Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance public understanding of the importance of voting rights in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada), involving the active role of higher education institutions through the three pillars of collaboration. The event was attended by one hundred lecturers lecturers from the Forum of Communication of Lecturers (FKD) across West Java, discussing the importance of book publication as an educational medium for young voters on democracy and voting rights. The implementation method included preparation, interactive execution, and evaluation through post-event discussions. The participants showed high enthusiasm, asking numerous questions related to textbook writing strategies, publisher selection, citation improvement, collaboration between higher education institutions, and book marketing strategies. As a result, the event not only provided education on the importance of creating textbooks and reference books but also raised lecturers' awareness of their role in facilitating political and democratic education. It also opened opportunities for collaboration to expand the impact of democratic education through informative and sustainable textbook publications.

Abstract

Abstract The widespread dissemination of false content (hoaxes) has become a significant challenge in today’s digital era. Limited digital literacy makes some individuals easily influenced and more likely to share unverified information. To address this issue, a Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted with the aim of educating residents about the dangers of digital hoaxes and how to identify them. The activity was held in a village in Bandung Regency, involving 45 participants, the majority of whom were members of the local youth organization (Karang Taruna). The method included obtaining permission and coordination with village authorities, delivering interactive educational sessions, and conducting group discussions and fact-checking simulations. The session began with an ice-breaking activity to foster engagement, followed by the presentation of materials and participatory discussion. The results showed that many participants were accustomed to receiving and forwarding chain messages without verification and expressed concern about suspicious links that might compromise personal data. A notable case discussed was the viral spread of a false robbery incident in Cangkorah Village, which was later revealed to be fabricated by the individual involved due to online loan issues. This activity received positive feedback and raised participants’ awareness of the need to be more critical of digital information. It is recommended that those who attended share their knowledge with others, and that the broader community exercise greater caution and patience when handling information to avoid unnecessary panic or social tension.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalisasi pelayanan publik di Kantor Kelurahan Karang Mumus, Samarinda, melalui digitalisasi arsip surat menyurat yang selama ini masih dilakukan secara konvensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan praktis yang dilaksanakan dalam satu hari, yaitu pada 20 Juni 2025. Efektivitas program diukur secara kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada rata-rata nilai staf, dari 46 pada pre-test menjadi 92 pada post-test. Peningkatan hampir sebesar 100% ini membuktikan bahwa program pelatihan dan pendampingan yang singkat sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan staf. Meskipun program satu hari ini berhasil memberikan bekal dasar, disimpulkan bahwa keberlanjutan dan keberhasilan jangka panjang membutuhkan pengembangan lebih lanjut, seperti pendampingan berkala dan implementasi sistem manajemen arsip elektronik (E-Arsip) yang lebih komprehensif.
