Abstract

The majority of the people of Labuhan Ratu VI Village are engaged in rubber farming to meet their household needs. If there is a decrease in prices and a decrease in rubber production, it will affect income, income distribution and the level of household (HH) welfare, because the income received by each farmer varies. This allows the emergence of income inequality which is the beginning of poverty.  This research aims to analyze the farm, HHs’ income and distribution, in addition to the welfare of rubber farmer HH. The research is conducted by survey method at Labuhan Ratu VI village, Labuhan Ratu subdistrict, East Lampung regency in January to February 2023. The research samples in this study are 58 rubber farming HHs, obtained by simple random sampling method. The data is analyzed by measuring HHs’ income and distribution while HH’s welfare is analyzed based on BPS criteria, World Bank and BKKBN.  The research results showed that rubber farming income in Labuhan Ratu VI Village was profitable because the R/C value was >1. The largest HH income for rubber farmers came from rubber farming income. The distribution of rubber farmer HH income was relatively even and showed low inequality. The level of welfare of rubber farmer HHs was included in the non-poor category.

Abstract

High demand for cassava in domestic and international markets has raised concerns related to the long-term sustainability of cassava agribusiness. The multifaceted character of sustainability demonstrates the interconnected sustainability across multiple dimensions. This study aims to assess the sustainability index and condition of cassava agribusiness in Lampung Province across various dimensions (economic, sociocultural, technical and technological, institutional, and environmental) and to develop a strategy for cassava agribusiness sustainability to ensure food security. A total of 66 farmer respondents from the two villages were interviewed. Furthermore, FGDs were conducted with traders, local government officials, and factory responders. This research utilized the multi-aspect sustainability analysis (MSA) technique to assess the sustainability status across multiple dimensions. This research concluded that the sustainability status of cassava agribusiness in Lampung Province was less sustainable. This score pertained to economic, technical and technological, and institutional aspects. Meanwhile, social culture and environmental aspects stood in the sustainability category, demonstrating the susceptibility of cassava agribusiness to potential business instability. Cassava agribusiness in Lampung necessitated strategies primarily addressing economic, technical, and technological aspects, along with the establishment of efficient and appropriate institutions to enhance the sustainability of cassava agribusiness in Lampung Province and to ensure food security.

Abstract

Seagrass beds, particularly those found in Pulau Pahawang Village, serve as vital marine ecosystems that support diverse marine life. This study aims to investigate the composition and diversity of macrozoobenthos within these seagrass ecosystems. Seagrass and macrozoobenthic data were gathered through a 30 m line transect and 1m×1m. The samples were identified to the species or genus level, and the data were analyzed for composition and diversity using the Shannon-Wiener (H’), Dominance (C), and Evenness (E) indices. To assess the relationship between seagrass cover and macrozoobenthic density, a Pearson correlation test was performed. The seagrass species found is Enhalus acoroides. The macrozoobenthic community found in the seagrass ecosystem consists of 2 classes: 22 Gastropoda and 16 Bivalvia. The diversity index of macrozoobenthos (1.47-2.81) show moderate diversity, with high similarity (0.638–0.917), amd low dominance (0.059–0.265) indicates a balance community. The environmental conditions, including water temperature (30.8°C–31.8°C), salinity (30–31), and dissolved oxygen (5.8–6.8 mg/L), strongly support the growth of seagrasses and macrozoobenthos. This study emphasizes the importance of monitoring water quality and species diversity to ensure the sustainability of the seagrass ecosystem and other in Pulau Pahawang Village.   Keywords: Biodiversity, Enhalus acoroides,  Macrozoobenthos, Seagrass beds, Water quality.
