Abstract

The impact of the tempe industrial wastewater which has an organic content value if discharged directly into water bodies will endanger the environment. This is due to the large number of pollutant substances present in wastewater, which will cause a decrease in dissolved oxygen levels in wastewater. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the dose and timing of tamarind seed bio coagulant on the reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solid (TDS), conductivity, turbidity, and pH in tempe industrial wastewater. This research was started by reducing the size of tamarind seeds (brown) so that they became powder, after which they were sieved using an 80 mesh sieve and heated in an oven at 105 ⁰C for 2 hours to reduce the water content. The next process is coagulation and aeration by varying the mass of coagulant 5; 15; 25; 35; and 45 g and time variation of 15; 30; 45; 60; and 75 minutes. Based on the research results, it was found that the water content of tamarind seed powder was 8%, the optimum time and dose were at 75 minutes and 45 g with the percentage of removal of COD, turbidity, TDS, conductivity, and pH each of 97.5%; 61.48%; 19.89%; 16.39%; 3.8. The results of the FTIR characterization of the initial sample obtained a vibrational peak of 3172.90 cm⁻ˡ for the carboxylic acid compound identifying the O-H functional group. And experienced a new vibrational peak after the coagulation and aeration process, namely the alcohol compound identified the vibrational O-H functional group of 3876.92 cm⁻ˡ. From these results, it can be concluded that the tamarind seed bio coagulant can reduce the contaminants in the tempe industrial wastewater.

Abstract

Desa Pusong Baru Kecamatan Banda Sakti Kota Lhokseumawe terletak berbatasan langsung dengan laut selat Malaka. Karena lokasinya tersebut, hampir sebagian besar penduduk desa tersebut, mempunyai mata pencarian sebagai nelayan. Taraf kehidupan masyarakat nelayan Desa Pusong tergolong kurang mampu, untuk menambah perekonomian keluarga, umumnya kaum wanita yang terdiri atas istri-istri para nelayan bekerja sebagai penghasil ikan kering dan ikan teri. Mereka membentuk Kelompok Usaha Nelayan yang menaungi seluruh kegiatan tersebut. Pengeringan ikan yang dilakukan selama ini masih sangat tradisonal, yakni hanya mengandalkan cuaca panas dan dibiarkan pada tempat terbuka. Pengeringan alami ini dilakukan dengan meletakkan ikan di atas tikar, hamparan lantai semen atau anyaman kasa secara terbuka. Tentu saja, metode ini tidak hygienis dan dapat meningkatkan kehilangan karena dimakan serangga, burung atau binatang lainnya. Selain itu, produk juga akan mudah tercampur dengan debu dan air hujan. Kondisi pengeringan semacam ini akan menghasilkan ikan dengan mutu dan harga yang rendah. Dari hasil pemantauan lapangan dan wawancara dengan kelompok usaha nelayan Desa Pusong Baru Kecamatan Banda Sakti Kota Lhokseumawe, diperoleh informasi bahwa waktu pengeringan ikan yang sangat efektif hingga benar-benar kering memerlukan waktu ± 3 hari (jika udara panas dan sinar matahari cukup cerah) per produksi. Untuk itu diperlukan perbaikan teknologi pengering ikan energi surya yang dapat mempersingkat waktu pengeringan sehingga dapat menambah jumlah produksi, lebih hygenis, meningkatkan mutu produk dan pada akhirnya akan menambah pemasukan keuangan bagi masyarakat nelayan tersebut. Kegiatan Iptek bagi Masyarakat (IbM) ini memberikan solusi dari permasalahan yang ada yakni memperbaiki kualitas metode pengeringan dengan alat pengering ikan tenaga surya. Prototipe alat pengering ini relatif sederhana dalam prinsip kerja dan tidak memerlukan tingkat pemahaman yang tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil penerapan IbM ini yang dilakukan bersama kelompok nelayan desa Pusong, diperoleh perbaikan dalam waktu pengeringan serta kualitas ikan yang dihasilkan. Dengan menggunakan alat pengering ini dapat mempersingkat waktu pengeringan dari waktu 2- 3 hari, bisa dipersingkat menjadi hanya 1 hari dengan kondisi udara yang sama. Jika suhu cerah, suhu di dalam pengering bisa mencapai 600C. Begitu juga kualitas ikan yang dihasilkan, lebih bersih (warna daging ikan lebih cerah) dan lebih hygenis. Tetapi ada kelemahan alat pengering ini yaitu kapasitas yang ada masih relatif kecil dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional.

Abstract

Tofu industrial waste is waste that contains high organic compounds, has the potential to damage the environment and needs to be followed up. This study used aeration and coagulation methods with moringa oleifera seed powder. The purpose of this study was to study the best time and mass of moringa seeds in removing COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), TDS (Total Dissolved Solid) contaminants, conductivity, turbidity and pH of tofu industrial wastewater. This research was started by pulverizing moringa seeds then sieved with an 80 mesh sieve and heated at 105⁰C for 2 hours to reduce the water content. The process of aeration and coagulation was continued by varying the dose of coagulant 45; 55; 65; 75; 85 g and variation of stirring time 15; 30; 45; 60; 75; 85 minutes. Based on the research results, the best time and dose were 75 minutes and 75 g with a percentage of COD removal of 97.5%, turbidity 81%, TDS 32.45%, conductivity 27.01%, an optimum pH value of 4.2 was obtained. The FTIR characterization results obtained the highest peak of 2926.01 cm-1 indicating the presence of a carboxylic acid compound identifying the O-H functional group and experiencing a slight shift in the peak after coagulation and aeration of 2924.09 cm-1, there was no significant change in solid structure. From these results it can be concluded that moringa seed biocoagulant is able to reduce contaminants in tofu waste.

