Abstract

The availability of internet bandwidth management on the UISU campus is considered necessary for further design, because the available bandwidth management has a simple concept and the use of bandwidth is deemed to be more efficient. Some of the impacts are that the distribution of bandwidth is not more structured (each client does not have a definite bandwidth guarantee when the number of bandwidth users/traffic is dense, fellow internet users overlap each other resulting in a tendency to gain more bandwidth on certain clients only (not equally), pattern filtering data such as streaming traffic or certain websites are easy to access, resulting in no opportunity to save bandwidth usage. The solutions for some of these indications have been carried out by previous researchers but are not efficient enough if applied to large campus networks such as UISU. Therefore this research will develop using a combination of methods, namely Queue Tree by utilizing traffic priority, Commited Information Rate/Maximum Information Rate and the FL7 method to define certain data patterns in the text url so that the use of bandwidth availability is more efficient. using the average value parameter (avg rate) using a mikrotik OS router and packet ICMP parameters using throughput, delay, jitter and packet loss. Abstract

Meningkatnya penggunaan teknologi dalam aktivitas sehari-hari telah mendorong berkembangnya berbagai aplikasi yang bertujuan untuk mempersingkat dan men otomatisasi proses tertentu. Salah satu aplikasi tersebut adalah sistem absensi online untuk institusi akademik. Skripsi ini mengusulkan pengembangan sistem absensi online yang memanfaatkan algoritma sequential searching untuk memudahkan proses pencatatan dan pengelolaan data absensi. Sistem yang diusulkan bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah umum yang dihadapi dalam pencatatan kehadiran manual, seperti kesalahan dalam entri data dan catatan yang hilang. Dengan algoritma pencarian sekuensial, sistem dapat dengan cepat mencari dan mengambil data, membuat proses pencatatan kehadiran dan pengelolaan menjadi lebih efisien. Pengembangan sistem akan melibatkan penggunaan berbagai hal seperti Xampp, HTML, PHP, Basis data, MySQL dan SQL. Sistem yang diusulkan juga akan menampilkan antarmuka yang ramah pengguna untuk memastikan kemudahan penggunaan dan aksesibilitas bagi pengguna. Secara keseluruhan, sistem kehadiran online yang diusulkan menawarkan cara yang lebih efisien dan andal dalam mengelola data kehadiran, yang dapat menghasilkan kinerja yang lebih baik dan proses kelembagaan pendidikan yang lebih baik.

Abstract

This system is designed to improve the efficiency of the attendance process through the use of information technology. The system allows students to register for attendance online through an android-based mobile application. Implementation involves developing an application with registration and attendance recording features, as well as student data management. Evaluation involves user feedback to improve performance and functionality. The support of PT PLN (Persero) is very important in the implementation of this system. The hope is that this online attendance system can improve the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of the attendance process for practical work students at PT PLN (Persero) and provide guidance for other organizations in utilizing information technology.

Abstract

Keamanan data merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam menjaga kerahasiaan informasi terutama yang berisi informasi sensitif yang hanya boleh diketahui isinya oleh pihak yang berhak saja, apalagi jika pengirimannya dilakukan melalui jaringan publik, apabila data tersebut tidak diamankan terlebih dahulu, akan sangat mudah disadap dan diketahui isi informasinya oleh pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab. Oleh karena itu peneliti akan menerapkan algoritma ElGamal dan XOR untuk dapat memberikan keamanan data pada text. Algoritma XOR algoritma sederhana yang menggunakan prinsip logika. Sedangkan Algoritma ElGamal menitik beratkan kekuatan kuncinya pada pemecahan masalah logaritma diskrit. Dengan memanfaatkan bilangan prima yang besar serta masalah logaritma diskrit yang cukup menyulitkan. pesan teks memiliki keamanan yang berlapis karena memiliki banyak kunci dengan menggabungkan algoritma ElGamal dan XOR.

Abstract

KKNT is an academic activity of higher education which is manifested through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education and teaching, research, and community service. As in the previous year, for 2023 the UISU Faculty of Engineering dispatched 159 semester VII students to carry out KKNT activities in 13 villages (out of 19 villages/wards) in Kecamatan Air Putih, Kabupaten Batu Bara. This activity lasted for 29 days from July 26 2023 to August 23 2023. The 2023 USU Faculty of Engineering KKNT carries the theme "Utilization of Sustainable Technological Innovation in Building Civilized Villages". Based on the monitoring and evaluation carried out by the KKNT Organizing Team and UISU Faculty of Engineering Leaders, the implementation of the KKNT for 29 days in 13 villages in Kecamatan Air Putih, was generally carried out well and according to plan. This was also confirmed from the remarks of the Camat  Air Putih during the pick-up event for KKNT participants which was held on Tuesday 22 August 2023. The sub-district head said that the presence of students based on information and confirmation from the head and village officials during the implementation of the KKNT was very positive. The presence of students has contributed and added value to the community, business activities (UMKM) and officials in each village. During the implementation of this KKNT, 13 main activities have been made as community service activities, which will be further developed and used for various student activities.

