Abstract

Female students face additional stress and difficulties in adjusting to higher education which negatively impacts academic performance. Due to the dual roles, academic requirements and housekeeping activities, that are played by female students, social support is needed in forming self-efficacy in female students to achieve learning goals. This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support, friend supports, and support from significant others among female students at Islamic universities. In this research, a quantitative method was used with 286 Islamic female students as the subjects, selected using non-probability sampling technique. In this study, the researchers used conformational factor analysis (CFA) using Lisrel 8.8 to test the validity of the measuring instrument. To analyze descriptive statistics, SPSS 23 software was used. The result of this research was that there was a significant and positive influence between social support on self-efficacy of female students of 0.109 or 10.9 %, while the remaining 80.1 % was influenced by other variables outside the research. Based on the analysis of the influence of each independent variable on the dependent variable in this research, there were two dimensions whose regression coefficient values were significant, namely the dimension of family support and significant other and dimension of social support that was not significant, namely the dimension of friend supports.

Abstract

Writing this article aims to explain the development of Islamic da'wah in the Maldives Islands, which is unique and rarely found in other Muslim regions. So far, the Maldives is only known as a tourist spot. It is rarely known that all of the Maldives adhere to Islam. The British have also ruled the Maldives for 78 years, influencing the Maldives to some extent. What is the form of da'wah carried out by Abu al-Barakat, whose origins are still debated by historians? But what is clear is that he had a significant influence on the spread of Islam in the Maldives Islands, which is corroborated by classical sources such as the text attributed to Ibn Battuta and several contemporary books. We conducted a literature study on this paper, with a historical approach, by collecting data, verifying and analyzing the data thoroughly, and rewriting the results of the analysis inductively in a qualitative descriptive form. Islam spread in the Maldives peacefully without violence and continues to survive from Christian missionaries and Shiite sects who come to spread their views. Scholars say about the fiqh theory that faith in conscience will not be changed by the sins and heresies it commits.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential of youth and the application of local wisdom in empowerment efforts in Nagari Sungai Nanam, West Sumatra. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that youth in Nagari Sungai Nanam hold significant potential in the horticultural agriculture, livestock, and nature-based tourism sectors. However, their empowerment is constrained by limited access to entrepreneurial training, business capital, and market opportunities. Local wisdom, such as the gotong-royong (mutual cooperation) culture and the Balambai Ari system, serves as a valuable social asset that strengthens social bonds and enhances the role of youth within the community. Based on Rappaport’s empowerment theory, the application of local wisdom effectively increases youth’s sense of responsibility and self-confidence, though it remains suboptimal. This study concludes that additional support, including technical training and market access, is essential for maximizing youth potential and sustainably enhancing the local economy.