Abstract

ABSTRACTEquipment performance is one very important thing to be maintained by a company or related agency in order to keep production or work activities running smoothly. Heat Exchanger is a common equipment that we find in many companies and related agencies. Leakage, corrosiveness is common in a heat exchanger or heat exchanger equipment. PT PLN Nusantara Power has a Charge Air Cooler (HE) as a heat exchanger medium between air for the combustion process and cooling water in each engine to help the electricity production process. For this reason, this analysis aims to see the reliability of engines 1 to 10 seen from the ratio of the effectiveness value of the calculation results to the effectiveness value of the commissioning results and compare the operational parameters in the field with the results of the hysys simulation. From the results of the calculation analysis, the highest effectiveness value on engine 3 was 92.759 % which was influenced by the ratio of the actual heat transfer rate value compared to the maximum heat transfer rate value. This result is of course as expected where the effectiveness value of the air cooler charge must be greater than 90%. Similar to engine 3, the other nine engines also have an effectiveness value of 90%, meaning that in terms of performance the charge air cooler is still able to work optimally. In the input of hysys simulation data, a difference in data between the incoming air temperature data from the data input in hysys and operational data in the field was obtained. Abstract

Inkubator bisnis PNL memiliki lebih kurang 30 (tiga puluh) tenant yang akan dibimbing menjadi seorang intherpeunership. Tenant inkubator bisnis PNL terdiri dari para mahasiswa aktif dan alumni yang memiliki produk yang akan dipasarkan. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh tenant adalah produk pangan yang diproduksikan oleh para tenant belum memiliki CPPOB. Produksi pangan harus aman dan layak di konsumsi oleh masyarakat.  Oleh karena itu tujuan dari pelatihan ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuna kepada para tenant tentang penyusunan Cara Produksi Pangan Olahan yang Baik (CPPOB) yang diperlukan untuk menjamin mutu produk pangan serta menjaga keamanan pangan. Metode yang dilakukan pada pelatihan ini terdiri dari beberpa tahapan: (1) Persiapan yaitu melakukan koordinasi kepada para tenat,; (2) Pelatihan yaitu melakukan pelatihan kepada para tenant tentang penyusunan CPPOB; (3) Membimbing: yaitu para tenant di bimbing cara menyusun CPPOB; (4) Evaluasi yaitu setelah penelitian ini dilakukan evaluasi kepada para mitra. Target dari kegiatan ini adalah para tenant sehingga tenant dapat menyusun dan melaksanakan CPPOB dengan baik. Pada saat pelatihan para tenant diberikan soal pada saat pre dan post test. Dari hasil pelatihan yang telah dilakukan 100% tenant dapat menyususn CPPOB.

Abstract

In this study, squeezed orange peel was distilled by water vapor distillation method to extract its essential oil, which can be used as an antioxidant. The fixed variable is the weight of 3 kg of squeezed orange peel with a size of ±1 cm-2 cm and a temperature of 125 ℃ and a pressure of 1.2 bar. Independent variables are the ratio of squeezed orange peel:water 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, sampling time, 3 hours 4 hours 5 hours and 6 hours. The dependent variables are essential oil yield analysis, essential oil density analysis, essential oil refractive index analysis, essential oil component analysis by GC-MS and essential oil antioxidant analysis by DPPH method. The most yield and volume of squeezed orange peel oil was obtained at a ratio of 1: 2 with a sampling time of 6 hours, namely as much as 1.2289% and 43 mL. From the density obtained, all samples of squeezed orange peel essential oil meet SNI 06-0009-1987 while the closest to ISO 3140, 2019 is the 1:2 ratio of squeezed orange peel essential oil. From the refractive index obtained, the closest to SNI 06-0009-1987 and ISO 3140, 2019 is the 1:2 ratio of squeezed orange peel essential oil. From the component test and antioxidant test, the highest dl-Limonene composition was obtained at a ratio of 1:5 with a sampling time of 6 hours, namely 54.94% and very strong antioxidant strength of 49.07 µg/mL.

Abstract

Turmeric contains chemicals that are benefical for the health of the body and can be used for making cosmetics. This study aims to make blush on cosmetics from natural ingredients with some benefits that not only increase external beauty but also nourish the skin from within by utilizing the natural color of the turmeric plant. Turmeric extraction was carried out using ethanol as a solvent using the maceration method. Maseration is done for 3x24 hours. This study used variations in the concentration of turmeric extract as mush as 4ml, 6ml, 8ml and 10ml with variations in the concentration of talcum as much as 0gr, 0.5gr, 1gr, 1.5gr and 2gr. The testing that has done includes flavonoid test, pH values, irritation test and organoleptic test. The results of this study showed us that the best blush on with a composition of 8ml turmeric extract with 0.5gr talc has a positive flavonoid value, a pH value is 4.9 compatiable according to the pH of face skin, which 4.6-7, an irritation test value of 0 indicates that the blush on does not irritate the skin and the organoleptic test results have an average color value of 4.2, and average aroma of 4.3 and an average texture of 4.0.
