Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant difference in the students’ reading achievement after they were taught by using the Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy. A quasiexperimental design (non equivalent pre-test and post-test control design) was used in this study. Fifty six out of 145 seventh grade students of MTsN Lumpatan were purposively taken as the sample. There were 28 students in the experimental group and 28 students in the control group (N=56). The data was collected through reading test and analyzed by using t-test, multiple regression, and pearson product moment. The results showed the students who treated by using the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) strategy achieved a higher mean score of reading achievement (79.71) than the students who did not use the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) strategy. Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this research is aimed to know what are the most strategies and classroom management which are used by Preservice English Teacher at STAIN Curup in the academic year 2016/2017. The total of English Teacher was 7 teachers which as cooperating teacher of 17 preservice English Teacher. The types of english teaching strategies used by preservive English teacher were: (1) Task-Based Language Learning (100%) and (2) Cooperative Learning (100%); (3) Grapic Organizers (29%); (4) Technology (5.8%); (5) Roleplay (5.8%); (6) Storytelling (11.7%); (7) Vocabulary Building (11.7%); (8) Summarizing and Notetaking (5.8%); and (9) Analysis of Student Work (5.8%). The most strategies used by preservice english teacher (>50%) were Task-Based Language Learning and Cooperative Learning (100%). The types of classroom management used by preservive English teacher were: (1) Maintaning Discipline (58.5%), (2) giving feedback (100%), and classroom interaction (17.6%). Abstract

Abstract This paper showed the language learning method in teaching disabilities students with dyslexia problem. In this article the main focus is how to teach the dyslexia students in reading skill. Furthermore, in this study also explain the causes of dyslexia which are neurological and cognitive factor. Beside of that, the characteristics of children with dyslexia divided into two stages: early childhood (preschool or kindergarten, Grade 1-3, and Grade 4-8) and middle childhood with dyslexia (High school, college, and adult). And the last teacher has important role in teaching for the students with reading disabilities and difficulties (dyslexia). Teacher can guide the student in learning, give them an interesting activities by using good strategy. Keyword: Reading Skill, Dyslexia, and Language Learning.

Abstract

The main goal of this study was to investigate about lecturer’s role in teaching speaking for enhancing students’ communication ability. The researcher employed descriptive quantitative method which was to know the students’ perception on lecturers’ roles to achieve students’ communication ability. Then, the researcher chose three lecturers of speaking subject to know about students’ perception on lecturers’ roles in enhancing EFL learners’ communication ability as the purpose of teaching speaking skill. The result shows that the majority of students’ perception was in positive category when the lecturers play the various roles in assisting students to improve their communication ability. However, Lecturer “A” still need to be more maximize his role as need analyst and Lecturer “B” also need to consider his role as manager in teaching speaking, because both of lecturers got neutral perception. Thus, the lecturers’ role is crucial for improving students’ communication ability.

Abstract

This research is done by the researcher to investigate kinds of ICT used by English lecturers for non-English Study Program students at IAIN Curup and to investigate the roles of ICT for the English lecturer at IAIN Curup. This research used descriptive quantitative Because the questioner's results were evaluated and explained in the explanatory form.The questionnaire used as the instrument to collect the data. Questionnaire about the ICT used by the English lecturers for non-English Study Program students at IAIN Curup and the role of ICT for English Lecturer. Five processes is used to analyze the data from questionnaires in this research. They are (1) data managing of research result, (2) reading/memoing of result, (3) description of result; (4) classifying of research result and (5) interpreting of research result. The result showed that the lecturers always used three types of ICR in teaching English in the classroom, they were the speaker, educational games, and website resources. The reason for them using three types of ICT because it was easy to use and cheap. In using the ICT, the lecturers have a different opinion about About ICT's role in promoting its learning operations. The use of ICT in the teaching and learning system had 7 (seven) roles. It is about the role of ICT in motivating, attracting, and enhancing the success of learners in studying English.

Abstract

This paper showed the compliment responses in English made by 7th grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Sekayu. The sample of this study was five females and five males of the 7th grade students. From the seven categories of compliment responses, there were only six compliment responses in English made by students: acceptance, positive elaboration, neutral elaboration, denial, smiling, and no response. The result of this study showed that: 1) female had highest percentage in positive elaboration and smiling; 2) male had highest percentage in denial and no response; and 3) female and male had same percentage in acceptance and neutral elaboration response. There was no negative elaboration response used by students (female and male). Hence, it can be said that students gender hold important effect in giving compliment responses in English.

