Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The use of antiepileptic drugs requires monitoring of blood drug levels because antiepileptics are drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the accuracy of blood antiepileptic drug levels and clinical outcomes in epilepsy patients at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto using a pharmacokinetic approach. This study is an analytical observational study with a retrospective cross-sectional study of epilepsy patients using antiepileptic drugs from January 2023 to January 2024 at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Jakarta. The results of this study showed that the most antiepileptic drug was valproic acid (38.55%). Of the 32 patients using valproic acid, there were 22 uses of valproic acid below the therapeutic range (<50 mg/L), 10 uses of valproic acid within the therapeutic range (50–100 mg/L). Of the 22 uses of phenytoin, there were 4 uses of phenytoin below the therapeutic range (<10 mg/L), 17 uses of phenytoin within the therapeutic range (10–20 mg/L), and 1 use of phenytoin above the therapeutic range (>20 mg/L). Of the 10 uses of carbamazepine, 1 use of carbamazepine was below the therapeutic range (<4 mg/L), and 9 uses of carbamazepine were within the therapeutic range (4-12 mg/L). Of the 4 uses of levetiracetam, there were 4 uses of levetiracetam below the therapeutic range (12-46 mg/L), and 1 use of oxcarbazepine had a therapeutic range below the therapeutic range (3-35 mg/L). In clinical outcomes within 6 months, 18.07% of patients experienced seizures after receiving antiepileptic drug therapy, and 81.93% of patients experienced seizure-free for up to 6 months. The conclusion of this study is that a p-value of >0.05 is obtained, which means that there is no relationship between clinical outcomes and the accuracy of antiepileptic drug levels in the blood of epilepsy patients. This is because there are other pharmacokinetic parameters that cannot be predicted, so it is necessary to monitor antiepileptic drug levels directly on patients to improve the desired clinical outcomes.

Abstract

Diarrhea remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas with limited sanitation and clean water access. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the Ciburuy Village community regarding diarrhea prevention through the promotion of clean and healthy lifestyles (PHBS). The method used was interactive outreach through lectures and discussions, with evaluations in the form of pre- and post-tests. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge levels, from 63% before the outreach to 100% after the outreach. 91% of participants expressed a commitment to implementing PHBS, particularly handwashing with soap, using healthy latrines, and treating household drinking water. The community response to the activity was very positive, and Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) cadres and local leaders are ready to continue the outreach in their communities. Thus, the PHBS outreach has proven effective in driving changes in community knowledge and attitudes towards diarrhea prevention, although further activities are needed to ensure the long-term sustainability of healthy behaviors.

Abstract

AbstractThe utilization of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) has become a focus in efforts to improve public health through natural and independent means. This community service activity was conducted in Muaragembong, aiming to increase the community's knowledge about the benefits of TOGA and how to use it in daily life. The identified issue was the lack of understanding and skills within the community to utilize the medicinal plants available around them. The method employed in this service activity was a participatory-based extension, followed by hands-on training on how to plant, maintain, and process TOGA into beneficial herbal products. The results obtained showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, from 33,21% in the pre-test to 64,64% in the post-test. The majority of participants now have a better understanding of the health benefits of various TOGA plants, such as turmeric, ginger, and moringa. This activity also had a positive impact on economic empowerment, with many participants planning to plant TOGA in their yards and share the knowledge with others. The importance of this result is to introduce the community to an alternative natural treatment that can support independent health, while also creating opportunities for economic empowerment through the cultivation of medicinal plants. Keywords: Family Medicinal Plants; Community empowerment; Natural health; Sustainable economy; TOGA

Abstract

Activity carried out after sleeping is called sedentary behavior. Therefore, to engage in sports activities, we must have the intention or desire for these sports activities to be carried out. This non-experimental quantitative research does not control or manipulate the variables. The study was conducted on elementary school students in Lalabata District. The population in this study was all sixth-grade students in 4 schools in Lalabata District, and sampling used purposive sampling with a sample of 108 students. After data collection, the data were analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation. The results of the 2-tailed sig. have a sig. 2-tailed value > 0.05, which is 0.08. Therefore, from these calculations, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and sports interest in sixth-grade elementary school students in Lalabata District. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and sports interest in sixth-grade elementary school students in Lalabata District. Researchers can use the findings of this study to identify the relationship between sedentary lifestyle and other variables that may influence and relate to each other.
