Eventually, teachers have to prepare a good strategy to complete the student need of English in the class. Then, the school has HOTS as the strategy for the students. However, students are required to seek additional learning outside of school in order to enhance their learning in school. For this reason, Indonesian English course platform (Ruangguru) becomes the medium to optimize student’ HOTS. This quantitative research discussed 84 students of SMAN 1 Rejang Lebong. In obtaining the data, the eighty-four students of XII grade in academic year 2020/2021 were given a set of questionnaires to get the data whether Ruangguru can optimize students’ HOTS in learning English. The researcher collected the data, then determined the frequency and percentage of the students' responses. According to this study's findings, Indonesian English course platform (Ruangguru) can be a medium to optimize students’ HOTS beside learning English in the classroom. Based on three indicators that is provided by researcher, those are: Analyzing (71.83%), Evaluating (72.26%), and Creating (72.85%). Based on the result, Indonesian English course platform (Ruangguru) helps students to optimize students’ Higher Order Thinking in learning English

Abstract

Aedes aegypti is a mosquito species primarily known as the vector for dengue fever. The Hatching and development larval of Aedes agypti are crtical factors in mosquito control strategies and reducing dengue fever transmission. This study aims to investigate the effects of different water media on the hatching rate and development of Aedes aegypti from egg to adult stage. Three type of water from well water, treated tap water (PDAM) and staw soaked water were used in the experiment. The selection of water sources was based on their distinct physical and chemical properties, representing common environmental condition where Aedes aegypti may breed. Straw soak water was incorporated to simulate organic rich aquatic environments, often characterized by the presence of decomposing plant material. Such conditions are known provide a nutrient rich medium that facilitates mosquito egg hatching and larval development. Eggs were placed in each water type, and observations were carried out at hatching rate and larval development. The result revealed that the straw soaked water had the highest hatching rate 100% and the development time 6 days from egg to adult, well water show a hatching rate 67% with a longer development period of 7 days and no hatching and larval developmet in tap water (PDAM). This study shows that various types of water media affect the hatching success and developmental rates of Aedes aegypti. However, these effects are limited to the specific water types used in the experiment and should not be assumed to apply to all water quality conditions. Future research is recommended to explore other water quality parameters and their potential impact on the mosquito life cycle

Abstract

Purpose – The study explores the impact of AI-powered ChatBots on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students' writing skills, self-efficacy, and self-regulation. Given the rapid integration of digital tools in education, particularly in language learning, the research aims to fill a gap in understanding how ChatBot technology can enhance writing abilities, address psychosocial factors, and support self-regulated learning among EFL students. Design/Methods/Approach – A sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach was employed, involving 40 EFL students from IAIN Curup. Participants were divided into a control group (traditional writing instruction) and an experimental group (ChatBot-assisted instruction). Quantitative data on writing proficiency, self-efficacy, and self-regulation were collected through pre- and post-tests, followed by qualitative insights gathered through semi-structured interviews with the experimental group. Statistical analysis, including paired t-tests and ANCOVA, was used to assess differences between groups. Findings – The results revealed that students using ChatBots showed significant improvements in writing proficiency (post-test scores increased from 55.84 to 88.92), self-efficacy (from 20.46 to 30.38), and self-regulation (from 14.51 to 19.65). Interviews highlighted increased confidence, motivation, and engagement among students, though concerns about over-reliance on ChatBots and the risk of plagiarism were noted. Originality/Value – This research offers new insights into the use of AI-powered ChatBots in enhancing EFL students' writing skills, self-efficacy, and self-regulation. It addresses gaps in the literature by focusing on the psychosocial factors influencing writing performance and the potential benefits and drawbacks of AI integration in education. Practical Implications – The findings suggest that educators can use ChatBots to improve writing instruction, fostering autonomy and providing immediate feedback. However, strategies must be developed to avoid over-reliance on AI tools, ensuring students maintain creativity and critical thinking. Keywords AI-powered ChatBots, EFL writing, self-efficacy, self-regulation, language learning. Paper type Research paper

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the attitudes, perceptions of abilities, barriers, and expectations of IAIN Indonesia lecturers in the use of ICT in online English learning. The research method uses "explanatory sequential". The research sample was selected randomly and purposively. Questionnaires and interviews are used to collect the data. The quantitative data were analyzed by the SPSS program, while the interview findings were analyzed qualitatively. 80% of lecturers had positive views toward ICT use during class planning, according to the results (M = 4.2, SD = 0.7). They were thought to have a modest level of ICT proficiency, especially when it came to implementing lessons (M = 3.92, SD = 0.86). According to reports, there were few obstacles, mostly because of inadequate training and a lack of teaching facilities (M = 2.3, SD = 1.1). Expectations were high, particularly with regard to ongoing training and access to ICT infrastructure (M = 4.45, SD = 0.8). The results of this study in general, provide an overview of the attitudes and abilities that must be possessed by lecturers to minimize challenges in the hope of realizing the optimal use of ICT in online English learning.

Abstract

The goals of this study were to learn about students' perspectives on literature and blogs for teaching Islamic values to the millennial generation. This research was mixed-methods research. The subject of this study was the millennial generation at the Islamic State Institute Curup, especially students of the English Tadris Study Program. The instruments were questionnaires and interviews. This study included 30 students as participants. The findings of the poll reveal that most students have a favourable view of the use of the mind-mapping approach by utilising weblogs to improve Islamic writing. The implementation of the mind-mapping technique by using a weblog to improve Islamic writing makes students more active and interested in learning Islamic topics. Students also understand more about some Islamic topics that they read or upload to their web blogs. Students are interested in learning more about Islam by using this media. They read more topics about Islam and give their opinions about those in their Islamic literature web blog. It may be stated that a blog can be used as a form of social media and is effective and positive for teaching Islamic values to students.