Abstract

A laptop is a portable computing device that is widely relied upon because of the mobility it offers, particularly for users who spend much of their time outside a fixed office. Frequent and intensive use, however, raises the risk of damage to both hardware and supporting components. At present, the diagnosis of laptop damage is still largely performed manually by technicians based on experience, a practice that is prone to misdiagnosis and tends to take a relatively long time. This research therefore aims to implement the C4.5 Decision Tree algorithm to analyze and diagnose laptop damage based on the symptoms that appear. The data used in this study consist of laptop service history records comprising several damage-symptom attributes, such as whether the laptop powers on, the condition of the screen display, the charging indicator, fan noise, and overheating condition. The C4.5 algorithm was used to build a decision tree by calculating entropy, information gain, and gain ratio values in order to determine the best attribute for the classification process. Calculations on the training data produced a total entropy value of 2.75, with Attribute 1 (the laptop turning off immediately when the charger is unplugged) and Attribute 3 (a BSOD with a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT code) sharing the highest information gain of 0.81125, making either eligible to serve as the root node; this research adopted Attribute 1 as the root. The resulting decision tree was then implemented into a web-based diagnostic application built with PHP and MySQL, and black box testing confirmed that the login, data management, C4.5 modeling, and damage-classification features all functioned as expected. The system is expected to help technicians and customers at Mitra Kreasi Computer Medan obtain faster, more structured, and more objective damage diagnoses.

Abstract

The growing reliance on digital video across education, entertainment, communication, and security applications has made video one of the most widely used forms of multimedia data, yet this growth has also exposed video files to risks such as unauthorized access, data theft, content manipulation, and misuse of digital information. This study addresses these risks by implementing the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) algorithm as a signal-processing-based method for securing video files. DWT decomposes each video frame from the time domain into the frequency domain, producing a visual representation that is difficult to recognize, while the Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transform (IDWT) reconstructs the video back to a form approximating the original. A security key was applied to the wavelet coefficients to prevent reconstruction without proper authorization. The system was built in Python using OpenCV for video processing, PyWavelets for the DWT/IDWT operations, NumPy for numerical computation, and CustomTkinter for the desktop interface, following a Research and Development approach with a Waterfall development model. Black box testing confirmed that the encryption and decryption functions operated correctly across the tested video files, and quality evaluation using Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Squared Error (MSE), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), and entropy showed that the encrypted videos exhibited substantial visual distortion relative to the originals, with PSNR values around 10–11 dB, MSE values in the range of roughly 5,100–5,700, and an entropy of approximately 7.37, indicating that the visual structure of the video content was concealed effectively. These findings suggest that DWT can serve as a practical signal-transformation-based approach to video data security, although its protection level remains below that of dedicated cryptographic algorithms such as AES or RSA, leaving room for future work that combines DWT with stronger cryptographic techniques.

Abstract

Video is one of the multimedia data formats whose use continues to grow across fields such as education, entertainment, and digital communication, a trend that has increased the demand for storage capacity and bandwidth. A video is composed of a large collection of frames containing substantial amounts of pixel data, which results in comparatively large file sizes. This condition calls for a compression method capable of reducing file size without significantly degrading visual quality. This study implements the Discrete Sine Transform (DST) algorithm in the video file compression process and analyzes its effect on file size and video quality. DST is applied to transform data from the spatial domain into the frequency domain so that data redundancy can be reduced while important information is retained. The compression procedure divides each video into a series of frames and applies the DST transformation to optimize data efficiency. Testing was carried out on video files in MP4 and AVI formats, with compressed video quality evaluated using the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) parameter and compression efficiency measured by comparing file sizes before and after compression. The results show that the DST method is able to reduce video file size while maintaining visual quality. The AVI format achieved an average compression efficiency of 44.96%, while the MP4 format achieved 28.76%. In addition, the PSNR values for all tested videos remained above 37 dB, indicating that the compressed video quality can still be classified as good.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a web-based major prediction system by applying a linear regression algorithm to enhance transparency and accuracy in the selection process. The system predicts 14 available majors at SMK N 1 Percut Sei Tuan, including: Civil Construction and Housing Engineering, Modeling and Building Information Design, Geomatics Engineering, Electrical Installation Engineering, Electrical Power Network Engineering, Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering, Audio Video Engineering, Machining Engineering, Welding Engineering, Light Vehicle Engineering, Motorcycle Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer and Network Engineering, and Television Production and Broadcasting. The system uses report card scores from the 5th and 6th semesters of junior high school as predictor variables, including Bahasa Indonesia, Mathematics, Science, and English. The system development method includes data collection through observation, literature study, and interviews, as well as system design using PHP, HTML, JavaScript, MySQL database, and XAMPP. System modeling was carried out using UML (Unified Modeling Language), which includes use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams. The linear regression algorithm is implemented by calculating subject averages, regression coefficients, and intercepts to predict student acceptance. The results of the study, based on five student data samples, show that M. Dafi and Ahmad Suhendra were not eligible for any major. Adellya Saputri and Alfit Septian were accepted into one major, Television Production and Broadcasting. Meanwhile, Ummi qualified for five majors: Modeling and Building Information Design, Audio Video Engineering, Welding Engineering, Light Vehicle Engineering, and Television Production and Broadcasting.

Abstract

This study aims to design a decision support system to determine the best concrete quality using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) algorithm. Concrete is the primary material in construction, possessing various mechanical properties and characteristics that define its quality. At the Concrete Laboratory of Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara (UISU), the determination of concrete quality is still conducted manually, relying on subjective experience, which can lead to inconsistencies in assessment. Therefore, developing a system based on the SAW algorithm is necessary to enhance efficiency and objectivity in selecting the best concrete. The research process begins with data collection on concrete samples, covering parameters such as compressive strength, water volume, setting time, cement content, and aggregate quantity. Each criterion is assigned a weight based on its importance, followed by normalization to align scale values. The SAW algorithm is then applied to calculate the final preference values for each concrete sample, ultimately generating a recommendation for selecting the highest-quality concrete. The study results show that Concrete C achieves the highest final score (0.94706), followed by Concrete A (0.88328) and Concrete B (0.76292). The study concludes that the SAW algorithm effectively enhances objectivity and accuracy in determining the best concrete quality.
