Abstract

Gogo rice is one of the food crops that has the potential to be developed in national rice is becoming increasingly important, this is due to the decreasing rice field area, while the population growth rate is getting higher. Field experiments were carried out on the land of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of North Sumatra from May to August 2021. The aim is to determine the effect of mulch type on root volume, plant growth rate and net assimilation rate of gogo rice plants. The research method used was a Factorial Group Random Design with three different types of mulch as treatment, namely without mulch, black plastic mulch, Asystasia gangetica mulch, straw mulch. The varieties used are IPB8, IPB9 and Red Sigambiri. The treatment combination consists of 12 combinations in three repetitions. The results showed that mulch and varietal treatment had a real effect on root volume, while on plant growth rate and net assimilation rate had no real effect. Keywords: rice gogo, mulch, varieties

Abstract

Carrots are a superior agricultural product in Surbakti Village it self. With these conditions, Surbakti village has great potential in terms of agriculture, especially carrots. However, at this time the carrot farmers in Surbakti Village are faced with a problem, namely the productivity of carrots has not been maximized and the price of carrots is uncertain, it will affect the productivity and income obtained by farmers. This study aims to analyze the income of carrot farming. The research was conducted in August 2022. Data analysis used income analysis and R/C ratio analysis. The average income of carrot farming in Surbakti Village, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency is Rp. 14,996,308.4/ha/MT. The average total cost incurred in carrot farming activities is Rp. 11,439,494,68/ha/MT, and the average revenue for carrot farming is Rp. 26,435,803.5/ha/MT. This means that carrot farming in Surbakti Village, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency is still profitable because farmers' income can still cover the total costs incurred during the carrot farming production process. Abstract

Lingkungan berperan dalam proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan suatu tanaman, baik pada fase vegetative maupun generative. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lingkungan dataran tinggi terhadap pertumbuhan generatif padi gogo varietas Sigambiri Merah, khususnya pada umur berbunga, jumlah anakan produktif, dan hasil gabah berisi. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Tongkoh, Kecamatan Berastagi, Kabupaten Karo, yang berada pada ketinggian 375 meter di atas permukaan laut dengan curah hujan rata-rata 2.100–3.200 mm per tahun. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non-faktorial dengan empat perlakuan ketebalan mulsa jerami padi (0, 8, 10, dan 12 kg/plot) dan tiga ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan dataran tinggi dengan presipitasi harian hujan dan curah hujan yang tinggi menyebabkan keterlambatan umur berbunga (rataan 82–84 HST), serta menurunkan efisiensi fotosintesis. Perlakuan mulsa jerami 10 kg/plot memberikan umur berbunga terlama, sedangkan mulsa 8 kg/plot menghasilkan gabah berisi terbanyak (51,81 butir/sampel). Penggunaan mulsa jerami terbukti meningkatkan kondisi mikro tanah, ketersediaan hara, serta menekan dampak negatif lingkungan terhadap pertumbuhan generatif padi gogo. Dengan demikian, aplikasi mulsa jerami dapat menjadi strategi agronomis yang efektif dalam budidaya padi gogo di dataran tinggi
