Abstract

Glagahwero is one of the largest mushroom producers in Jember, though still lack of production. This research aims to determine factors of production, optimization of production factors, and profit by using optimal production factor. This research was conducted in Glagahwero Village with 32 samples of mushroom farmer. The samples were selected using total sampling method. Data were analyzed using cobb douglas production function to know the factors that significantly influence the production and value of the optimum input use of mushroom farming, and profit analysis to know the comparison of profit value by using the optimum production factor. The results showed that the area of kumbung, seedlings, straw and labor significantly influenced the production of mushroom in Glagahwero but the use of those factors were not optimal (ratio of NPMxi / Pxi> 1), it is necessary to add the amount of production factor use to reach optimal value. The value of profit by using the optimal production factor will be greater than using the actual production factor. The results of this study then become basis in conducting mushroom farming in Glagahwero Village optimally by taking into account the amount of input that use.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: This community service program was carried out to strengthen the capacity of the Pokmas Pelita Berkarya group, which consists of former illegal loggers in the buffer village of Meru Betiri National Park, through the application of circular economy principles in mushroom cultivation. The main problem faced by the group was the low added value of their mushroom products due to limited marketing, lack of product identity (branding), and non-standard packaging that did not meet the requirements of the National Food Agency. To address this issue, participatory extension activities were conducted focusing on brand development, packaging standards, and digital payment adoption with QRIS. The activities included need assessment, interactive presentations, group discussions, and simple practice in designing labels and packaging. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of branding as not only a visual identity but also a strategic tool for building product reputation and consumer trust. Moreover, they recognized the importance of packaging that ensures product quality, safety, and competitiveness in modern markets. The introduction of QRIS also encouraged participants to adopt digital transactions, enhancing professionalism and market reach. Overall, the program successfully improved the knowledge and skills of the community, created social-ecological transformation narratives, and strengthened the sustainability of mushroom businesses aligned with circular economy practices. Abstract: Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk memperkuat kapasitas Kelompok Masyarakat (Pokmas Pelita Berkarya) yang terdiri atas mantan pelaku illegal logging di desa penyangga Taman Nasional Meru Betiri melalui penerapan prinsip ekonomi sirkular pada usaha budidaya jamur.

Abstract

Existing learning and administrative conditions at the Nurul Yaqin Islamic Boarding School in Jember are currently still entirely conventional, with low levels of digital literacy among teachers and students. Based on these issues faced by our partners, this community service program aims to accelerate the digital transformation of Islamic boarding school education through the implementation of an e-learning system based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. The activity involved four key stages: needs assessment, training on digital tools (Google Classroom, Canva, Google Forms), implementation, and mentoring. The results showed that teachers’ digital competence increased from 20% to 100%, and students’ participation in e-learning activities rose from 40% to 90%. Moreover, the digital administration system, including QR code-based attendance and digital archiving, reduced administrative time by approximately 50%. This program contributes to the development of technology-integrated pedagogy in Islamic education, the strengathening of teachers’ digital competence and instructional innovation, and the promotion of sustainable digital transformation in pesantren-based education systems.

Abstract

Maize is a strategic food commodity in Indonesia, yet smallholder farmers remain vulnerable to high price volatility and market uncertainty that threaten the economic sustainability of farm enterprises. Contract farming has been promoted as a mechanism to stabilize income and strengthen farmers’ market access, but participation remains uneven and may depend not only on structural factors but also on how contract benefits and risks are communicated. This study aims to examine how loss–gain framing affects maize farmers’ intentions to participate in contract farming and to identify the key determinants of actual participation. A quantitative survey was conducted with 120 maize farmers in Jelbuk Subdistrict, Jember Regency, East Java, selected through purposive sampling to represent both contract and independent farmers. Farmers evaluated contract messages framed as potential gains or potential losses using a five-point Likert scale, and differences in responses were assessed using paired non-parametric tests. Binary logistic regression was then applied to explain farmers’ contract participation decisions. The results show that gain-framed messages generated higher intention scores than loss-framed messages across both farmer groups, indicating that benefit-oriented communication is more persuasive. However, participation decisions were more closely associated with farm size, profitability, age, and education than with framing responses alone. These findings suggest that effective contract farming expansion requires both supportive economic conditions and communication strategies emphasizing tangible benefits to enhance farm economic sustainability.
