Abstract

Humans need a language a means of their communication. They use language to communicate with others to gain some purposes in their lives. In their interaction, in a certain condition, they use some swear words to express their feelings. This paper aims to describe the form of swearing words and their references in Javanese Language as the study of shifting and changing of meaning. This research used descriptive qualitative method based on the library and field data. The data are classified and analysed qualitatively. The results of this research are swearing words can be classified into different forms. Regarding to their references, the swearing words mainly refer to animals, bad condition, fruits, parts of body, kinship, sexual activity and ghosts. Most of them are going into shifting and changing of meaning. Some categories have the shifting of meaning, and others have the changing one.

Abstract

This study investigates the analysis of speech level found in Maduranese language in accordance with the study of sociolinguistics. The speech level highly correlates with language variety which becomes one of the issues in sociolinguistics study. The researcher also tried to find out the influencing factors of Maduranese speech level and language variety in it. Hence, this research belongs to qualitative research which applied descriptive qualitative method. The method of collecting data was document/literature review through particular documents that have relation with the analysis of this research. To enhance the result of analysis, the researcher also conducted interview with the native speakers of Maduranese language. The finding of this research revealed that language variety occurs in the speech level of Maduranese language. Further, there are three speech levels in Madura which has similar type with the speech level in Java such as ngoko, krama madya and krama inggil. This kind of variations are caused by its use among different social classes or status among the society.

Abstract

Implementation of Cerry Lalaland Method in Distance Learning ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan langkah-langkah implementasi Cerry Lalaland sebagai metode alternatif pembelajaran sastra anak dan mengetahui sikap responden terhadap metode tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Analisis data menggunakan skala likert. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Cerry Lalaland dilakukan dengan pengumpulan nursery rhymes dan lagu dolanan Jawa, menganalisis nilai moral, sejarahnya, pembuatan web, implementasi dalam pembelajaran dan pengisian kuesioner. Hasil uji menggunakan skala likert menunjukkan bahwa metode Cerry Lalaland ini berada dalam kategori “Baik” dengan indeks prosentase 68,6%. Dengan demikian, simpulannya adalah bahwa metode cerry lalaland ini baik untuk diimplementasikan pada  pembelajaran sastra anak dalam pembelajaran jarak jauh.  Kata kunci: Sastra anak, nursery rhymes, lagu dolanan jawaABSTRACTThis study aimed to describe the implementation stages of Cerry Lalaland as an alternative method of learning children’s literature and to find out the respondents’ agreement to the method. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative and quantitative method. Questionnaire was used to collect data and analyze them through likert scale. The results were Cerry Lalaland was carried out by collecting nursery rhymes and lagu dolanan jawa, analyze moral and historical values, create web, implementate in learning and filling out questionnaires. The test results by using the likert scale showed that the Cerry Lalaland method was in the “good” category with a percentage index of 68.6%. The conclusion was cerry laland is a good method to be implemented in distance learning. Keyword: Children’s literature, nursery rhymes, lagu dolanan jawa

Abstract

Through the massive effort of transvestites to be accepted by the community, it seems that people are beginning to accept the presence of them. This raises a new phenomenon in the life of Indonesian society. It is a shift in cultural values and conflicts that further sharpen and complicate the situation in Indonesia. It is caused by the low mindset of the people to accept the balance of information between pros and cons against transvestites.The objectives of the research are to: know the current development ofLudruk performance and the condition of active and passive Ludruk players; know the public opinion about the current condition of the transvestites which are increasingly advanced in various sectors of life and overcome to be a transvestite in the next future; provide an overview of Ludruk as one of the traditional performance that are able to fight (subvert) the hegemony of transvestites that occur in society these days; build public opinion to always support the preservation of Ludruk as valuable Indonesian cultural heritage.This research method is descriptive qualitative. Primary data is documentation of Ludruk. Secondary data are questionnaire and interview by using sampling method. Data analysis technique that we use is recapitulate 100 respondent opinion as sample research.The results of this study are: (1) there are many people who know Ludruk. Ludruk worsened, because marginalized by television shows, (2) respondents argue that being transvestite now offers a lot of success, (3) Ludruk is able to give new overview for the community against transvestites, (4) respondents welcomed well and support when Ludruk can be performed on television.Key words: transvestite, subversion, hegemony, Ludruk performance.

Abstract

Nowadays, in our country, many several issues have come up to the public such as violence, sexual crime, corruption, vandalism, mass fight, juvenile delinquency, economic and politic problems, and so on. The government needs to overcome them in order to create a better condition of life. There are so many ways to do which can reduce these problem. One of them is through education. Education is considered as an alternative way to overcome, at least, to reduce these issues. Definitely, it should be begun from the early education. Young learners are the best age to be given a good education in line with their ages. It is through musical cultural mini-drama. They will learn easily on English speaking through this strategy. Besides improving their speaking skill, it will make shape their good character through the values of the songs. The research used descriptive qualitative and quantitative design by using SPSS. The object this research were seventeen students of Elementary School in Semarang. The assessment instrument used speaking rubric/table score, progress checking form, and behavior development checklist. The results were (1) CMMD could be implemented by using the steps of preparation, implementation, and assessment. In each of steps, students learned much more about speaking. Not only vocabulary, pronunciation, expressions, but also the valuable cultures to shape their behaviors. Some students had pronunciation and expression difficulties, but it could be overcome by practicing a lot. (2) CMMD is one of effective strategies to improve students’ speaking skill based on the result of the SPSS analysis which showed the null hypotheses were sig. of 0.000. It means that this strategy is effective to be used.

