Abstract

This paper tries to construct the role of the codified SÅ«rahYāsÄ«n and TaḥlÄ«l texts in Indonesia. The present paper also attempts to investigate the sequential aspects of the transmission of sÅ«rahYāsÄ«n from the single sÅ«rah until it is compiled with taḥlÄ«l texts and become widely used among traditionalist Muslims in Indonesia. The paper provides the faḍā’il al-a‘māl based on some muslim scholars. Some important questions will be dealt here, namely: why does sÅ«rah YāsÄ«n has a special position? How was sÅ«rahYāsÄ«n and taḥlÄ«l texts compiled in Indonesia? In this paper, I argue that the sÅ«rahYāsÄ«n compiled with taḥlÄ«l texts is sort of textual forms which preserve the traditional Islamic thought and practices in Indonesia. Abstract

Abstract: This mini research describes the concept of education quality assurance in madrasa and Quality Function Deployment method in viewing assessment, needs, and expectation of students in MAN Yogyakarta 1 referring to eight National Education Standards. Research method uses quantitative approach, that is by calculating data assessment, needs, and expectation of students based on House of Quality matrix and calculating results of students’ statistical appraisal toward eight education standards by using software application SPSS version 22 in discerning students’ satisfaction toward education process are being run in madrasa. The results show that assessment aspects, needs, and expectation of students based on calculation of House of Quality matrix are the desire to obtain the worship stuff facility in the form of mukena and its place in the mosque, the availability of fan or air conditioner in each class, refinement and addition of sports field, equipments in the laboratory in the form of a computer. Whereas for education standards of content and process in madrasa, majority of students expect learning methods can be further developed with more interesting methods that are not boring for students. In addition, the calculation results through SPSS show the total number of students who become respondents as many as 57 students. Of the total, 39 students gave good or high appraisal toward education process with the percentage of 68,4%, and the rest 18 students gave less good or low rating with the percentage of 31,6%. Based on class, class XII grade with the number of 33 respondents, 23 of them gave good appraisal of 69,7% and the remaining 10 students gave poor appraisal of 30,3%. While class XI grade with the number of 24 respondents, 16 of them gave good appraisal of 66,7%, and the remaining 8 students gave less good or low appraisal of 33,3%. Abstract

Mathematics materials in elementary schools generally contain all basic knowledge about mathematics lessons at the school level. Counting operations are the initial concepts of mathematics that must be instilled in students. Division is one of the four main arithmetic operations whose concepts must be mastered by students as a way to maximize mathematical literacy skills at a further level. This study aims to produce a prototype 1 teaching material on multiplication material for grade II elementary school students who are taught thematically. Teaching materials are arranged using the theme of the city of Palembang which is close to the lives of students. This research is an early stage of development research. The research subjects were students of class II MI Hijriah II Palembang. The process of developing teaching materials is the preliminary stage, and the prototyping stage. Teaching materials are developed at the preliminary stage, namely the preparation of concepts that have not been mastered by students, planning on the basis of concepts that are still not mastered by students, determining competency standards, basic competencies, indicators, syllabus, lesson plans, determining the elements of teaching materials, collecting materials, compiling draft materials teach, test one to one and expert review. From the design of this prototype, the first prototype of teaching materials for integer arithmetic operations was produced for class II Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the ability to understand concepts of students who receive mathematics learning using the guided discovery method at SMA Negeri 14 Palembang is greater than the KKM score. The research methodology used is a quasi-experimental method with a one-shot case study design. Class X.2, which consisted of 40 students, was selected as the sample in this study. While the technique in data collection is a written test in the form of an essay. The test questions used in this study refer to indicators that have been set, namely indicators of problem solving abilities. The data analysis technique used t-test. Based on the results of the analysis of the test data, it was obtained that tcount = 2.196 and ttable = 1.683, so it can be concluded that the concept understanding ability of students who received mathematics learning using the guided discovery method at SMA Negeri 14 Palembang was greater than the KKM score

Abstract

Geothermal is one of the new renewable energy, which is more environmentally friendly than the existing fossil energy and has great potential to become an alternative source of energy in the future. However, the level of social acceptance of geothermal power plants operating in forest areas has not been widely studied. This study aims to reveal the social acceptance of affected residents toward the exploration of Baturaden geothermal power plant, operating in the protection forest area of Mount Slamet. The survey was conducted online  to indirectly affected residents living mostly in Banyumas urban areas, while the offline face-to-face survey was administered to the directly affected residents in Sambirata and Karang Tengah villages. A total of 286 samples were analyzed. It was found that the majority of respondents preferred not to continue the establishment of the geothermal power plant, but both rural and urban dwellers have distinctive responses and reasonings. The rural tended to have stronger rejection compared to the urban residents. The acceptance of the project in both groups combined was motivated mainly by the prospect of electricity from more environmentally friendly energy sources and compliance to government policy. Those who refused tend to see from the negative impacts on the disruptions of the daily livelihood in rural areas and environmental damages. Three attitude factors significantly affect the continuation of drilling operation of GPP, namely: economic prospects of geothermal utilization in protection forests, technological optimism to migate the engative impacts, and perceived environmental concerns. To increase the social acceptance, it is suggested that policy makers and energy industry players should integrate the mitigation measures by using more proper technology within the project budget and act harmoniously to increase public awareness of the use of renewable and cleaner energy as well as pay attention to the health, welfare and culture of the local community
Negotiating Islam: A Study on the Debus Fatwa of the Indonesian Council of Ulama in Banten Rohman, Rohman

Abstract

Unlike most works which study and focus on discussing fatwa (religious edicts) produced by the Indonesian Council of Ulama (Majelis Ulama Indonesia, MUI) at the central level, I focus on one of the fatwas produced by MUI at the regional level. In this article, I examine a fatwa on debus (a traditional martial arts performance that is imbued with supernatural powers) issued by the provincial MUI branch in Banten during a regional meeting involving all MUI branches from Java and Lampung, held in August 2009 in Serang City, Banten. Based on the data collected from key informants and internet research, including contemporary analysis, I argue that although fatwas are non-binding, a fatwa can also be negotiated based on the political, social, and cultural circumstances of a region. In other words, the power and influence of religious authority can be mitigated when it collides with the interests of a powerful group in a society. I also argue that MUI branches at the regional level are closely linked to the national MUI office’s policies and interests in upholding Islamic conservatism in Indonesia. This article provides further analysis dealing with religious authority in the Indonesian context, highlighting once again that this authority is never monolithic or absolute.
