Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the concept understanding of twodimentionalfigure by using Media Realiaof the student in Grade IIIB of state Primary Schoolof Bratan 1 in Academic Year 2016/2017.This research used the classroom action researchwith two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely:planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were the students as many 34 studentsin Grade IIIB of the school. Data analysis techniques that use data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and withdrawal of conclusions. Data validity using technique triangulationand source triangulation. The results showed that by using Media Realia can improve theunderstanding of two-dimentional figure on IIIB students SD Negeri Bratan 1 academic year2016/2017. Before using Media Realia is seen, the students who reach the KKM consist ofonly 11 students or 32,35% in pre-action data. In the first cycle by using Media Realia studentsmastery increased to 67,65%. In the second cycle by using Media Realia students mastery roseto 85,3%. From the results of my research can be concluded that by using Media Realiacanimprove understanding of two-dimentional figure state in the students of grade IIIB SD NegeriBratan 1 academic year 2016/2017.

Abstract

In the realm of BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing) learning, learners grapple with a myriad of challenges, chief among them being the linguistic disparities between their native language (L1) and the target language (L2) they are striving to acquire. Mandarin Chinese, in particular, presents a unique challenge due to its partial incorporation of the /r/ sound, albeit to a lesser extent compared to Indonesian, and its distinct articulation, which varies markedly from other languages. Moreover, the pronunciation of this sound can differ among various Chinese dialects, adding an additional layer of complexity for Chinese learners of Indonesian. This study pursues three primary objectives: (1) the identification of sound changes in the /r/ sound; (2) the classification of the various types of sound changes affecting the /r/ sound; and (3) the identification of common sound changes associated with the /r/ sound within this specific learner group. To achieve these aims, a quantitative descriptive analysis methodology was employed. The research data were collected through voice recordings of 16 students enrolled in the fifth semester of the undergraduate program in Indonesian Studies at Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages, China. The results of the study unveiled a spectrum of phonetic proficiency levels and challenges among the participants. Notably, 75% of respondents demonstrated accurate pronunciation of the /r/ sound, showcasing a high level of proficiency in this aspect of their language acquisition. However, 15% exhibited a tendency to replace the sound with /l/, highlighting a specific area that requires targeted pedagogical interventions. Additionally, 5% grappled with zeroization, completely omitting this sound, underscoring the necessity for focused language instruction. In only 1% of instances, respondents produced words that were unidentifiable due to potential omissions, necessitating further investigation. Further research is strongly encouraged to explore the effectiveness of customized phonetic training programs and their correlation with learners' linguistic backgrounds in shaping pronunciation proficiency among Chinese students studying Indonesian.

Abstract

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a popular poem written by Robert Frost in the 20th century, which reflected the social aspects of human existence. The researchers used the library research to analyze the figurative languages, the hidden meaning, and their correlation in poetry. The authors considered the hidden meanings in the poetry studied, namely that people should not be lulled by the promise or beauty of the surrounding environment; instead, they must complete their tasks before their lives end. The hidden meaning could be seen in the following stanzas: the stanza 1 depicted somebody stopping in a snowy forest, the stanza 2 revealed the small horse questioning a stop in a forest far from the farmhouse, the stanza 3 described the small horse shaking its harness bell as a warning, and the stanza 4 showed the speaker's determination to continue his journey and fulfill his duties before the end of his life. The correlation between the hidden meaning of "the long journey of a human life" and the figurative language in the last two lines of the fourth stanza, an "allegory" that reads " and miles to go before I sleep " outlined the idea of a lifelong journey to complete one's task before the rest eternal.

Abstract

HelloTalk is a popular social media platform where users from diverse linguistic backgrounds converge to communicate and improve their second language (L2) skills. This study focuses on grammatical errors made by users on the HelloTalk app during English interactions. Employing the observation method. Employing a qualitative approach, the study conducted a comprehensive analysis of 357 instances across 280 posts, showcasing a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by users in their language learning journey. The identified strategies for addressing these errors encompasses several ways such as providing corrective feedback (CF), categorizing errors, utilizing language learning apps for English, and implementing a systematic approach to monitoring and tracking progress. The study's findings provided valuable insights for educators, language learners, and app developers, offering a basis for targeted interventions. Additionally, future research may explore integrating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and natural language processing to enhance error correction efficiency and personalized feedback on language learning platforms.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the tahlilan tradition in Islamic education in Suka Jaya Village. Tahlilan, a local religious ritual for praying for the deceased, holds significant informal educational value for the community. The research shows that through tahlilan activities, the community, particularly the younger generation, learns Islamic teachings such as tauhid (the oneness of God), aqidah (faith), and akhlaq (ethics). In addition to serving as an educational medium, tahlilan also strengthens social bonds and solidarity among the village residents. This tradition reflects a form of acculturation between Islamic teachings and local culture, which has long developed in the archipelago. Despite facing challenges from groups opposing this practice, the majority of Suka Jaya residents continue to uphold tahlilan as part of their religious and social identity. The findings of this research affirm that tahlilan is not only a spiritual ritual but also plays significant social, moral, and educational roles in shaping the Islamic character of the community.
