Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to explore the integration of Islamic educational values in the practice of the Hajj pilgrimage, focusing on the researcher's own spiritual experience directly in the implementation of the Hajj in 1444H/2023M. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through participatory observation and literature study. The study subjects were Hajj pilgrims from Kloter 1 KNO Embarkation Medan from Mandailing Natal Regency. The results of the survey indicate that Islamic educational values, such as sincere intentions, piety, patience, and Islamic brotherhood, play a vital role and influence on pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage. In addition, it was found that implementing the Hajj pilgrimage is a means of education for pilgrims to obtain these educational values to be applied in their post-Hajj life. This is supported by several factors: experienced Hajj guides and a conducive social environment, which contribute to the success of the integration of Islamic educational values in the practice of the Hajj pilgrimage. Overall, this study confirms the importance of Islamic education in preparing Hajj pilgrims to undergo a more meaningful and spiritually conscious pilgrimage. The Hajj pilgrimage is a ritual and a means of education to obtain educational values in life for humans in general. Keywords: Islamic Education; Hajj; Spiritual Experience.

Data sources are obtained from written works such as books, articles, etc. Then, the data analysis technique in this research emphasizes the process of comparative inference and analysis of the dynamics of observed phenomena using scientific logic. The research results show that curriculum implementation and management are very important elements for MDTA educational institutions. Researchers agree with several previous research findings, which state that MDTA management includes a curriculum development management process carried out through the stages of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. Furthermore, implementing the curriculum at MDTA is a strategy for achieving the institution's vision, mission, and goals. The curriculum review at MDTA consists of three stages. However, to maintain the existence of MDTA, curriculum uniformity and strengthening aspects of mastering more Islamic sciences are needed. At the same time, more modern MDTA governance or management and complete facilities are needed.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is known for its rich local wisdom, including in Islamic education practices. However, the tide of modernization has eroded some of these values. In fact, local wisdom has unique characteristics that can be preserved to strengthen the Islamic values of students. This study analyzes the role of the Majelis Taklim Keluarga Sakinah as a non-formal educational institution in improving the quality of family life, particularly in spiritual, social, and economic aspects. This study uses a qualitative research method based on case studies, with a focus on the various Islamic education programs implemented by the Sakinah Family Majelis Taklim. The results reveal that participation in Majelis Taklim activities has a positive impact on understanding Islamic values, strengthening family harmony, and increasing social awareness. Additionally, it contributes to improving economic well-being and providing social security for its members. The implications of this study indicate that the Majelis Taklim serves as a non-formal educational institution and a social transformation agent in building harmonious families. These findings support Jack Mezirow's theory of transformative learning, which emphasizes the importance of critical reflection in changing individual perspectives. Support from various stakeholders is needed to strengthen the role of the Majelis Taklim in improving the quality of life for Muslim families.

Abstract

This study delves into the lived experiences of students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Mandailing Natal to explore the internalization of discipline, independence, and simplicity. While pesantren are crucial for cultivating Islamic values, they face growing pressures from modernization and the erosion of local traditions. Employing a hermeneutic phenomenological approach, which emphasizes the interpretation of lived experiences to uncover deeper layers of meaning beyond descriptive accounts, this study seeks to understand not only what students experience but also how they make sense of those experiences within their cultural and spiritual contexts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. eyond these credibility strategies, the interpretative process followed three interrelated steps characteristic of hermeneutic phenomenology and IPA: reduction, thematization, and reflective interpretation of meaning. The findings demonstrate that character formation is a process of continuous habituation and integration with local wisdom. Discipline is cultivated through structured daily routines, independence is fostered by self-reliance, and simplicity emerges from communal living and a unique senior-junior mentoring system. This study argues that the pesantren system, through its reliance on practical engagement and local cultural practices, provides a powerful counter-narrative to the depersonalizing effects of globalization, shaping students' moral and spiritual resilience. The results offer specific insights for educators and policymakers on strengthening a form of character education that is both culturally rooted and contextually relevant for Indonesian students.

Abstract

Dalian na tolu, a typical Mandailing culture, teaches the values of affection (holong) and togetherness (domu) which play an important role in building the religious character of the younger generation. This research aims to understand how these values in the interaction of dalian na tolu build religious character through family and society. With a qualitative descriptive method, data is collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically. The results of the study show that the values of holong and domu are applied in social relations between mora, kahanggi, and anakboru through the example of parents and the community. These examples include respect for mora, affection for anakboru, and friendship with kahanggi, all of which support the building of religious character based on local culture.

Abstract

The command to teach prayer is actually a philosophy that is very meaningful, because it is from prayer that all goodness starts. The punch in question is tarbiyah (education), not a blow that is dangerous because ofemotional. Considering the importance of strengthening the foundations of Islamic creed and mental formation of morality for children, on the other hand the enormous challenges of the effects of globalization of technology and information are very massive, so there is no other choice that the revitalization of religious education must be echoed. This calls for the participation of all education holders, especially the local government and non-formal figures in the community because without the support of all lines, the big goal could not be realized. Mandailing Christmas is not only enough to have the jargon of the City of Santri, the foyer of the mecca of Sumatra etc. without making anticipatory efforts of the dangers of Drugs etc. that are in sight.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the collaboration between three key social institutions the Neighborhood Chief, the Tolong Menolong Union (STM), and the Mosque Prosperity Board (BKM)—in shaping youth character in Neighborhood VIII, Panyabungan City. The main objective is to understand how institutional synergy fosters moral awareness, social responsibility, and helps prevent juvenile delinquency through community-based approaches. Using a qualitative approach and a case study method. The research data for this study comes from collaborative activities between three main social institutions: the Head of the Neighborhood Association (RT), the Mutual Aid Association (STM), and the Osque Prosperity Body (BKM)—in shaping the character of adolescents. Primary data sources include field interviews and observations, while secondary data consist of institutional records and relevant literature. Data collection used triangulation, combining interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis followed the interactive model by Miles and Huberman: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings show that active communication, deliberation, and religious activities such as recitations, mutual cooperation, and youth discussions are effective strategies in instilling positive values. Direct involvement of community leaders strengthens social ties and reduces immoral behavior and crime among youth. The study concludes that this collaborative model functions not only as social supervision but also as a key instrument for community-based character education.
