuhan cabai tidak berpengaruh nyata. maka penelitian menunjukkan jumlah daun pertanaman pada minggu ke 6 dan 8. Sedangkan di minggu dua dan 4 dampak pupuk kompos kotoran kambing terhadap jumlah daun tumbuhan cabai tidak berpengaruh nyata. yang akan terjadi penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan jenis pupuk kompos kotoran kambing tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah buah pertanaman pada panen ke 1. Sedangkan pada pemanenan 2 dan 3 pemberian pupuk kompos kotoran kambing terhadap jumlah buah tumbuhan cabai berpengaruh nyata. akibat penelitian menunjukkan berpengaruh nyata terhadap bobot buah pertanaman pada pemanenan 1, 2, dan 3 berpengaruh nyata. Hasil penelitian berpengaruh nyata terhadap berat kering pertanaman di perlakuan ke 1, 2, 3, serta 4. Maka bisa disimpulkan bahwa hasil penelitian mengenai efek pemberian pupuk kompos kotoran kambing, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pupuk kompos kotoran kambing berpengaruh pada pertumbuhan di setiap perlakuan mulai dari tinggi hingga berat kering.

Abstract

Entomopathogen fungi are fungi that become pathogens in insects. This fungus lives, grows, and develops by taking nutrients from the host it is infected with so that the host is disrupted in its metabolism and will then die. This research aims to identify entomopathogen fungi from horticultural plants in Boentuka Village, Batu Putih District, South Central Timor. This research has been carried out from July to October 2022. Sampling of dead insects or infected with entomopathogenic fungi and soil was carried out in Boentuka Village while isolation and identification of entomopathogen fungi were carried out in the Microbiology laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Nusa Cendana. This research uses a purposive sampling method by taking samples based on observations of insects infected with entomopathogen fungi, which are then stored in sample bottles. In addition, soil samples from the site of the entomopathogen fungi attack were also taken and taken to the laboratory, with Tenebrio molitor larvae being used as bait to catch the entomopathogen fungi. The fungi that grew on the larvae and samples of the insects was then isolated and identified. The parameters of observation are the characteristics of isolates that grow macroscopically and microscopicly. The results of the research obtained four isolates of entomopathogen fungi Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Beauvaria bassiana, and Fusarium sp. In the future, this isolate will be tested for its ability as a biological agent for pest control in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract

The disabled community group that is part of the PAHDIS organization in Waingapu City faces obstacles in accessing formal education and skills training due to a lack of physical accessibility and inadequate support from educational institutions. This activity aims to improve skills to support economic independence and increase the empowerment of target partner communities through mentoring in implementing aquaponic fish and vegetable cultivation technology. The methods used in this PKM are socialization regarding what aquaponic technology is, training in making aquaponic technology, application of aquaponic technology, mentoring. The results of this service show that the members can understand aquaponic technology. In addition, members can also learn new lessons about aquaponic technology.   Keywords: aquaponics; disabled; skills; economic independence Abstrak: Kelompok masyarakat difabel yang tergabung dalam organisasi PAHDIS di Kota Waingapu menghadapi hambatan dalam mengakses pendidikan formal dan pelatihan keterampilan, baik karena kurangnya aksesibilitas fisik maupun kurangnya dukungan yang memadai dari institusi pendidikan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk untuk meningkatkan keterampilan untuk mendukung kemandirian ekonomi dan meningkatkan pemberdayaan komunitas mitra sasaran. Metode yang digunakan dalam pkm ini adalah sosialisasi terkait apa itu teknologi akuaponik, pelatihan pembuatan teknologi akuaponik, penerapan teknologi akuaponik, pendampingan. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa para anggota mampu memahami terkait teknologi akuaponik.