Abstract

Moral issues and crime are the main issues exhaled to support the passage of the Pornography Law. On the other hand, saving the young generation from the dangers of pornography and porno-action as the next generation of the nation’s struggle and moral decadence of the Indonesian population are among the reasons to legalize the Pornography Law. While the issues of pluralism, freedom, art and culture are often used to reject the Pornography Law. The purpose of this research is to know in general the reaction/ action of the public to the pornography and its implications, to provide solutions to the controversy of the Pornography Law itself. This research used descriptive qualitative based on a literature review which is complemented by questionnaire and expert interviews. The results of the study are since it was proposed to become a law, the Pornography Law still reaps many pros and cons in the life of the nation and state, disintegration of the nation will occur if the pros and cons of the Pornography Law continue, and a compatible local law (regarding to the community) is an alternative solution to the pros and cons for resolving the Pornography Law so far.

Abstract

English has become part of the education curriculum that must be taught to students. Therefore, many schools strive to provide the best English teaching and learning systems and methods for their students. One of them is Nuretta Deviana which is an alternative model of learning English. The purpose of this research is to explain the steps of implementing Nuretta Deviana, find and explain the skills and language components that can be learned through Nuretta Deviana, explain the children behavioral forming through NUretta Deviana, find and overcome the obstacles that arise in the implementation of Nuretta Deviana. The approach used is descriptive qualitative based on literature review. Primary data were collected using documentation techniques during the Nuretta Deviana process, performances, and interviews with stakeholders and educators (English teachers in schools). Secondary data were collected using the literature review method. The results of this study stated that Nuretta Deviana can be done by holding preparations, performances and assessments. Nuretta Deviana can hone student’ English skills and components. Diligent, hard work, discipline and tolerance characteristic are implicitly formed through the script which acculturate local culture and British culture. Barriers internally and externally can be overcome with solutions that are carried out continuously. Keywords: nursery rhymes, reader response theory

Abstract

Mispronunciation is a critical issue encountered by most young English learners in a second language learning that causes low spoken English proficiency, which plays important roles today. The objectives of this study were to identify the segmental changes resulted in the articulation of English mispronounced words produced by most young learners, to describe the different elements between Indonesian and English sound systems, and to explain the phonological interference of mother tongue in English mispronunciation. This study uses descriptive qualitative research design performed on ten primary school students selected by using purposive sampling in Semarang. Data were collected by using simak method and analyzed by using padan fonetik artikulatoris method. The data suggest that the majority of the participants had difficulty in articulating the words with absent phonemic segments /ɪ, æ, əː, ɔ, ʌ, eɪ, ʊə, ɪə, aɪə, ʃ, θ, ð, ʒ, voiced v/, silent letters <b, d, e, t, w, gh, and r in some cases>, spelling patterns <th, ow, ph, ie, ueue, ough>, and tricky words including several English borrowings that have inconsistent spelling pronunciation. The results showed that the interference of L1 sounds and pronunciation rules occurred through substitution of closest native sounds for absent phonemes, insertion of native sounds, and negative transfer of L1 spelling pronunciation. It can be concluded that most of the young learners mispronounced on words with absent phonemic segments, silent letters, spelling patterns of many letters combination, and several English borrowings.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has many regional languages. The diversity of regional languages is a characteristic of Indonesia. One of them is the Javanese language which is used by the Javanese people and has a variety of dialects. Therefore, the writer is interested in conducting research on the characteristics of the Javanese dialect of Blora in accordance with sociolinguistic studies that examines the relationship between language and its speaking community. This is similar to the writer aim to analysis the differences between Blora, Temanggung and Mojokerto dialect. The writer also analyzes the use of Javanese speech level used by the people of Blora. This is because there are still many people who do not know the geographical location of Blora City. In this study, the writer uses a qualitative descriptive method and the data collection methods needed to analysis the data are simak method and cakap method. The analysis results showed that there are characteristics of the Blora dialect and there are differences between Blora, Temanggung and Mojokerto dialect. It can be concluded that the variations of the three dialects have different morphology, phonology, lexical and semantics. This is due to the diversity of dialect differences from the results of regional observations.

Abstract

Since being introduced by the Minister of Education and Culture, the Kurikululm Merdeka dan Merdeka Belajar program has become a trend at the higher education level in Indonesia. On the other hand, the trend of the industrial world today is starting to touch the virtual world with several systems. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation steps of Ciject-Bale as a creativity-based English learning method, the advantages of the Ciject-Bale method, and the effectiveness of this method in learning English. This research used descriptive qualitative and quantitative research methods with experimental research design. The results were the Ciject-Bale can be implemented through determining the theme and location, making the draft, doing a lot of practices, doing a live report, editing and uploading. Ciject-Bale has many advantages as an integrated English learning method and ICT. Through t-test analysis which showed that sig. (2-tailed) of all = 0.000 and the probability less than 0.05, Ciject-Bale was an effective method to be used in English learning. The conclusion was the learners will become young content creators in English by implementing this method and it needs more focus and high creativity.
