Abstract

Background: Nutrition counseling/education provided to pregnant women with Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) by nutritionists and midwives is not optimal due to the continued use of conventional methods. A technology-based information system is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for service delivery. Purpose: To analyze the effect of personalized nutritional recommendations for pregnant women with Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) based on a website. Method: The study design used a quasi-experimental nonequivalent pretest-posttest with a control group. A sample size of 30 participants was divided into two groups: 15 participants in the intervention group and 15 pregnant women in the control group. The intervention group received nutrition education through a website application, while the control group received education through flyers. The study instruments included a knowledge questionnaire and a 24-hour food recall to measure energy intake. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Personalized nutritional recommendations through a website application significantly influenced the knowledge level of pregnant women with CED, with an α value of 0.0001 (< 0.05). The use of website applications has been proven to be more effective in improving nutritional understanding and energy consumption patterns of pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (CED) compared to conventional print media. Conclusion: Website-based digital educational media can be a strategic alternative in promoting nutritional health for pregnant women to reduce the risk of CED and prevent stunting during pregnancy.   Keywords: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED); Nutritional Needs; Pregnant Women; Website Media.
