Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM), a chronic metabolic condition marked by elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), is brought on by an imbalance between the supply and demand for insulin. Decreased or missing insulin causes glucose to be retained in the circulation, increasing blood sugar levels while depleting the glucose that is required for cell survival and function. In type 2 DM patients, complaints of neuropathy are common. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of diabetic foot exercise on patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center. Methods: Pre-experimental research is the type of study being conducted. During December 2022 to January 2023, the study was conducted at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center. A total of 34 people were included in the sampling method with purposive sampling. The Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used for analysis.Result: This study included 34 samples, and convenience or accidental sampling was used to choose the samples. The Wilcoxon test's asymp sign (2 tailed), which is 0.02 or 0.05, reveals the significance value. The results of the research show that before intervention the most sensitivity is moderate with 18 (61,2%) after treatment, data show that the most sensitivity is good with 16 (47%); p value 0,02<0,05. The sensitivity of the feet of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center is influenced by diabetic foot exercise. Conclusion: Patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center have sensitive feet, which is influenced by diabetic foot activity). It is important for families and communities to give motivation to the diabetes mellitus patients to do diabetic foot as one of alternative therapies to prevent foot complications such and increase foot sensitivity. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, Foot Sensitivity, and Diabetic Foot Exercise

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a new type of disease that has never been previously identified in humans. The virus that causes COVID-19 is called SarsCoV-2. Common signs and symptoms of COVID-19 infection include symptoms of acute respiratory distress such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The average incubation period is 5-6 days, with the most prolonged incubation period being 14 days. In severe cases of COVID-19, it can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death. The increase in coronavirus cases in Indonesia shows that people still do not understand the dangers of coronavirus and how to prevent it. On the streets, It can be seen that there are still people who do not use masks and heed the recommendations for maintaining a safe distance. In Dajan Peken Village, it was found that many people did not comply with health protocols, and the public tended to be at risk of contracting COVID-19 due to the lack of public awareness of using masks when gathering in public places. Currently, people rarely spray disinfectant in their home environment, and physical distancing behavior in the community is still lacking. The purpose of this activity is to provide education about preventing COVID-19 and how to wear masks correctly. The measurement results showed that most public knowledge before being given health education was in the excellent category. The majority of general knowledge after being given health education was in the high class. The results show differences in public expertise before and after providing health education to prevent COVID-19 and how to wear masks correctly.ABSTRAKCoronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) adalah penyakit jenis baru yang belum pernah diidentifikasi sebelumnya pada manusia.

Abstract

Natural disasters occur all over the world and have massive effects. The impact of natural disasters has prompted various studies to find out the effects of a better mitigation and preparedness phase on individuals and communities in reducing the number of victims. Although revious literature are available that discuss disaster preparedness, studies that specifically assess the effectiveness of community-based disaster preparedness training are not available yet. This study aimed to identify effectiveness of community-based disaster preparedness training and which communication media are effective for use in disaster management in society. The literature reviews were conducted using the PRISMA model. The articles were collected from 4 journal databases, including EBSCO, Science Direct, Scopus dan ProQuest. Quality of each articles were assessed by Crowe Critical Appraisal Tool (CCAT). We identified a total of 3 studies. From the data extraction, 4 types of interventions were obtained in increasing disaster preparedness including phone-based intervention, printed media intervention, peer-mentored preparedness (PM-Prep) program and small group discussion intervention. The effectiveness of community-based disaster preparedness training is evidence that is needed to be applied in various countries due to the high prevalence of natural disasters worldwide.