Abstract

Abstrak: Proses penuaan melibatkan akumulasi kerusakan sel somatik yang menyebabkan disfungsi sel dan organ, serta meningkatkan risiko kematian. Pelayanan sosial bagi lanjut usia harus mencakup pemenuhan kebutuhan biologis, psikologis, sosial, intelektual, dan spiritual. Meskipun pelayanan dalam bentuk panti atau institusi masih menjadi alternatif, keberadaan aktivitas yang sesuai dengan minat dan bakat lansia sangat penting untuk mengisi waktu luang mereka. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan program terapi yang dapat membangkitkan semangat dan kreativitas lanjut usia, serta mengurangi rasa putus asa. Sosialisasi ini dilakukan bertujuan agar kognitif lansia dapat meningkat. Objek sosialisasi ini adalah seluruh lansia yang ada di Panti Werdha Anugrah Tanjung Pinang dengan jumlah 10 orang dengan memggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, simulasi dan re demonstrasi. Materi disampaikan oleh tim pengabdi dari mahasiswa Profesi Ners dengan menyampaikan secara patofisiologis penyebab penurunan kognitif pada lannsia, kemudian selanjutnya kelompok melakun simulasi permainan dakon dan meminta lansia bermain dakon dengan sesamanya. Hasil dari sosialisasi tersebut sebanyak 80% lansia dapat berinteraksi dalam permainan dakon dan terlihat sangat bahagia. Sosialisasi ini mendapatkan apresiasi dari pengurus panti karena dapat menambah jeis aktifitas bermain yang dapat mereka terapkan di panti.Abstract: The aging process involves the accumulation of somatic cell damage which causes cell and organ dysfunction, and increases the risk of death. Social services for the elderly must cover biological, psychological, social, intellectual and spiritual needs. Even though the form of a home or institution is still an alternative, the existence of activities that suit the interests and talents of the elderly is very important to fill their free time in service. Therefore, a therapy program is needed that can awaken the enthusiasm and creativity of the elderly, as well as reduce feelings of hopelessness. This socialization is carried out with the aim of improving the cognitive abilities of the elderly. The object of this socialization is all the elderly at the Anugrah Tanjung Pinang Nursing Home, totaling 10 people, using lecture, discussion, simulation and recondensation methods. The material was delivered by a team of nurses from professional nursing students who explained the pathophysiological causes of cognitive decline in the elderly, then the group carried out a dakon game simulation and asked the elderly to play dakon with each other. As a result of this socialization, 80% of the elderly were able to interact in the dakon game and looked very happy. This socialization received appreciation from the orphanage administrators because it could add to the play activities that they could implement at the orphanage.

Abstract

As the compulsory subject at the senior high school, English is used for transferring and develop their knowledge, skill, and attitudes in the areas of science, technology, and art. English is crucial for the student in order to help them to understand the oral and written text in detail. Eventually, teachers have to prepare a good strategy to complete the student need of English in the class. Then, the school has HOTS as the strategy for the students. However, students are required to seek additional learning outside of school in order to enhance their learning in school. For this reason, Indonesian English course platform (Ruangguru) becomes the medium to optimize student’ HOTS. This quantitative research discussed 84 students of SMAN 1 Rejang Lebong. In obtaining the data, the eighty-four students of XII grade in academic year 2020/2021 were given a set of questionnaires to get the data whether Ruangguru can optimize students’ HOTS in learning English. The researcher collected the data, then determined the frequency and percentage of the students' responses. According to this study's findings, Indonesian English course platform (Ruangguru) can be a medium to optimize students’ HOTS beside learning English in the classroom. Based on three indicators that is provided by researcher, those are: Analyzing (71.83%), Evaluating (72.26%), and Creating (72.85%). Based on the result, Indonesian English course platform (Ruangguru) helps students to optimize students’ Higher Order Thinking in learning English

Abstract

Air Bang sub-district is one of the sub-districts in Rejang Lebong district, where the majority of people are Javanese. The Javanese tribe is a tribe that upholds existing traditions, one of which is the annual tradition of deceased people called the mendak tradition. This research aims to find out what values ​​of Islamic education are contained in the mendak tradition carried out by the Javanese community in the Air Bang sub-district. . Therefore, this needs to be studied to find out what values ​​of Islamic education are contained in the Mendak tradition through a series of Mendak traditional processions in the sub-district. The research approach used to study this matter is a qualitative approach and the type of research used is ethnography. Data in the form of words is taken from informants or respondents when they are interviewed, while additional data is in the form of documents. In the process of collecting data, researchers used three methods, namely the observation method, interview method and documentation method. Then the researcher used data analysis techniques through 3 three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification of conclusions. The results of research on the Values ​​of Islamic Education in the Mendak Tradition in Air Bang Village, Curup Tengah District, Rejang Lebong Regency show that first, in the procession of implementing the Mendak tradition in Air Bang Village there are several stages, namely: opening, host's remarks, yasin reading, reading. tahlil and prayer. Second, the values ​​of Islamic education in the Mendak tradition in the Air Bang sub-district, namely the moral values ​​towards Allah found in the recitation of yasin, tahlil and prayers, morals towards humans and fellow humans found in mutual help and mutual cooperation activities to prepare for the peak night of the Mendak tradition.
